Assessment of self- and cross-absorbed SAF values for HDRK-man using GEANT4 code: internal photon and electron emitters

The ultimate need to account for the partial amount of energy deposited in target tissue/organ resulting from internal inhalation,ingestion,and injection intakes of radionuclides,defined by the Medical Internal Radiation Dosimetry committee as the specific absorbed fraction(SAF),has become *** this study,we assessed the SAF values for self-and cross-absorption,which were calculated for a uniform distribution of monoenergetic photon and electron emitters with energies ranging from 15 keV to 3 *** voxelized human phantom‘‘High-Definition Reference Korean-man’’(HDRK-man),which was implemented using the Monte Carlo simulation code GEANT4(version 10.1),was used for several combinations of target–source *** results were compared to those of the International Commission on Radiological Protection Reference(ICRP133)and Zubal *** was found that the SAF values of the three models have a similar ***,the SAF values for the HDRK-man phantom were higher than those of the other two models,with a relatively good agreement with those for the ICRP133 phantom(differences of 13.9±2.8 and 12.1±3.2 for photon and electron emitters,respectively).To analyze the differences in SAF values,we calculated the chord length distributions(CLDs)for selected target–source *** parameters of organ mass(or volume)and CLDs,in addition to the adopted computational procedures,mainly cause such *** realistic radionuclide emission spectra,an overall overestimation was observed when computing the S values for three radiopharmaceuticals studied(I-131,In-111,and Lu-177)and for liver–spleen intra-and inter-organ absorption when compared with published *** new arrangement of S and SAF values is expected to add value for multidisciplinary research and clinical communities.

The Ediacaran to early Cambrian Blovice accretionary complex,Bohemian Massif,hosts abundant chert bodies that formed on an oceanic plate and were involved in subduction beneath the northern margin of *** relationships of cherts to their host,their microstructure and elemental as well as isotopic compositions revealed diverse processes of chert petrogenesis reflecting depositional environment and position on the oceanic *** deep-water cherts formed through a hydrothermal precipitation of silica-rich gels on outer trench swell of the subducted slab with none or only minor addition of terrigenous *** the contrary,the shallow-water cherts formed in lagoons on seamount slopes,and at least some of them represent a product of hydrothermal replacement of former carbonate and/or evaporite *** both chert types,the hydrothermal fluids were of low temperature and continuous pervasive hydrothermal alteration of oceanic crust,together with an elevated Si content in Neoproterozoic seawater,served as the major source of *** the other hand,minor carbon enrichment in chert is mostly linked to variable incorporation of organic matter that was deposited on the *** earth element(REE)systematics of the cherts indicate predominantly oxygenated environment for the shallow-water cherts whereas the deep-water cherts were deposited in diverse redox conditions,depending on their distance from hydrothermal *** these data,we demonstrate that the cherts once formed a part of Ocean Plate Stratigraphy(OPS)now dismembered and mixed with terrigenous siliciclastic material to form OPS mé*** our data with those from the existing literature,we show that cherts can serve as significant markers of OPS since the Archean,recording a complex interplay between seafloor-related volcanic(production of MORB-and OIB-like magmas)and sedimentary processes,hydrothermal activity at mid-ocean ridges and seamount chains as well as at outer slopes o

Pathogenesis of chronic myeloid leukemia(CML)has mostly been studied with regard to the oncogenic role of BCR/ABL fusion,however,recent disclosures have declared that the challenges with the treatment of CML patients would not be resolved until the role of other aberrancies is *** the involvement of cyclin-dependent kinases(CDKs)in the pathogenesis of CML,the present study aimed to investigate the effects of a multi-CDK inhibitor AT7519 on BCR/ABL-harboring CML-derived K562 *** results showed that AT7519 effectively reduced the survival of K562 and induced its anti-proliferative effect through the induction of G2/M arrest due to elevated p21 and *** resulting data also revealed that either direct or indirect suppression of c-Myc using specific c-Myc inhibitor 10058-F4 and selective PI3K inhibitor CAL-101 resulted in a superior cytotoxicity,suggesting that the activation of PI3K pathway could attenuate antileukemic effects of the inhibitor,at least partly,through a c-Mycdependent *** the best of our knowledge,to date,no study has addressed the effect of autophagy on CML cell response to AT7519,and,herein,we proposed for the first time that the suppression of autophagy boosted AT7519 cytotoxicity against ***,we suggested that selective CDK inhibitor AT7519 exerted antileukemic effect against CML cells and propose a novel therapeutic application for the inhibitor either as a single agent or in combination with c-Myc and/or PI3K inhibitors.

A Comparative Study on Correlation Measures of Pure Bipartite States through Incomparability

The entanglement of a pure bipartite state is uniquely measured by the von-Neumann entropy of its reduced density matrices. Though it cannot specify all the non-local characteristics of pure entangled states. It was proven that for every possible value of entanglement of a bipartite system, there exists an infinite number of equally entangled pure states, not comparable(satisfies Nielsen’s criteria) to each other. In this work, we investigate other correlation measures of pure bipartite states that are able to differentiate the quantum correlations of the states with entropy of entanglement. In Schmidt rank 3, we consider the whole set of states having same entanglement and compare how minutely such states can be distinguished by other correlation measures. Then for different values of entanglement we compare the sets of states belonging to the same entanglement and also investigate the graphs of different correlation measures. We extend our search to Schmidt rank 4 and 5 also.

We provide a new class of interior solution of a(2+1)-dimensional anisotropic star in Finch and Skea spacetime corresponding to the BTZ black hole. We develop the model by considering the MIT bag model EOS and a particular ansatz for the metric function grrproposed by Finch and Skea [M.R. Finch and J.E.F. Skea, Class. ***. 6(1989) 467]. Our model is free from central singularity and satisfies all the physical requirements for the acceptability of the model.

Survival analysis of breast cancer liver metastasis treated by hepatectomy: A propensity score analysis for Chinese women in Hong Kong

Background: Survival of patients with breast cancer liver metastasis is very poor. This study aimed to analyze the survival outcome of hepatectomy for this patient population. Methods: From January 1995 to December 2014, 2522 patients with liver cancer received hepatectomy at our hospital. Twenty-one of them, all female, received the operation for breast cancer liver metastasis. Performance was compared with patients with colorectal liver metastasis treated with hepatectomy after propensity score analysis in a ratio of 1:3. Results: Twenty-one patients received hepatectomy for breast cancer. After propensity score matching, 63 patients who had hepatectomy for colorectal cancer were selected for comparison. There was no significant difference in immediate or short-term outcomes between the two groups of patients in terms of operative time, blood loss and surgical morbidities. All patients with breast cancer had R0 resection. No hospital death occurred. After hepatectomy, the 1-, 3- and 5-year overall survival rates were 100.0%, 58.9% and 58.9% respectively in patients with breast cancer. The 1-, 3- and 5-year overall survival rates were 95.0%, 57.2% and 39.7% respectively in patients with colorectal cancer (P = 0.572). On multivariate analysis, triple negative status was the only independent poor prognostic factor in breast cancer liver metastasis (OR = 6.411;95% CI: 1.351–30.435;P = 0.019). Conclusions: Hepatectomy is a safe and effective way of treating breast cancer liver metastasis at experienced centers where multidisciplinary adjuvant treatments are available. It can be considered more frequently as part of the multidisciplinary care for this patient population.

The multiplexed,point-of-care measurement of specific antibodies could improve the speed with which diseases are diagnosed and their treatment *** this end,we are developing E-DNA scaffold sensors,which consist of a rigid,nucleic acid“scaffold”attached on one end to an electrode and presenting both a redox reporter and an epitope on the *** the absence of antibody,the reporter efficiently transfers electrons when interrogated ***-induced steric hindrance limits movement,reducing electron transfer in a manner that is both easily measured and quantitatively related to target *** we have used monoclonal antibodies to explore the analytical performance of E-DNA sensors,showing that they support the rapid,single-step,quantitative detection of multiple antibodies in small volume ***,in contrast,we employ authentic human samples to better explore the platform’s clinical ***,we developed E-DNA sensors targeting three HIV-specific antibodies and then compared the analytical and clinical performance of these against those of gold standard serological *** so we find that,although the multistep amplification of an ELISA leads to a lower detection limits,the clinical sensitivity of ELISAs,E-DNA sensors and lateral-flow dipsticks are indistinguishable across our test *** thus appears that,by merging the quantitation and multiplexing of ELISAs with the convenience and speed of dipsticks,E-DNA scaffold sensors could significantly improve on current serological practice.

Effects of mindfulness-based intervention programs on sleep among people with common mental disorders:A systematic review and meta-analysis

Eportfolio and Education for Sustainable Development （ESD） Fusion： An Innovation for 21st Century Technology

The purpose of this study is to provide a concrete innovation on how Education for Sustainable Development （ESD） is integrated into higher education using Advanced Educational Statistics as its platform. With this, university faculty, master＇s degree students and administrators can make appropriate strategies to become globally competitive and responsive to the sustainability mantra. A successful innovation has been developed, and found to be relevant and achievable. The key ingredient of this innovation is to utilize statistics as a platform of ESD fused with Multiple intelligences （MI）, Higher-Order Thinking Skills （HOTs） and latest technology. Moreover, this paper used a descriptive-correlation design, which identified the difficulties encountered by the master＇s degree students in making their innovations; then determined the relationship between the attitudes of students toward e-portfolio and their level of fusing ESD in statistics relative to： MI, HOTs and latest technology. Multiple regression analysis was utilized to predict its relationships. This innovation is highly appropriate for multidisciplinary, international students. It connects ESD principles with practice as it enables university＇s effort to contribute to ESD.
