Quantum density functional theory （DFT） results are reported for the building block [LaL^1（NO3）] of La complex [LaL^1（NO3）]NO3·5H2O （L^1 = （CH3）2CHCH2CH（NCHC4H3O）COO^-）. The structure was optimized and the calculation results show that the lanthanum ion is coordinated by one nitrogen atom and three oxygen atoms of L^1 and two oxygen atoms of nitrate ion. The bond length of La-N is 0.2637 nm and the average length of La-O is 0.2526 nm, which are consistent with the literatures. In addition, the stabilities, electronic structural characteristics and IR spectra of the complex have been analyzed, which describe the coordination of lanthanum ion with other atoms in detail.

Background Congenital heart disease （CHD） is the most common congenital disorder at birth. Yagel and colleagues＇s method of heart examination has been proved valuable in finding CHD prenatally in single pregnancies. The aim of this study was to analyze the frequency of CHD in twin pregnancies and the sensitivity of the method. Methods A total of 1103 pregnant women with twins were enrolled in this study, including 127 cases with high-risk for CHD. Five transverse ultrasound measurements were used for fetal heart examination, including the upper abdomen view, four-chamber view, five-chamber view, pulmonary artery bifurcation view, and three-vessel view. In the fetuses who were diagnosed with CHD and whose parents requested termination of the pregnancy, autopsy of the fetal heart was performed after an abortion, and a blood sample was collected from the heart for chromosome evaluation. In the other fetuses, a close follow-up was conducted by echocardiography within one year after birth. Results Antenatally, CHD was found in 12 twins, of which 4 were from the high-risk group （3.15%）, and 8 from the low-risk group （0.82%）. In 2 pairs of the twins, the two fetuses had a same kind of CHD （one pair had tetralogy of Fallot （TOF）, another pair had rhabdomyoma）. Another pair had different types of anomaly （one fetus had TOF, and the other duodenal atresia with a normal heart）. Termination of pregnancy was performed in these three pairs and the autopsy of the fetal heart confirmed the ultrasound findings. In the other 9 pairs, CHD was detected in one fetus, and a normal heart in the others. In the cases who received chromosome evaluation, 2 had abnormal chromosomes. During the follow-up after birth, heart examinations confirmed the prenatal diagnosis in 7 of the 9. The diagnosis of CHD was missed antenatally in 2 pairs of twins. The effect and mechanism of carmustine（BCNU） combined with all-trans retinoic acid（ATRA） on the apoptosis of human glioblastoma U251 cells were investigated by means of 3-（4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl）-2,5-diphe- nyltetrazolium bromide（MTT） assay, flow cytometry, reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction（RT-PCR） and Western blot analysis. The results show that BCNU or ATRA shows time- and dose-dependent inhibition effects on human glioblastoma U251 cells and the combination of BCNU with ATRA shows an synergistic inhibition effect on human glioblastoma U251 cells, and the combined BCNU and ATRA can significantly inhibit the proliferation of human glioblastoma U251 cells, and induce the apoptosis of them, making the cells arrest in the stage of G1 phase, the stage of S and G2 phases decline, the rate of the apoptosis of human glioblastoma U251 cells increase, the corresponding mRNA expression of cyclin E and cyclin-dependent kinase 2（CDK2） downregulated and the correspon- ding mRNA expression of p27kip 1 unregulated. In addition, the combined BCNU and ATRA reduced the protein expression of nuclear factor kappa B（NF-κB）. Taken together, these results suggest that the treatment of human glioblastoma U251 cells with a combination application of ATRA and BCNU can exert synergistic effect, the course of this kind of combination chemotherapy may likely be associated with multiple molecular mechanisms for apoptosis, furthermore, the cyclin E and p27kip 1 should be considered as novel targets for controlling the growth of glioblastoma cells.

BACKGROUND Integrating conventional ultrasound features with 2D shear wave elastography(2D-SWE)can potentially enhance preoperative hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)*** To develop a 2D-SWE-based predictive model for preoperative identification of *** A retrospective analysis of 884 patients who underwent liver resection and pathology evaluation from February 2021 to August 2023 was conducted at the Oriental Hepatobiliary Surgery *** patients were divided into the modeling group(n=720)and the control group(n=164).The study included conventional ultrasound,2D-SWE,and preoperative laboratory *** logistic regression was used to identify independent predictive factors for RESULTS In the modeling group analysis,maximal elasticity(Emax)of tumors and their peripheries,platelet count,cirrhosis,and blood flow were independent risk indicators for *** factors yielded an area under the curve of 0.77(95%confidence interval:0.73-0.81)with 84%sensitivity and 61%*** model demonstrated good calibration in both the construction and validation cohorts,as shown by the calibration graph and Hosmer-Lemeshow test(P=0.683 and P=0.658,respectively).Additionally,the mean elasticity(Emean)of the tumor periphery was identified as a risk factor for microvascular invasion(MVI)in malignant liver tumors(P=0.003).Patients receiving antiviral treatment differed significantly in platelet count(P=0.002),Emax of tumors(P=0.033),Emean of tumors(P=0.042),Emax at tumor periphery(P<0.001),and Emean at tumor periphery(P=0.003).CONCLUSION 2D-SWE’s hardness value serves as a valuable marker for enhancing the preoperative diagnosis of malignant liver lesions,correlating significantly with MVI and antiviral treatment efficacy.

Bronchobiliary fistula(BBF) is a pathologic channel between the biliary tract and bronchial tree. In general, congenital BBF is relatively rare in adult patients. There are a few case reports suggesting that BBF is mainly secondary to hepatobiliary diseases, such as biliary obstruction, tumor, surgery, or liver abscess, and liver tumor is the predominant causative factor [1]. In addition, with the increasing number of liver and biliary surgeries and interventional therapies in recent years, more cases of BBF were reported as a postoperative complication [ 2, 3 ]. In this case, we presented a patient who underwent interventional treatment for liver tumor and was treated for his respiratory symptoms but diagnosed with BBF finally. Here, we summarized the clinical features and main diagnostic procedures of the case, aiming to provide evidence for early identification and diagnosis of BBF.
