Friction and wear characteristics correlating the fiber reinforcement percentage of carbon–carbon (c/c) composites solely developed from petroleum pitch matrices were investigated. This study exhibits the tribo-characteristics of c/c composites developed in a single-step carbonization process for varying loads for the first time without a reimpregnation process. A pin-on-disc tribometer with a sliding speed of 0.5 m/s and loads of 5, 10, and 20 N with a flat tool grade stainless steel pin as a static partner was employed. Further, polarized light optical and scanning electron microscopes (SEM) were utilized for a morphological analysis. Elastic modulus and strength were determined by a compression test. A result analysis is conducted to analyze sliding wear accompanied with minor abrasion. The composites with a high percentage of reinforcement exhibit credible wear resistance and mechanical robustness.

A new series of quinazolin-4（3H）-one derivatives containing a（1 3-diphenyl-1H-pyrazol-4-yl） core with substituents at the 2-position and aromatic or heteroaromatic substituents at the 3-position were synthesized using an L-proline catalyzed one-pot multi-component reaction *** the synthesized compounds were characterized and screened for their antimicrobial,antifungal and anti-tubercular activities.

Understanding of the habitat range of threatened Himalayan medi.i.al plants which are declining in their abundance due to high anthropogenic disturbances is essential for developing conservation strategies and agrotechnologies for cultivation. in this communication, we have discussed the habitat range of two alpine medi.i.al plants, Aconitum naviculare （Bruehl） Stapf and Neopicrorhiza scrophulariiflora （Pennel） Hong in a trans-Himalayan dry valley of central Nepal, Manang district. They are the most prioritized medi.i.al plants of the study area in terms of ethnomedi.i.al uses. A. naviculare occurs on warm and dry south facing slopes between 4090-4650 m asl along with sclerophyllous and thorny alpine scrubs, while N. scrophulariiflora is exclusively found on cool and moist north facing slope between 4000 and 4400 m asl where adequate water is available from snow melt to create a suitable habitat for this wetland dependent species. The soil in rooting zone of the two plants differs significantly in organic carbon （Oc）, organic matter （OM）, total nitrogen （N） and carbon to nitrogen （c/N） ratio. Due to cool and moist condi.i.n of N. scrophulariiflora habitat, accumulation of soil Oc is higher, but soil N content is lower probably due to slow release from litter, higher leaching loss and greater retention in perennial live biomass of the plant. The c/N ratio of soil is more suitable in A. navuculare habitat than that of N scrophulariiflora for N supply. Warm and sunny site with N rich soil can be suitable for cultivation ofA. naviculare, while moist and cool site with organic soil for N. scrophulariiflora. The populations of both the plants are fragmented and small. Due to collection by human and trampling damage by livestock, the population of A. naviculare was found absent in open areas in five of the six sampling sites and it was confined only within the bushes of alpine scrubs. We report a rapid method of green chemistry approach for synthesis of gold nanoparticles（AuNPs）using Lagerstroemia speciosa leaf extract（LSE）. L. speciosa plant extract is known for its effective treatment of diabetes and kidney related problems. The green synthesis of Au NPs was complete within 30 min at 25°c. The same could also be achieved within 2 min at a higher reaction temperature（80°c）. Both UV–visible spectroscopy and transmission electron microscopy results suggest that the morphology and size distribution of Au NPs are dependent on the pH of gold solution,gold concentration,volume of LSE,and reaction time and temperature. comparison between Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy（FT-iR）spectra of LSE and the synthesized Au NPs indicate an active role of polyphenolic functional groups（from gallotannins,lagerstroemin,and corosolic acid）in the green synthesis and capping of Au NPs. The green route synthesized Au NPs show strong photocatalytic activity in the reduction of dyes viz.,methylene blue,methyl orange,bromophenol blue and bromocresol green,and 4-nitrophenol under visible light in the presence of Na BH4. The non-toxic and cost effective LSE mediated Au NPs synthesis proposed in this study is extremely rapid compared to the other reported methods that require hours to days for complete synthesis of Au NPs using various plant extracts. Strong and stable photocatalytic behavior makes Au NPs attractive in environmental applications,particularly in the reduction of organic pollutants in wastewater.

in recent years,there has been a significant surge in demand for electric vehicles(EVs),necessitating accurate prediction of EV charging *** prediction plays a crucial role in evaluating its impact on the power grid,encompassing power management and peak demand *** this paper,a novel deep neural network based onα^(2)-LSTM is proposed to predict the demand for charging from electric vehicles at a 15-minute time ***,we employ AES-128 for station quantization and secure communication with *** proposed algorithm achieves a 9.2%reduction in both the Root Mean Square Error(RMSE)and the mean absolute error compared to LSTM,along with a 13.01%increase in demand *** present a 12-month prediction of EV charging demand at charging stations,accompanied by an effective comparative analysis of Mean Absolute Percentage Error(MAPE)and Mean Percentage Error(MPE)over the last five years using our proposed *** prediction analysis has been conducted using Python programming.

Earth abundant and economical rock salt （Nac1） particles of different sizes （〈3 μm and 5-20 μm） prepared by high energy mechanical milling were used as water-soluble templates for generation of Si with novel nanoscale architectures via low pressure chemical vapor deposition （LPcVD）. Si nanoflakes （SiNF） comprising largely amorphous Si （a-Si） with a small volume fraction of nanocrystalline Si （nc-Si）, and Si nanorods （SiNR） composed of a larger volume fraction of crystalline Si （c-Si） and a small volume fraction of a-Si resulted from modi.i.ation of the Naci crystals. SiNF yielded first-cycle discharge and charge capacities of -2,830 and 2,175 mAh.g-1, respective134 at a current rate of 50 mA.g-1 with a first-cycle irreversible loss （FiR loss） of -15%-20%. SiNR displayed first-cycle discharge and charge capacities of -2,980 and -2,500 mAh-g-1, respectively, at a current rate of 50 mA-g-1 with an FiR loss of -12%-15%. However, at a current rate of 1 A.g-1, SiNF exhibited a stable discharge capacity of -810 mAh-g-1 at the end of 250 cycles with a fade rate of -0.11% loss per cycle, while SiNR showed a stable specific discharge capacity of -740 mAh.g-1 with a fade rate of -0.23% loss per cycle. The morphology of the nanostructures and compositions of the different phases/phase of Si influence the performance of SiNF and SiNK, making them attractive anodes for lithium-ion batteries.

cover crop and nitrogen （N） fertilization may maintain soil organic matter under bioenergy perennial grass where removal of aboveground biomass for feedstock to produce cellulosic ethanol can reduce soil quality. We evaluated the effects of cover crops and N fertilization rates on soil organic carbon （c）（SOc）, total N （STN）, ammonium N （NH4-N）, and nitrate N （NO3-N） contents at the 0-5, 5-15, and 15-30 cm depths under perennial bioenergy grass from 2010 to 2014 in the southeastern USA. Treatments included unbalanced combinations of perennial bioenergy grass, energy cane （Saccharum spontaneum L.） or elephant grass （Pennisetum pur- pureum Schumazh.）, cover crop, crimson clover （Trifolium incarnatum L.）, and N fertilization rates （0, 100, and 200 kg N ha-l）. cover crop biomass and c and N contents were greater in the treatment of energy cane with cover crop and 100 kg N ha-1 than in the treatment of energy cane and elephant grass. The SOc and STN contents at 0-5 and 5-15 cm were 9%-20% greater in the treatments of elephant grass with cover crop and with or without 100 kg N ha-1 than in most of the other treatments. The soil NO3-N content at 0--5 cm was 31%-45% greater in the treatment of energy cane with cover crop and 100 kg N ha-1 than in most of the other treatments. The SOc sequestration increased from 0.1 to 1.0 Mg c ha-1 year-1 and the STN sequestration from 0.03 to 0.11 Mg N ha-1 year-1 from 2010 to 2014 for various treatments and depths. in contrast, the soil NH4-N and NO3-N contents varied among treatments, depths, and years. Soil c and N storages can be enriched and residual NO3-N content can be reduced by using elephant grass with cover crop and with or without N fertilization at a moderate rate.

Background:diabetic ketoacidosis(DKA)is a common acute complication of diabetes mellitus requiring aggressive medical *** attempted to study the incidence and various clinical and laboratory variables associated with acute gastrointestinal bleeding(AGiB)and acute upper AGiB(AUGiB)in patients with ***:We conducted a retrospective chart review of all the patients admitted to our hospital with DKA between January 2010 and December *** collected demographic,clinical,laboratory,endoscopy and hospitalization details using an electronicmedical-record *** were di.i.ed into two groups based on the occurrence of gastrointestinal ***:A total of 234 patients with DKA were admitted during this period,of which 27(11.5%)patients had documented *** majority of patients had hematemesis(n=22,9.4%)except two had rectal and three had occult *** did not notice any difference in age,gender and ethnicity distribution between the two *** was no difference in the serum levels of electrolytes,anion gap,pH and hemoglobin A1c between the two ***,patients with AGiB had significantly higher initial blood glucose levels(738 vs 613 mg/dL,p=0.014).There was also increased mortality(7.4%vs 4.8%)in patients with AGiB,but this did not reach statistical ***:We conclude that higher initial serum blood glucose was associated with increased incidence of AGiB in patients admitted with *** also noted increased in-patient mortality in patients with DKA who had AGiB,even though statistically *** aggressive measures to correct blood glucose levels may result in decreased incidence of AGiB,thereby reducing mortality during hospitalization in patients with DKA.
