Miscible disordered block copolymers(BCPs)are rarely studied due to the limits in self-assembly into ordered microstructures.Herein,we proposed a facile method for the transformation of disordered miscible BCPs to comb-like BCPs with well-ordered microphase separation structures via blending with amphiphilic surfactants.In this work,poly(4-vinyl pyridine-b-hydroxybutylacrylate)(P4VP-b-P4HBA)was applied as a model of miscible disordered BCPs and the microphase separation was induced via blending with surfactants of dodecylbenzene sulfonic acid(DBSA)and 3-pentadecylphenol(PDP).The ordered microstructures including spherical and cylindrical morphologies were confirmed by transmission electron microscopy(TEM)and small angle X-ray scattering(SAXS)investigation.These ordered microstructures thermal sensitive,in which ordered and disordered transformation(ODT)was observed in the blend of P4VP-b-P4HBA and PDP whereas it disappeared in the blend of P4VP-b-P4HBA and DBSA.The results show that the thermal stability of the ordered microstructures are strongly depends on the interactions between the miscible BCPs and surfactants,which investigated by in situ SAXS and Fourier transform infrared spectrometer(FTIR).The combination of miscible BCPs and surfactant creates a feasible strategy to fabricate ordered nanostructures,which could be employed to develop complicated nanomaterials.

Macroscopic and microscale creep deformations of UHMWPE were investigated by using in situ SAXS.A methodology for the measurement of the local creep deformation of inter-lamellar amorphous phase has been proposed.The local strain of inter-lamellar amorphous phase(£a)and macroscopic strain(£macro)were evaluated and they were compared to study the relati on ship betwee n macroscopic and microscale creep deformation of UHMWPE.Both of them exhibit two deformation regions against creep time.The entanglements show a strong impact on both the macroscopic and local inter-lamellar amorphous phase creep behavior and they can be well correlated to the molecular weight between two entanglements estimated from strain-hardening modulus.Compared to the macroscopic creep deformation,local inter-lamellar amorphous layers have a smaller creep deformation.From the local creep measurement,the apparent modulus of inter-lamellar amorphous phase can also be estimated(200

Objective:A novel technique was explored using an airbag-selective portal vein blood arrester that circumvents the need for an intraoperative assessment of anatomical variations in patients with complex intrahepatic space-occupying lesions.Methods:Rabbits undergoing hepatectomy were randomly assigned to 4 groups:intermittent portal triad clamping(PTC),intermittent portal vein clamping(PVC),intermittent portal vein blocker with an airbag-selective portal vein blood arrester(APC),and without portal blood occlusion(control).Hepatic ischemia and reperfusion injury were assessed by measuring the 7-day survival rate,blood loss,liver function,hepatic pathology,hepatic inflammatory cytokine infiltration,hepatic malondialdehyde levels,and proliferating cell nuclear antigen levels.Results:Liver damage was substantially reduced in the APC and PVC groups.The APC animals exhibited transaminase levels similar to or less oxidative stress damage and inflammatory hepatocellular injury compared to those exhibited by the PVC animals.Bleeding was significantly higher in the control group than in the other groups.The APC group had less bleeding than the PVC group because of the avoidance of portal vein skeletonization during hepatectomy.Thus,more operative time was saved in the APC group than in the PVC group.Moreover,the total 7-day survival rate in the APC group was higher than that in the PTC group.Conclusion:Airbag-selective portal vein blood arresters may help protect against hepatic ischemia and reperfusion injury in rabbits undergoing partial hepatectomy.This technique may also help prevent liver damage in patients requiring hepatectomy.

An Investigation of the Effects of B7-H4 Gene rs10754339 and miR-125a Gene rs12976445 on Cancer Susceptibility

Objective To investigate the effects of the B7-H4 gene rs10754339 and miR-125a gene rs12976445 on cancer susceptibility through a case-control study and meta-analysis.Methods A total of 1,490 cancer patients(lung/gastric/liver/:550/460/480)and 800 controls were recruited in this case-control study.The meta-analysis was performed by pooling the data from previous related studies and the present study.Results The results of this study showed that in the Hubei Han Chinese population,the rs10754339gene was significantly associated with the risk of lung and gastric cancer but not liver cancer,and the rs12976445 gene was significantly associated with the risk of lung cancer but not liver or gastric cancer.The meta-analysis results indicated that rs10754339 and rs12976445 contributed to cancer susceptibility in the Chinese population and also revealed a significant association between rs10754339and breast cancer risk,as well as between rs12976445 and lung cancer risk.Conclusion The B7-H4 gene rs10754339 and miR-125a gene rs12976445 may be the potential genetic markers for cancer susceptibility in the Chinese population,which should be validated in future studies with larger sample sizes in other ethnic populations.

Alcohol consumption is a critical risk factor contributing to a verity of human diseases. The incidence of alcohol use disorder increases across adolescence in recent years. Accumulating line of evidence suggests that alcohol-induced changes of DNA cytosine methylation(5-methyl-2-deoxycytidine, 5 m C) in genomes play an important role in the development of diseases. However, systemic investigation of the effects of adolescent alcohol exposure on DNA and RNA modifications is still lacked. Especially, there hasn’t been any report to study the effects of alcohol exposure on RNA modifications. Similar to DNA modifications,RNA modifications recently have been identified to function as new regulators in modulating numbers of biological processes. In the current study, we systematically investigated the effects of alcohol exposure on both DNA and RNA modifications in peripheral blood of adolescent rats by liquid chromatographyelectrospray ionization-tandem mass spectrometry(LC-ESI-MS/MS) analysis. The developed LC-ESI-MS/MS method enabled the sensitive and accurate determination of 2 DNA modifications and 12 RNA modifications. As for the alcohol exposure experiments, the adolescent rats were intraperitoneally injected with ethanol with an interval of one day for a total 14 days. The quantification results by LC-ESI-MS/MS analysis showed that adolescent alcohol exposure could alter both DNA and RNA modifications in peripheral blood. Specifically, we observed an overall decreased trend of RNA modifications. The discovery of the significant alteration of the levels of DNA and RNA modifications under alcohol exposure indicates that alcohol consumption may increase the risk of the incidence and development of diseases through dysregulating DNA and RNA modifications.

松潘—甘孜块体位于中国大陆西南部、南北地震带的中段,其东段与扬子块体相接,拥有多条活动断裂带,是青藏高原北部的主要构造单元.该地区地震活动性强烈,历史上曾发生过多次灾难性地震.本文基于地震触发原理和黏弹松弛分层地壳模型,计算了松潘—甘孜块体东北端历史强震之间应力传输和相互作用的过程.模型结果显示,受之前地震导致的库仑应力场变化的影响,1879年武都地震和1976年8月23日松潘M7.2级地震震中库仑应力积累提升,将促进这些地震提前发生;1933年M7.5叠溪地震和1973年M6.5松潘地震震中库仑应力降低,前续地震的影响可能使得这两次地震的发震时间推迟;在研究历史地震对1960年漳腊M6.7级地震、1976年8月16日M7.2级和1976年8月22日M6.7级松潘地震的作用时,有效摩擦系数的取值十分重要,当有效摩擦系数取0.8时,前续地震导致的应力场变化将促进以上三次地震的发生.松潘—甘孜块体东北端的强震活动有效地增强了西秦岭北缘断裂、东昆仑断裂玛沁—玛曲段、鲜水河断裂康定—道孚段和岷江断裂中段上的库仑应力积累,将提升这些断裂今后发生地震的概率;有效降低了龙日坝断裂上库仑应力的积累,降低了该断层上发生地震的概率.松潘—甘孜块体的地震活动降低了汶川地震震中位置的库仑破裂应力,但提升了破裂面东北段的应力积累,有助于汶川地震向东北端破裂.

To the Editor:Tinnitus is the impression of sounds in the absence of external sounds.Tinnitus affects 10%to 15%of adults,and about 20%of those with tinnitus considered it bothersome.[1]The impact of tinnitus is well-recognized in the general population and military veterans.Tinnitus reduces the quality of life by generating anxiety and concentration problems,impairing the ability to do intellectual work,making it difficult to sleep,and causing depression which,in severe cases,leads to suicide.The incidence of tinnitus is increasing as a result of the population aging,the pace of life accelerating,increased noise exposure from construction and entertainment activity,and increases in armed conflicts in some areas.However,there is an absence of studies concerning the exacerbation of tinnitus.The present study reports tinnitus aggravating data that address this gap,to prevent the occurrence of tinnitus-related comorbidities and improve the management of tinnitus.

CB1 receptor activation on VgluT2-expressing glutamatergic neurons underlies Δ9-tetrahydrocannabinol(Δ9-THC)-induced aversive effects in mice

OBJECTIVE Cannabis can be rewarding or aversive.Cannabis reward is believed to be mediated by activation of cannabinoid CB1 receptors(CB1 Rs) on GABAergic neurons that disinhibit dopaminergic neurons in the ventral tegmental area(VTA).However,little is known about the mechanisms underlying cannabis aversion in rodents.Our study aimed at dig the mechanisms underlying cannabis aversion.METHODS We first created CB1-floxed mice and then generated conditional CB1-knockout mice(VgluT2-CB1-/-) in glutamatergic neurons that express vesicular glutamate transporter 2(VgluT2).We then used immunohistochemistry and RNAscope in situ hybridization assays to examine whether CB1 Rs are expressed in VTA GABAergic neurons and glutamatergic neurons.We also used Cre-dependent viral vector to express light-sensitive channelrhodopsin-2 into VTA glutamatergic neurons.Next,conditioned place preference and intracranial self-stimulation(ICSS) maintained by optical activation of VTA glutamatergic neurons were employed to evaluate the effects of Δ9-THC on brain reward function.RESULTS CB1 Rs are found not only on VTA GABAergic neurons,but also on VTA glutamatergic neurons that express vesicular glutamate transporter 2(VgluT2).Photoactivation of VTA glutamatergic neurons produced robust intracranial self-stimulation(ICSS) behavior,which was dose-dependently blocked by DA receptor antagonists,but enhanced by cocaine.In contrast,Δ9-tetrahydrocannabinol(Δ9-THC),the major psychoactive component of cannabis,produced dose-dependent conditioned place aversion and a reduction in the above optical ICSS in VgluT2-cre control mice,but not in VgluT2-CB1-/-mice.CONCLUSION Activation of CB1 Rs in VgluT2-expressing glutamate neurons produces aversive effects that might explain why cannabinoid is not rewarding in rodents and might also account for individual differences in the hedonic effects of cannabis in humans.

Study on the Propagation and Focusing Mechanism of Long Waves over A Submerged Atoll

An analytical solution for long waves propagating over a submerged atoll is established. The atolls involved in this study are annular coral reefs with large lagoons in the middle, and the expression of the cross section is a trinomial function of the radial distance, i.e., h=ar(2s)-br~s+h_0, where s is the positive rational number. This analytical solution extends the theory by Wang et al.(2018) as s is no longer limited to s=2/m, where m is the positive integer. In addition, by adjusting the terrain parameters properly, the analytic solution can be degenerated to describe the wave propagation over topography with a hump or pit. According to the relationship between wave rays and wave energy, the distribution characteristics and formation mechanism of energy over the topography are expounded. When the lagoon is non-existent, all wave rays converge at the x-axis, which results in an abrupt amplification of the wave amplitude around the convergence point. When a lagoon is mounted on the top of the atoll, the rays are scattered due to the refraction of the lagoon, and only some rays converge at the symmetrical axis and the ridges on both sides,which results in the amplification of wave amplitudes in these areas.

研究了非晶态聚苯乙烯材料应力松弛行为与其固有微观结构非均匀性之间的关联,从基本Maxwell黏弹性模型出发,到三参量扩展指数方程,讨论了变形单元特征时间的分布本质及聚合物应力松弛过程中的链段效应.结果表明,非晶态聚苯乙烯应力松弛行为呈现典型非指数特征,单一特征时间的指数衰减形式与有限特征时间的有限谱方法均无法合理描述聚苯乙烯应力松弛行为,这是由于非晶态聚合物微观结构非均匀性所导致的特征时间谱连续分布.此外,本文进一步探究了物理老化导致的应力松弛行为变化,老化导致体系向更稳定能量状态迁移,变形单元难以激活,因而导致应力松弛过程慢化,特征时间延长.
