Multi-Objective Optimization of Fused Deposition Modeling for Mechanical Properties of Biopolymer Parts Using the Grey-Taguchi Method

The urgent need to develop customized functional products only possible by 3D printing had realized when faced with the unavailability of medical devices like surgical instruments during the coronavirus-19 disease and the ondemand necessity to perform surgery during space missions.Biopolymers have recently been the most appropriate option for fabricating surgical instruments via 3D printing in terms of cheaper and faster processing.Among all 3D printing techniques,fused deposition modelling(FDM)is a low-cost and more rapid printing technique.This article proposes the fabrication of surgical instruments,namely,forceps and hemostat using the fused deposition modeling(FDM)process.Excellent mechanical properties are the only indicator to judge the quality of the functional parts.The mechanical properties of FDM-processed parts depend on various process parameters.These parameters are layer height,infill pattern,top/bottom pattern,number of top/bottom layers,infill density,flow,number of shells,printing temperature,build plate temperature,printing speed,and fan speed.Tensile strength and modulus of elasticity are chosen as evaluation indexes to ascertain the mechanical properties of polylactic acid(PLA)parts printed by FDM.The experiments have performed through Taguchi’s L27orthogonal array(OA).Variance analysis(ANOVA)ascertains the significance of the process parameters and their percent contributions to the evaluation indexes.Finally,as a multiobjective optimization technique,grey relational analysis(GRA)obtains an optimal set of FDM process parameters to fabricate the best parts with comprehensive mechanical properties.Scanning electron microscopy(SEM)examines the types of defects and strong bonding between rasters.The proposed research ensures the successful fabrication of functional surgical tools with substantial ultimate tensile strength(42.6 MPa)and modulus of elasticity(3274 MPa).

A three phase grid tied solar photovoltaic(PV)system with power quality compensation features is presented in this paper.This system is used to transfer power generated from a solar PV array to feed linear and nonlinear loads along with compensation for several power quality(PQ)issues,such as harmonics,redundant reactive power and load unbalancing.The generated DC power from the PV array is converted into AC by implementing a three-phase voltage source converter(VSC).In order to transfer active power and mitigate PQ problems,an efficient control technique is required for the grid tied solar PV system.This study presents the use of an adaptive generalized maximum Versoria criterion(AGMVC)controller for VSC used in a solar PV energy conversion system.Efficient utilization of the solar PV array is accomplished by using the Perturb and Observe based maximum power point tracking(MPPT)algorithm.The experimental setup of the grid integrated PV system is implemented in the laboratory using an IGBT based VSC and DSP(dSPACE DS-1202).The performance of the AGMVC control technique is verified experimentally using laboratory prototype.This control technique is compared with different conventional controllers,such as synchronous reference frame theory(SRFT)and instantaneous reactive power theory(IRPT)along with recently developed weight-based controllers viz.,least mean square(LMS),least mean mixed norm(LMMN)and normalized kernel least mean fourth-neural network(NKLMFNN).Numerous terms,such as fundamental weight convergence,steady state error,computational complexity,phase lock loop(PLL)requirement and harmonic compensation capability,are considered for comparison purposes of AGMVC with the above listed control techniques.The system performance is verified according to the IEEE-519 standard.

This work aims to present and explore thermal management techniques for the wire arc additive manufacturing(WAAM)of IN718 components.Excessive heat can be mitigated via air or water cooling.In this study,the material was deposited under four different heat-input conditions with air or water cooling.In air cooling,the layer is deposited in a normal atmospheric air environment,whereas with water cooling,the material is deposited inside a water tank by varying the water level.To validate the air and water cooling thermal management techniques,IN718 single-pass and multilayer linear walls were deposited using the bidirectional gas metal arc welding based WAAM setup under four different heat input conditions.During the deposition of single layers,the temperature profiles were recorded,and the geometric and microstructural features were explored.For multilayer wall structures,the mechanical properties(hardness,tensile strength,and elongation)were determined and assessed using the corresponding microstructural features explored through scanning electron microscopy(SEM),energy dispersive spectroscopy(EDS),and electron backscatter diffraction(EBSD)analyses.The microstructure observed through SEM analysis in the building direction was found to be nonhomogenous compared with that in the deposition direction.Moreover,water cooling was found to govern bead characteristics,such as wall width and height.The grain size and anisotropy of the mechanical properties also decreased in the water-cooled case.Hence,water cooling is an economical and efficient method to mitigate excessive heat accumulation in WAAM-deposited IN718.

In the present study,we applied Tsallis non-extensive statistics to investigate the thermodynamic properties and phase diagram of quark matter in the Polyakov chiral SU(3)quark mean field model.Within this model,the properties of the quark matter were modified through the scalar fieldsσ,ζ,δ,χ,vector fieldsω,ρ,ϕ,and Polyakov fieldsΦandΦ¯at finite temperature and chemical potential.Non-extensive effects were introduced through a dimensionless parameter q,and the results were compared to those of the extensive case(q→1).In the non-extensive case,the exponential in the Fermi-Dirac(FD)function was modified to a q-exponential form.The influence of the q parameter on the thermodynamic properties,pressure,energy,and entropy density,as well as trace anomaly,was investigated.The speed of sound and specific heat with non-extensive effects were also studied.Furthermore,the effect of non-extensivity on the deconfinement phase transition as well as the chiral phase transition of u,d,and s quarks was explored.We found that the critical end point(CEP),which defines the point in the(T−μ)phase diagram where the order of the phase transition changes,shifts to a lower value of temperature,TCEP,and a higher value of chemical potential,μCEP,as the non-extensivity is increased,that is,q>1.

The correct diagnosis of heart disease can save lives,while the incorrect diagnosis can be lethal.The UCI machine learning heart disease dataset compares the results and analyses of various machine learning approaches,including deep learning.We used a dataset with 13 primary characteristics to carry out the research.Support vector machine and logistic regression algorithms are used to process the datasets,and the latter displays the highest accuracy in predicting coronary disease.Python programming is used to process the datasets.Multiple research initiatives have used machine learning to speed up the healthcare sector.We also used conventional machine learning approaches in our investigation to uncover the links between the numerous features available in the dataset and then used them effectively in anticipation of heart infection risks.Using the accuracy and confusion matrix has resulted in some favorable outcomes.To get the best results,the dataset contains certain unnecessary features that are dealt with using isolation logistic regression and Support Vector Machine(SVM)classification.

Sustainable integrated inventory management policy focuses on reducing the environmental impact of the manufacturing and transport sector.This study develops an integrated single-manufacturer single-buyer inventory model for substitutable deteriorating items considering transport and industry carbon emissions.This article categorizes carbon emissions into two parts:direct and indirect emissions.We also assume two mutually substitutable items,and substitution is considered on the buyer's side.If one of the items is out of stock,the demand for that item can be partially satisfied by the stock of the other item;else,demand will be lost.The purpose of this study is to minimize the integrated cost of the supply chain with total carbon emissions produced by industry and transport sectors and to determine the optimal number of deliveries,order level and carbon emission quantity.A solution procedure is developed to find the optimal values of the policy.Numerical experiments and sensitivity analyses are presented to demonstrate the proposed model.

Application of Response Surface Methodology for Analysing and Optimizing the Finned Solar Air Heater

In this research paper,a solar air heater with triangular fins has been experimentally analysed and optimized.Initially,an experimental set-up of a solar air heater having triangular fins has been developed at the location of 28.10°N,78.23°E.The heat transfer rate through fins and fins efficiency has been determined by the Finite Difference Method model equations.The experimental data and modeled data of response parameters have been optimized in MINITAB-17 software by the Response Surface Methodology tool.For creating the response surface design,three input parameters have been selected namely solar intensity,Reynolds number,and fin base-to-height ratio.The range of solar intensity,Reynolds number,and fin base-to-height ratio is 600 to 1000W/m^(2),4000 to 6000,and 0.4 to 0.8 respectively.The response surface design has been analyzed by calculating the outlet temperature,friction factor,Nusselt number,fin efficiency,thermal performance factor,and exergy efficiency.The optimum settings of input parameters:solar intensity is 1000 W/m^(2);Reynolds number is 4969.7,and the fin base to height ratio is 0.6060,on which these response:namely outlet temperature of 92.531℃,friction factor of 0.2350,Nusselt number of 127.761,thermal efficiency of 50.836%,thermal performance factor of 1.4947,and exergy efficiency of 8.762%.

Petrophysicists and reservoir engineers utilise the capillary pressure and saturation-height function for calculating the water saturation of any reservoir,at a given height above the free water level.The results have a big impact on reserve estimation.The majority of capillary pressure studies are carried out in labs with core data.Cores,on the other hand,are usually altered from their original state before being delivered to laboratories.Moreover,the accuracy of discrete sets of core data in describing entire reservoir parameters,is still up for debate.Prediction of the capillary pressure curve in reservoir condition is an important subject that is challenging to perform.The use of nuclear magnetic resonance(NMR)logs for oil and gas exploration has grown in popularity over the last few decades.However,most of the time the utilization of the data is limited for evaluating porosity-permeability,distributions and computation of irreducible water saturation.After the advent of fluid substitution methods,NMR T_(2)distributions may now be used to synthesize core equivalent capillary pressure curves.Using fluid substitution workflow,our study introduces a better approach for obtaining capillary pressure curves from the NMR T_(2)distribution.The available core data has been used to calculate calibration parameters for better saturation height modelling.The workflow introduces a novel approach in resistivity independent saturation computation.In the exploratory wells of our study area,computed water saturation derived from the saturation height function exhibits encouraging agreement with resistivity based water saturation from multi-mineral model.The NMR based saturation height modelling approach has been included in study area for the first time so far.

Objective To compare sequential fascial dilation(SFD)versus one-shot dilation(OSD)in the pediatric patients undergoing percutaneous nephrolithotomy.Methods The present study is an observational study.The study subjects were divided into two groups.In group 1,renal dilation was done using the SFD and in group 2,renal dilation was done using the OSD.The amount of time exposed to radiation during access to pelvicalyceal system was estimated.Complications,stone free rates,ancillary procedures for residual stones and hospital stay were compared.Modified Clavien-Dindo classification was used for grading the complications.Results Radiation exposure and operative time were less in OSD group(95%confidence interval(CI)3.068 to 14.072,and 2.565 to 12.435,p<0.005).The mean drop of hematocrit was statistically less significant in OSD group(p=0.032).In both groups,complications,stone free rate and hospital stay were statistically insignificant.Conclusions OSD is feasible in the children with reduced radiation exposure and shorter operative time.The outcome was similar to SFD.
