Mountain ecosystem, on the earth, has plenty of natural resources. In Himachal Pradesh all the rivers are snowfed and therefore rich in water resources. These resources have been supporting enough for the generation of electricity through introducing hydropower projects since the last decade However, every developmental activity has its own negative impacts on the surrounding environment. Due to the fragile nature of topography and delicacy of ecology of the Himalaya, it results in lot of disturbances because of high degree of human interferences like construction of major hydropower projects. The increased extent of geological hazards, such as landslides, rock fall and soil erosion, have mainly due to alike developmental interventions in the natural ecosystem. So understanding and analysing such impacts of the hydropower projects have mainly been on the environment in various forms but natural hazards have been frequent ones. The present study, therefore, focuses mainly on the Parbati Stage II （800 MW） and the Parbati Stage III （520 MW） hydropower projects; both of which fall within the Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh. based on the perception survey of the local communities, the existing land use pattern, status of total acquired land of the residents by hydropower projects, frequent natural hazards and resultant loss to the local communities due to upcoming construction of hydropower projects surrounding to the Parbati Stage II and III have been analysed in the paper. Also, the preventive measures to mitigate these adverse impacts have been suggested to strengthen these projects in eco-friendly manner in the mountain context.

bACKGROUND:Minimal hepatic encephalopathy (MHE) impairs quality of life and predicts overt hepatic encephalopathy (HE) in cirrhotic *** of MHE requires cumbersome *** is effective in the treatment of *** study aimed to evaluate the use of critical flicker frequency (CFF) for the diagnosis of MHE in cirrhotic patients after ***:One hundred and ten patients were evaluated by psychometry (number connection tests A,b or figure connection tests A,b),P300 auditory event related potential (P300ERP),venous ammonia,and CFF for *** was diagnosed by abnormal psychometry (>2SD age matched controls) and *** patients were treated with lactulose for one *** was defined by normalization (both psychometry and ***:Of the 110 patients [Child Turcott Pugh score A:b:C 39:42:29,(age 41.6±11.6 years,M:F 82:28)],75 (68%) had abnormal results of psychometric tests,and 74 (67%) had prolonged *** (20%) patients with abnormal results of psychometric tests had normal *** sixty (54.5%) patients were diagnosed as having *** treatment for one month,34 (57%) recovered while 26 (43%) continued to have abnormal resents of psychometric or P300ERP *** was before treatment and in 20 (33.3%) after *** sensitivity,specificity,positive predictive value,negative predictive value,and diagnostic accuracy for the assessment of recovery of MHE were 65%,91%,85%,77% and 80%,***:CFF is a simple,relatively reliable,and accurate test without any dependence on age or literacy in the diagnosis and assessment of recovery of patients with MHE.

The vanadium（V） peroxo complexes containing Mannich base ligands having composition Na[VO（O2）2（L-L）]·H2O [where L-L=morpholinobenzyl acetamide （MbA）, piperidinobenzyl acetamide （PbA）, morpholinobenzyl benzamide （Mbb）, piperidinobenzyl benzamide （Pbb）, morpholinomethyl benzamide （MMb）, piperidinomethyl benzamide （PMb）, morpholinobenzyl formamide （MbF）, piperdinobenzyl formamide （PbF）] have been reported. The complexes have been prepared by stirring vanadium pentoxide with excess of 30% aque- ous-H202 followed by treatment with ethanolic solution of the ligand and finally maintained the pH of the reaction mixture by adding dilute solution of sodium hydroxide. The synthesized complexes have been characterized by various physico-chemical techniques, via elemental analysis, molar conductivity, magnetic susceptibility measure- ments, infra red, electronic, mass, ~H NMR spectral and TGA/DTA studies. These studies revealed that the synthesized complexes are uni-univalent electrolytes and diamagnetic in nature. The ligands are bound to metal in a bi- dentate mode through carbonyl oxygen and the ring nitrogen. Thermal analysis result provides conclusive evidence for the presence of one molecule of lattice water in the complexes. Mass spectra confirm the molecular mass of the complexes.

The Ce-Co-doped biFeO3 multiferroic, bi（1-x）Ce）xFe（1-x）CoxO3（x = 0.00, 0.01, 0.03, and 0.05）, has been prepared by a sol-gel auto-combustion method and analyzed through Raman spectroscopy, photoluminescence, and UV-visible spectroscopy. We have observed an anomalous intensity of the second-order Raman mode at - 1260 cm^-1 in pure bFO and suppressed intensity in doped samples, which indicates the presence of spin two-phonon coupling in these *** photoluminescence spectra show reduction in the intensity of emission with the increasing dopant concentration, which indicates the high charge separation efficiency. A sharp absorption with three charge transfer（C-T） and two d-d transitions are shown by UV-visible spectra in the visible region. The band gap of biFeO3（bFO） is decreasing with increasing dopant concentrations and the materials are suitable for photovoltaic applications.

Among a total of 29 blood group systems and over 600 different blood group antigens discovered so far, AbO and Rhesus are the most important blood group systems. The most significance rhesus antigen is Rh-D because of its immunogenicity. The sound knowledge of AbO and Rh-D antigens and its distribution in population is essential for the effective management of blood transfusion services, in population genetic studies, in resolving medico-legal issues and more importantly in compatibility test in blood transfusion practice. Study is aimed to provide data on AbO and Rh-D distribution in Gwalior region (Madhya Pradesh) and its comparison with related studies in India and abroad. Total 90,000 samples in 4 years from January 2004 to December 2007 were grouped for AbO, Rh-D and their subgroups at blood bank of Gajra Raja Medical College, along with Emergency blood bank, Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, India. blood group distribution among these samples showed phenotypes A, b, Ab and O as 22.7%, 37.5%, 9% and 30.8% respectively. A2 and A2b were 8.0% and 8.6% respectively. The Rh-D negative phenotype was found 8.9% and DU variants/weaker D was 0.036% among the sample tested. In cord blood samples, the incidence of A2 and A2b were 18.6% and 20.2% respectively.

A view in object oriented databases corresponds to virtual schemawith restructured generalization and decomposition hierarchies. Numbers of viewcreation methodologies have been proposed. A major drawback of existing method-ologies is that they do not maintain the closure property. That is, the result of aquery does not have the same semantics as embodied in the object oriented datamodel. Therefore, this paper presents a view creation methodology that derives aclass in response to a user's query, integrates derived class in global schema (i.e.,considers the problem of classes moving in class hierarchy) and selects the requiredclasses from global schema to create the view for user's query. Novel idea of viewcreation includes: (a) an object algebra for class derivation and customization (wherethe derived classes in terms of object instances and procedure/methods are studied),(b) maintenance of closure property, and (c) classification algorithm which providesmechanism to deal with the problem of a class moving in a class hierarchy.

A rare occurrence of a microspherule has been found in the infratrappean sediments,encountered below338 m thick Deccan volcanic cover in KLR-1 scientific borehole,drilled in the epicentral zone of the 1993 Killari earthquake(Maharashtra,India).Palynological studies of the sediments indicate their age as Early Permian(Asselian,298-295 Ma) for *** electron microscope studies reveal that the spherule from the infratrappeans,is having a similar composition to that of the Neoarchean amphibolite to granulite facies mid crustal *** spherule is non-spherical in nature,containing mostly FeO(10.70±0.20 wt.%),CaO(13.8±0.5 wt.%),Al203(7.78±0.30 wt.%),MgO(6.47±0.3 wt.%),Si02(47,46±0.50 wt.%),Ti02(2.47±0.3 wt.%).K20(1.89±0.20 wt.%).and Cl(0.33±0.05 wt.%).Since the Fe composition of the spherule is almost same as the basement rock(10.5 wt.%),and the chlorine content is also in the same range as the basement(0.04-0.24 wt.%),it would suggest possibility of an extraterrestrial impact over the Indian terrain during the erstwhile Gondwana sedimentation period that may be associated with the Permian-Triassic mass extinction,the most severe one in the Earth's history.
