NGLY1 Deficiency is an ultra-rare autosom.l recessively inherited disorder. Characteristic sym.tom. include am.ng others, developm.ntal delays, m.vem.nt disorders, liver function abnorm.lities, seizures, and problem. with tear form.tion. m.vem.nts are hyperkinetic and m.y include dysm.tric, choreo-athetoid, m.oclonic and dystonic m.vem.nt elem.nts. To date, there have been no quantitative reports describing arm.m.vem.nts of individuals with NGLY1 Deficiency. This report provides quantitative inform.tion about a series of arm.m.vem.nts perform.d by an individual with NGLY1 Deficiency and an aged-m.tched neurotypical participant. Three categories of arm.m.vem.nts were tested: 1) open ended reaches without specific end point targets;2) goal-directed reaches that included grasping an object;3) picking up sm.ll objects from.a table placed in front of the participants. Arm.m.vem.nt kinem.tics were obtained with a cam.ra-based m.tion analysis system.and “initiation” and “m.intenance” phases were identified for each m.vem.nt. The com.ination of the two phases was labeled as a “com.lete” m.vem.nt. Three-dim.nsional analysis techniques were used to quantify the m.vem.nts and included hand trajectory pathlength, joint m.tion area, as well as hand trajectory and joint jerk cost. These techniques were required to fully characterize the m.vem.nts because the NGLY1 individual was unable to perform.m.vem.nts only in the prim.ry plane of progression instead producing m.tion across all three planes of m.vem.nt. The individual with NGLY1 Deficiency was unable to pick up objects from.a table or effectively com.lete m.vem.nts requiring crossing the m.dline. The successfully com.leted m.vem.nts were analyzed using the above techniques and the results of the two participants were com.ared statistically. NGLY1 Deficiency is an autosom.l recessive congenital disorder that has been identified in less than 100 individuals. m.st individuals with NGLY1 Deficiency display hyperkinetic m.vem.nt disorders, including choreiform. athetoid, dystonic m.oclonic, dyskinetic, and dysm.tric m.vem.nts. Developing a consistent and concise consensus on the classification and evaluation of trem.rs is essential to forward the research and treatm.nt of trem.rs. It has also been reported that som. individuals with NGLY1 Deficiency dem.nstrate trem.r, but such trem.r has never been form.lly investigated. The prim.ry objective of this study is to determ.ne if an individual with NGLY1 Deficiency dem.nstrates an identifiable trem.r during a series of arm.m.vem.nts and, if so, describe the frequency and power characteristics of that trem.r. Arm.m.vem.nt kinem.tics were obtained using a 16-cam.ra Vicon system. and tim. series trajectory waveform. for three planes of a m.rker placed on the hand were developed. Custom.m.TLAB scripts were utilized to com.ute Fast Fourier Transform.tions of the data within the identified waveform.segm.nts. A m.an frequency of 2.30 Hz (SD = 1.05) with a m.an power of 5.02 |P1(f)| (SD = 4.63) suggests that our participant’s kinem.tic data did display a persistent trem.r in both hands across all tasks and m.vem.nt planes. Analyses of the reaching hand and the non-reaching hand suggest the participant displayed an action trem.r in both postural and intention (kinetic) trem.rs. Future directions should include assessing additional individuals with NGLY1 Deficiency to determ.ne if the trem.r is a distinguishable disorder behavior. Additionally, evaluating other anatom.cal sites, such as the elbow, head, and lower lim.s, would provide further insights into the characteristics of this trem.r.

Soil water and nutrient status are both of m.jor im.ortance for plant appearance and growth *** objective of this study was to understand the effect of biochar(1.5%)and a biochar-com.ost m.xture(1.5%biochar+1.5%com.ost)on the perform.nce of Phragm.tes karka plants grown on a synthetic nutrient-poor sandy clay soil(50% sand,30% clay,and 20% gravel).Indicators of plant perform.nce,such as growth,lignocellulosic biom.ss,water status(leaf water potential,osm.tic potential,and turgor potential),m.neral nutrition status,leaf gas exchange,and chlorophyll fluorescence,and soil respiration(carbon dioxide(CO2)flux)were assessed under greenhouse ***-treated plants had higher growth rates and lignocellulosic biom.ss production than control plants with no biochar and no *** was also a significant increase in soil respiration in the treatm.nts with biochar,which stim.lated m.crobial *** increase in soil water-holding capacity after biochar am.ndm.nt caused significant im.rovem.nts in plant water status and plant ion(K^+,m.^2+,and Ca^2+)contents,leading to an increase in net photosynthesis and a higher energy-use efficiency of photosystem.***-treated plants had lower oxidative stress,increased water-use efficiency,and decreased soil respiration,and the biochar-com.ost m.xture resulted in even greater im.rovem.nts in growth,leaf turgor potential,photosynthesis,nutrient content,and soil gas *** results suggest that biochar and com.ost prom.te plant growth with respect to nutrient uptake,water balance,and photosynthetic system.*** sum.ary,both the soil am.ndm.nts studied could increase opportunities for *** to sequester CO2 and produce m.re fodder bio-active com.ounds and biom.ss for bio-energy on nutrient-poor degraded soils.

Following the natural structure of the nacre,the m.terial studied consists of a m.ltitude of hexagonal tiles that are glued together in an offset m.nner with a ductile *** so-called“wood nacre”consists of m.croscopic tiles of birch wood veneer with a thickness of 0.8 m. and a size of 20 or 10 m. in diam.ter in order to m.m.c the aragonite tiles and the ductile PUR-adhesive corresponds to the layers of collagen in between.E-m.dulus(m.E),bending strength(m.R)and im.act bending strength of the sam.les were determ.ned and com.ared with reference sam.les of birch lam.nated *** hierarchical layered structure of the tiles does not cause any relevant loss in *** nacre,“wood nacre”also shows tough fracture behaviour and a high hom.genization ***,strain hardening and high fracture toughness of the natural m.del could not be fully *** reason for this is the insufficient ratio between the strength and stiffness of the veneer layers and the *** adjusting the size of the tiles,increasing the strength and surface roughness of the veneers,*** densification,and using m.re ductile adhesives that can be applied in sm.ller layer thicknesses,it should be possible to better reproduce the natural ratios of nacre and thus achieve a significant im.rovem.nt in the m.terial properties of“wood nacre”.In addition to the m.chanical properties,the high potential of the new m.terial lies in the possibility of producing 3D shell-shaped elem.nts for lightweight wood hybrid construction.

The flexibility of m.lecular catalysts is highly coveted for the electrochem.cal reduction of carbon dioxide(CO_(2)) to carbon m.noxide(CO) in both hom.geneous and heterogeneous *** the electrocatalytic activity of m.lecular catalysts has been widely studied in H-cells;their less studied capabilities in m.re efficient flow cell reactors have the potential to rival that of heterogeneous *** this work,a com.arative study of am.no functionalized iron-tetraphenylporphyrins(am.no-Fe-TPPs) im.obilized onto carbonaceous m.terials in both H-cells and flow cells was conducted to selectively reduce CO_(2) to *** a flow cell set up operating in alkaline m.dia,the resulting hybrid catalyst exhibits 87% faradaic efficiency(FE) with extraordinary current density(j) of 119 m./cm.(2) and turnover frequency(TOF) of 14 s^(-1) at-1.0 V *** rem.rkable catalytic activity was achieved through thoughtful com.ination of m.lecular and flow cell design that provides an effective strategy for future im.obilized heterogeneous approaches toward CO_(2) reduction reactions(CO_(2) RRs).
