Objective:The aim of the paper is to see how educational and working status of the parents affect the nutritional and immunization status of preschool children in ***:We have used data of more than 24 000 preschool children spread over different states in *** data were collected by National Family Health Survey(NFHS-2) in *** assessing the nutritional status,only the Z-scores of weight-forheight (WHZ) have been computed and for immunization status,it has been seen whether BCG,DpT3,polio3 and measles have been *** who fall below -2SD(-3SD) from median are considered to be moderately(severely) ***:According to the NFHS-2 data,70%of children are vaccinated by BCG,50%receive the full course of DpT,54%get all the three dozes of polio and only 42%are protected from measles by vaccination in *** percentages of moderately and severely wasted children in India are 12.1 and 2.8,*** is a marked regional variation of these *** and multivariate analysis clearly points to the need of educational status of mothers rather than fathers for proper nutritional and immunization status of preschool ***’occupation and working status also have some effect,but not so pronounced as parents’***:The Indian preschool children need particular attention for high risk of wasting and low *** prevalence of malnutrition can be arrested more by improving the mother’s education level rather than their fathers and by raising the standard of living of their house-holds.

Objective:To study the extent of undernutrition at district level and the socio-economic determinants of underweight children aged 0-71 months in West ***:The data were accessed from the Reproductive and Child Health Survey(RCHS-II),which contained information of 7 SSO children and their *** of socio-economic variables about the associated families of these children had also been taken for our *** study computed weight-for-age z-scores to assess the nutritional status of the children using WHO(2006) ***:The prevalence of underweight varied over the *** with very high prevalence of underweight children were Murshidabad,Burdwan,purulia,Medinipur, Howrah and South 24 *** prevalent districts for both boys and girls were Jalpaiguri and *** prevalent districts for both boys and girls were South Dinajpur,Nadia and *** percentage of underweight children were more in rural areas among Muslim families with illiterate parents and low standard of *** Murshidabad,Bankura,Nadia, Medinipur and South 24 parganas districts,i.e.,where prevalence of underweight children were higher,the rural and urban differences were *** characteristics like religion,parents’ educational status and standard of living index showed significant effect on the children’s ***:public intervention programs on the parent’s education and the standard of living of the households at district level should be given high priority to combat the children’s undernutrition problems so far as weight for age is concerned.

Objective:To search adequate epidemiological data on periodontal conditions for the planning of oral health programs in Indian population,and to determine the prevalence of periodontal diseases,in regards to age and gender of urban and rural population in West ***. Methods:22 542 subjects aged 15 years onwards,representative of rural and urban areas of West Bengal were examined for their periodontal conditions using the community periodontal index(CpI).Results:Supra and/or sub gingival calculus dominated as the most frequent score (score 2) among males(76.51%) and females(76.58%),which was least affected in young age group and higher in rural *** of highest score were significant(pp and habitation and had independent effects(ppredominantly typeⅡ(Scaling and improved oral hygiene).Conclusions: The severe periodontal condition(Score 2,3 and 4) is observed among rural males in older age group more than its urban counterparts of West Bengal,India.

Mosquitoes belonging to the genus Aedes pose a significant threat to human health on a global scenario due to their role in transmission of dengue,chikungunya,zika,and yellow *** absence of specific medications and vaccines against these diseases,disease prevention relies on vector ***,in today’s world,vector control is facing major challenges due to the onset of insecticide resistance in *** are four main mechanisms of insecticide resistance,namely,behavioral resistance,reduced penetration/cuticular resistance,metabolic detoxification,and target site resistance;however,the latter two mechanisms have been studied widely in Aedes *** resistance in Aedes mosquitoes is widespread throughout the *** review compiles the degree of insecticide resistance/susceptibility prevailing among different field populations of Aedes mosquitoes *** addition,the review has detailed the mechanisms providing the resistance phenomenon observed in nature in Aedes mosquitoes.

Agriculture faces risks due to increasing stress from climate change,particularly in semi-arid *** of understanding of crop water requirement(CWR)and irrigation water requirement(IWR)in a changing climate may result in crop failure and socioeconomic problems that can become detrimental to agriculture-based economies in emerging nations *** research in CWR and IWR has largely focused on large river basins and scenarios from the Coupled Model Intercomparison project phase 3(CMIp3)and Coupled Model Intercomparison project phase 5(CMIp5)to account for the impacts of climate change on *** basins,however,are more susceptible to regional climate change,with more significant impacts on *** study estimates CWRs and IWRs for five crops(sugarcane,wheat,cotton,sorghum,and soybean)in the pravara River Basin(area of 6537 km^(2))of India using outputs from the most recent Coupled Model Intercomparison project phase 6(CMIp6)General Circulation Models(GCMs)under Shared Socio-economic pathway(SSp)245 and SSp585 *** increase in mean annual rainfall is projected under both scenarios in the 2050s and 2080s using ten selected CMIp6 *** for all crops may decline in almost all of the CMIp6 GCMs in the 2050s and 2080s(with the exceptions of ACCESS-CM-2 and ACCESS-ESM-1.5)under SSp245 and SSp585 *** availability of increasing soil moisture in the root zone due to increasing rainfall and a decrease in the projected maximum temperature may be responsible for this decline in ***,except for soybean and cotton,the projected IWRs for all other three crops under SSp245 and SSp585 scenarios show a decrease or a small increase in the 2050s and 2080s in most CMIp6 *** findings are important for agricultural researchers and water resource managers to implement long-term crop planning techniques and to reduce the negative impacts of climate change and associated rainfall variability to avert crop failure and agricultural

Role of CYp2E1 gene polymorphisms association with hepatitis risk in Northeast India

AIM:To investigate hepatitis virus, genetic and environmental factors, and their interactions in predisposing patients to liver diseases in Northeast India. METHODS:A total of 104 jaundice patients and 124 community controls were included. Serological analysis was performed by routine enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay, and nucleic acid testing for hepatitis viruses was done by polymerase chain reaction (pCR), followed by pCR direct sequencing for viral genotyping. Cytochrome p450 2E1 (CYp2E1) polymorphism was studied by pCR-restriction fragment length polymorphism. Nitrite and volatile nitrosamines in indigenous foods consumed routinely by the Northeast Indian ethnic population were estimated by Griess’s reagent and GC-MS, ***: Hepatitis A virus (HAV) infection was predominantly prevalent (36.5%) in our cohort, followed by hepatitis B virus (HBV), hepatitis E virus (HEV) andhepatitis C virus. HBV genotype D and HEV genotype 1 were the most dominant. CYp2E1 c1/c2 genotype frequency was comparatively higher in alcoholic (pptogenic (p=0.014, OR=8.714) patients, and was associated with significantly higher hepatitis risk (p=0.0.007,OR=6.489). Mutant C allele of Cyp2E1 DraⅠ frequency was comparatively higher in HAV (p=0.006), alcoholic (p =0.003) and cryptogenic (p=0.014) cases, and was associated with overall hepatitis risk (p=0.026, OR=5.083). Indigenous foods, Gundruk, Kharoli, betel leaf and nuts were found to have the highest nitrite content. CONCLUSION: Apart from viral factors, CYp2E1 polymorphism might be associated with increased risk of liver diseases in Northeast India. Indigenous foods that contain nitrite and nitrosamine might be an associated risk factor.

A simple rectangular microstrip antenna on low dielectric constant substrate such as air for improved radiation beam performance is theoretically investigated. The conventional patch antenna fabricated on common substrates always produces quite broader E plane pattern compared to its H plane. In the present investigation, the same microstrip antenna is designed on air substrate with a view to develop an efficient feed for parabolic reflector antenna, which shows an excellent radiation pattern with symmetrical 3 dB beam widths at its both E and H plane. The present antenna compared to conventional structure to show its excellence in the beam performance is presented. The complete quantitative analysis to explore such radiation beam characteristics for both the structures (conventional and the present one) is also presented in this paper. An easy and handful relationship between the length of patch antenna and its fringing length for different types of substrate is established in the background of 3 dB beam widths. The proposed idea has been verified through a commercial software package for a patch operating in X band and a concrete physical insight into the phenomenon is developed.

We study the dispersion properties of surface plasmon（Sp） oscillations in a semi-bounded semiconductor plasma with the effects of the Coulomb exchange（CE） force associated with the spin polarization of electrons and holes as well as the effects of the Fermi degenerate pressure and the quantum Bohm *** from a quantum hydrodynamic model coupled to the poisson equation,we derive the general dispersion relation for surface plasma *** results in this context are *** dispersion properties of the surface waves are analyzed in some particular cases of interest and the relative influence of the quantum forces on these waves are also studied for a nano-sized Ga As semiconductor *** is found that the CE effects significantly modify the behaviors of the Sp *** present results are applicable to understand the propagation characteristics of surface waves in solid density plasmas.

The propagation characteristics of nonlinear ion–acoustic（IA） solitary waves（SWs） are studied in thermal electron–positron–ion plasma considering the effect of relativistic positron beam. Starting from a set of fluid equations and using the reductive perturbation technique, we derive a Korteweg–de Vries（KdV） equation which governs the evolution of weakly nonlinear IA SWs in relativistic beam driven plasmas. The properties of the IA soliton are studied, and it is shown that the presence of relativistic positron beam significantly modifies the characteristics of IA solitons.

The force on a charged dust grain in a plasma due to polarization of thermal ions and degenerate electrons around the grain is derived in the limits of weakly relativistic and ultra-relativistic degeneracy of electrons. It is found that in both these cases, the magnitude of the polarization force is enhanced compared to that in classical plasmas. The influence of this force on dust-acoustic(DA) modes is examined and discussed. It is shown that the DA wave frequency in degenerate plasmas is significantly reduced compared to the classical DA mode.
