Seismicity modulation by external stress perturbations in plate boundary *** plate interior

Characterization of critically stressed seismogenic fault systems in diverse tectonic settings can be used to explore the stress/frictional condition of faults,along with its sensitivity for seismicity modulation by periodic stress ***,the process of seismicity modulation in response to external stress perturbation remains *** this paper,the characteristic difference in the seismicity modulation due to resonance destabilization phenomenon governed by rate-and-state friction is presented and val-idated with the globally reported cases of seismicity modulation in diverse tectonic *** rela-tively faster-moving plate boundary regions are equally susceptible for both shorter-period(e.g.,semi-diurnal,diurnal,and other small tidal constituents)and long-period(e.g.,semi-annual,annual,pole tide and pole wobble)seismicity modulation processes in response to stress perturbations from natural har-monic forcing,including tidal,semi-annual,annual,or multi-annual time *** contrast,slowly deforming stable plate interior regions and diffuse deformation zones appear to be more sensitive for long-period seismicity modulation of semi-annual,annual,or even multi-annual time scales but less sen-sitive for short-period seismicity *** finding is also supported by the theoretical model pre-dictions from the resonance destabilization process and worldwide documented natural observations of seismicity modulation in diverse types of tectonic settings.

Co-seismic surface displacement of the June 21, 2022 M_(W)6 Khōst,Afghanistan earthquake from InSAR observations

A robust estimation of the earthquake location, seismic moment, and fault geometry is essential for objective seismic hazard assessment. Seismic events in a remote location, specifically in the absence of seismic and GNSS networks, can be investigated effectively using the In SAR-based technique. This study adopts the Differential Interferometric SAR(DIn SAR) technique to quantify the co-seismic surface displacement caused by the June 21, 2022, Khōst M_(W)6 earthquake that occurred along the western plate boundary between the Indian and Eurasian plate. The interferograms show that the maximum surface deformation occurred on the northwest and southwest of the fault line. From coherence, the Line of Sight(LOS) displacement, and the co-seismic surface displacement analysis, it has been observed that surface deformation was most pronounced in the southwest region of the fault line, and the surface has moved to the opposite direction along the fault line, which indicates a sinistral slightly oblique strike-slip movement. This In SAR-based observation appears consistent with the seismic waveforms derived from co-seismic surface displacements. Further, it has been argued that the slip deficit accumulated during the period of the last about 48 years along the frontal region of the northward extension of the Suleiman range and associated fault zone is qualitatively estimated at about 1.5 m, which is consistent with the seismic waveforms derived finite slip model.

Higher Himalayan Crystalline（HHC） complex of the Sikkim Himalaya predominantly consists of high-grade pelitic *** this study,reaction textures,mineral/bulk rare earth elements （REE）,trace element partition coefficients and trace element zoning profiles in garnet are used to demonstrate a complex petrogenetic process during crustal *** the help of equilibrium REE and trace element partitioning model,it is shown that strong enrichment of Effective Bulk Composition（EBC） is responsible for the zoning in garnet in these *** data strongly support disequilibrium element partitioning and suggest that the anatectic melts associated with mafic selvedges are likely produced by disequilibrium melting because of fast melt segregation process.

本文通过约束大地测量研究来探索掸邦高原及其周围地区现今的地壳变形和长期块体运动,以期提供该地区地球动力学和相关地震危险状况的最新状态。掸邦高原在横向上由西侧的萨干(Sagaing)断裂和东侧的红河断裂这两条主要断裂包围。其中,青藏高原地壳的韧性流挤压被认为是该夹层变形单元变形的主要因素。大地测量清楚地表明,萨干断裂和红河断裂段分别具有约18 mm/a和约4~5 mm/a右旋运动走滑速率。此外,掸邦高原内部断层体系大地滑移累积表现为12~13 mm/a的整体左旋运动速率。我们认为相对于刚性巽他古陆,研究区域的形变分布和长期块体运动主要受区域书架型断层作用控制,其原因是掸邦高原两侧的主断裂(萨干断裂和红河断裂)存在差异性断裂活动。

Anatomy of the 2009 Fiordland earthquake(M_w 7.8),South Island,New Zealand

We have analyzed the July 15, 2009, Fiordland earthquake （Mw 7.8）, which occurred in the southwestern part of the South Island of New Zealand. This thrust-related earthquake in the southern Fiordland subduction zone is the largest New Zealand earthquake in the past 80 years. We have constrained a rupture model for this earthquake using coseismic offsets derived from the continuous geodetic network （Global Positioning System） of the New Zealand Institute of Geological and Nuclear Sciences （GNS Science）. Our analysis concludes that this earthquake significantly increased the Coulomb stress on the overriding plate, particularly on the offshore portion of the Alpine fault.

Simultaneously enhanced efficiency and ambient stability of inorganic perovskite solar cells by employing tetramethylammonium chloride additive in CsPbI2Br

Although all-inorganic perovskites possess suitable bandgap and thermal stability for photovoltaic ap-plications,the unstable film morphologies,and poor moisture stabilities lag behind the organic-inorganic hybrid ***,we demonstrate that high qualityα-CsPbI_(2 ) Br films with improved phase sta-bility,high crystallinity,and pinhole-free film morphology was achieved by employing tetramethylammo-nium chloride(TMACl)as an *** a result,the TMACl-added CsPbI_(2) Br films exhibited high power conversion efficiency of 14.12%with an open-circuit voltage of 1.19 V,a short-circuit current density of 15.08 mA/cm^(2),and a fill factor of *** importantly,the TMACl addition imparts hydrophobicity to the film surface of CsPbI_(2) Br,which delivered excellent stability up to 30 days in the ambient condition and thermal stability at 85℃ for 156 h,***,the TMACl-added device also exhibited excellent PCE of 27.16%under indoor light source(1000 lux),which presents a promising approach for designing stable but high performance all-inorganic perovskite solar cells.

Invited Paper: The Audacity of Fiber-Wireless(FiWi) Networks: Revisited for Clouds and Cloudlets

There is a growing awareness among industry players of reaping the benefits of mobile-cloud convergence by extending today's unmodified cloud to a decentralized two-level cloud-cloudlet architecture based on emerging mobile-edge computing(MEC) capabilities. In light of future 5G mobile networks moving toward decentralization based on cloudlets, intelligent base stations, and MEC, the inherent distributed processing and storage capabilities of radio-and-fiber(R&F) networks may be exploited for new applications, e.g., cognitive assistance, augmented reality, or cloud robotics. In this paper, we first revisit fiber-wireless(Fi Wi) networks in the context of conventional clouds and emerging cloudlets, thereby highlighting the limitations of conventional radio-overfiber(Ro F) networks such as China Mobile's centralized cloud radio access network(C-RAN) to meet the aforementioned trends. Furthermore, we pay close attention to the specific design challenges of data center networks and revisit our switchless arrayedwaveguide grating(AWG) based network with efficient support of east-west flows and enhanced scalability.

Identification of parameter to assess cracking resistance of asphalt mixtures subjected to aging and moisture conditioning

This study comprehensively evaluated different parameters based on tensile strength testing to assess the cracking resistance of asphalt mixtures subjected to aging and moisture *** this purpose,two sources of aggregates were selected to produce hot and warm mix asphalt *** mixtures were subjected to short term and long term aging,three levels of moisture conditioning(freeze thaw cycles),and tested at two temperatures(15℃and 25℃).The load-displacement data was used to determine the fracture work density,fracture energy,toughness index,cracking resistance index,cracking tolerance index,and rate dependent cracking *** was noticed that moisture conditioning increased the variability of the different *** cracking tolerance index and rate dependent cracking index parameter had a much higher coefficient of variation(Co V)with a maximum value close to 50%.Indirect tensile strength,fracture energy,and fracture work density appropriately captured the effect of moisture on cracking resistance of *** cracking resistance index,cracking tolerance index,and rate dependent cracking index increased with an increase in the moisture conditioning *** Statistical analysis showed that tensile strength,fracture work density,and fracture energy were significantly influenced by different aging and moisture conditions *** energy showed better association with fatigue life of asphalt mixtures subjected to three freeze-thaw cycles compared to tensile ***,the fatigue life prediction models showed that both indirect tensile strength and fracture energy significantly influence the fatigue life of asphalt mixtures subjected to aging and moisture conditioning.
