The present study highlights the potential application of zinc peroxide （ZnO2） nanomaterial as an efficient material for the decontamination of cyanide from contaminated water. A process patent for ZnO2 synthesis has been granted in United States of America （US Patent number 8,715,612; May 2014）, South Africa, Bangladesh, and India. The ZnO2 nanomaterial was capped with polyvinylpyrrolidone （PVP） to control the particle size. The PVP capped ZnO2 nanomaterial （PVP-ZnO2） before and after adsorption of cyanide was characterized by scanning electron microscope, transmission electron microscope, X-ray diffractorneter, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and time of flight-secondary ion mass spectrom- etry. The remaining concentration of cyanide after adsorption by PVP-ZnO2 was determined using ion chromatograph. The adsorption of cyanide over PVP-ZnO2 was also studied as a function of pH, adsorbent dose, time and concentration of cyanide. The maximum removal of cyanide was observed in pH range 5.8-7.8 within 15 rain. The adsorption data was fitted to Langmuir and Fruendlich isotherm and it has been observed that data follows both the isotherms and also follows second order kinetics.

Inspired by the availability of recent experimental as well as theoretical data on the energy levels of odd-mass^151-161Pm and odd-odd^154,156Pm,we applied the theoretical framework of the projected shell model to further understand the nuclear structure of these *** calculations closely reproduced the experimental data reported for the yrast bands of these isotopes by assuming an axial(prolate)deformation of^*** properties along the yrast line,such as transition energies and transition probabilities,have also been *** diagrams are plotted to understand their intrinsic multi-quasiparticle structure,which turn out to be dominated by 1-quasiparticle bands for the odd-mass Pm isotopes and 2-quasiparticle bands for the doubly-odd Pm isotopes under *** present study not only confirms the recently reported experimental/theoretical data,but also extends the already available information on the energy levels and adds new information regarding the reduced transition probabilities.

Most methods used by food industries to decontaminate eggs involve washing of egg surface with various chemicals. In this study, the effectiveness of two organic decontaminants viz., acidified sodium chlorite (ASC) and cell free culture supernatant (CFCS) of two lactic acid bacteria (Lactobacillus plantarum and Pediococcus cerevisiae) was evaluated for the decontamination of spiked Salmonella Typhimurium on chicken egg shell surface. Acidified sodium chlorite at 100 μl/L concentration with the contact time of 20 min completely inhibited S. Typhimurium on egg shell surface while at 50 μl/L concentration 1 - 2 log10 units reduction was observed in counts of S. Typhimurium as compared to control group. Likewise, CFCS of P. cerevisiae completely inhibited the growth of S. Typhimurium on 30 min contact, whereas L. plantarum and combination of both were revealed significant reduction in the counts of S. Typhimurium counts.

Background:Although the prevalence of lower urinary tract symptoms(LUTS)is high in the female population,it is even higher in post-menopausal *** frequency,severity,and etiology of LUTS vary among populations and *** study aimed to define the characteristics of LUTS in postmenopausal women and their underlying *** and methods:Overall,74 postmenopausal patients presenting with LUTS in the urological outpatient department were included in the study.A detailed evaluation of LUTS and their underlying etiologies was *** were divided into 2 groups based on age(65 years),and the variation in different factors was compared across the *** were compared using the t test and 1-way analysis of ***:Nocturia was the most common symptom(89.2%)followed by frequency(83.8%).Among voiding LUTS,the most common was a weak stream(63.5%).Frequency,nocturia,urgency,urge urinary incontinence(UI),stress UI,and nocturnal enuresis were more common in patients older than 65 *** and urge UI were recognized to be the most bothersome symptoms by 37%of the study population followed by straining(32%).The mean storage scores,incontinence scores,and quality of life(QoL)scores for patients younger than 65 years and 65 years or older were 6.9 and 8.5(p<0.01),1.8 and 4.1(p<0.01),4.9 and 6.1,*** most common diagnosis was bladder outlet obstruction due to urethral/meatal stenosis(40.5%)followed by an overactive bladder(32.4%),urinary tract infection(10.8%),cystocele(8.1%),urethral prolapse(4.1%),and urethral caruncle(4.1%).Conclusions:Storage LUTS were the most common and increased in both frequency and severity with *** QoL was also more severely affected in older postmenopausal *** outlet obstruction due to meatal with or without distal urethral stenosis was the most common underlying cause of LUTS followed by an overactive *** bladder had the most severe impact on pat

Degradable waste generated from food processing industries has immense potential for producing valuable *** constitute among the most widely consumed fruits in the food processing industry,but their peels remain *** explored the possibility of using apple peel as feedstock for production of alpha-amylase-a commercially important enzyme with role in food industry and bio-ethanol production that is critical to support nutrition and energy *** utilization of locally sourced apple peel as feedstock,optimization of the conditions for the production of alpha-amylase through solid-state fermentation and comparison with potato peel-another widely available feedstock option is *** Bacillus subtilis BS1934 strain was identified as a promising strain that could produce alpha-amylase efficiently at *** obtained values i.e.,17468 and 5229 U/L of alpha-amylase from apple and potato peel,respectively through solid state fermentation in eight days were considered as *** enzyme titres were 3-fold higher with apple peel as compared to potato peel in the medium,indicating superior quality of apple peel feedstock as compared to potato for amylase *** production of amylase using agro-industrial residues,as apple peel may emerge as a cost-effective alternative to amylase from microbial sources for industrial purpose.
