Foraminifera are highly diverse and have a long evolutionary *** key bioindicators,their phylogenetic schemes are of great importance for paleogeographic applications,but may be hard to recognize *** phylogenetic relationships within the prominent genus Amphistegina are still *** studies on Amphistegina have so far only focused on genetic diversity within single species and suggested a cryptic diversity that demands for further *** molecular sequencing-based approaches,different mass spectrometry-based proteomics approaches are increasingly used to give insights into the relationship between samples and organisms,especially as these do not require reference *** better understand the relationship of amphisteginids and test different proteomics-based approaches we applied de novo peptide sequencing and similarity clustering to several populations of Amphistegina lobifera,*** and *** also analyzed the dominant photosymbiont community to study their influence on holobiont *** analyses indicate that especially de novo peptide sequencing allows to reconstruct the relationship among foraminiferal holobionts,although the detected separation of *** from *** and *** may be partly influenced by their different photosymbiont *** resulting dendrograms reflect the separation in two lineages previously suggested and provide a basis for future studies.

Hydrocarbon generation from sedimentary organic matter(SOM)with an original net C oxidation state(OS,-1–-2)is a disproportionation reaction involving the transfer of internal(“organic”)hydrogen and producing oxidized C(up to OS=+4)and reduced C(down to OS=-4).The contribution of extrinsic(“inorganic”)hydrogen could lead to an increase of hydrocarbon yields,but mechanisms and potential sources are still unclear,although it is supported by some experimental *** this study,we have analyzed quantitatively the effect of increasing hydrogen fugacity on the hydrocarbon generation behavior of the Cambro-Ordovician Alum shale at 350℃and 40 *** fugacity in the experimental system was controlled by the magnetite-hematite(MH)*** experimental data confirm that a more reducing environment will increase overall hydrocarbon yields and depress CO_(2) *** elevated hydrogen fugacity was found to correlate with an increase in δ^(13)C isotopic composition of methane and a decrease of δ^(13)C values in CO_(2),ethane and *** demonstrates that elevated hydrogen fugacity constrained by water-rock reaction in sedimentary basins can enhance hydrocarbon generation by“hydrocracking”.This mechanism of hydrocarbon generation by organic-inorganic interactions might be ubiquitous in the deeper sections of sedimentary basins(approximately 4–10 km).Thus,it will extend the connotation of the current theory on petroleum *** level of hydrogen fugacity,constrained by water-rock reactions,increases with depth and may thus activate over-maturity sedimentary organic matter to produce more *** end of hydrocarbon generation will thus move to a greater depth than predicted by the traditional *** will be correlated to the capacity of the buffer system,which should,in consequence,be taken into account in petroleum exploration,similar to the hydrogen index(HI)of *** extension of the fundamental theory will help to enlarge the area of petro

Owing to the demographic development, the aging male will require more consideration in future. In contrast to arapid decline of estradiol during menopause in women, the process of aging in the male is retarded and subject to highindividual variations. Impairment of spermatogenesis is observed as a continuous process occurring over decades. How-ever, only about 50% of men in their eighties show complete loss of fertility. In principle, spermatogenesis may be re-tained well into senescence. Of importance for the individual health condition is the fact that the number of Leydig cellsdeclines with advancing age. Thus, altered sex hormone concentrations in aging men result from both functional distur-bances and a gradual reduction in Leydig cells. Furthermore, an impaired feed-back mechanism of the pituitary-gonadalaxis occurs, with disappearance of the circadian testosterone (T) rhythm. LH and FSH levels are increased, and a re-duced bioavailability of sex hormones is observed. Lower total testosterone concentrations in men over 60 years are ac-companied by clinical signs of reduced virility, such as decreased muscle mass and strength as well as reduced sexualhair growth and libido. An age-related decline in androgen secretion and plasma testosterone levels therefore suggeststhe use of androgen supplementation. However, there is a lack of risk-benefit long-term studies. Increased research inthe male is mandatory to meet the requirements of the aging population. This should include the availability of preciseepidemiological data about the frequency of partial androgen deficiency in aging males (PADAM).(Asian J Androl 2001 Mar; 3: 1-7)

Objective To explore the effect of electroacupuncture(EA)intervention on the vasoconstriction of cerebral artery smooth muscle cells after cerebral *** Male Wistar rats were randomly divided into 3 groups by a random number table:the model group(n=24),the EA group(n=24),and the normal group(n=6).The model and the EA groups were divided into different time subgroups at 0.5,1,3,and 6 h after middle cerebral artery occlusion(MCAO),with 6 rats in each *** model was established using intraluminal suture occlusion *** EA group was given EA treatment at acupoint Shuigou(GV 26)instantly after MCAO for 20 *** contents of cerebrovascular smooth muscle MLCK,the 3 subunits of myosin light chain phosphatase(MLCP)MYPT1,PP1c-δand M20,as well as myosin-ATPase activity were detected using immunohistochemistry and Western *** The overall expression level of the MYPT1 and PP1c-δin the model group was significantly higher(Pr EA intervention,the 0.5 h group expression level was close to that of the normal group(P>0.05),and the other subgroups were still significantly higher than the normal group(Pr EA intervention,the expression level of each subgroup was significantly lower than the corresponding model *** was a significant difference between the 0.5 and 1 h subgroups(Prence was also observed between the 3 and 6 h subgroups(Prule gradually increased with the prolongation of infarction time within 6 h after *** EA intervention can inhibit contraction of cerebral vascular smooth muscle cells and regulate smooth muscle relaxation by regulating MLCK pathway.

Applying laser-speckle techniques in material sciences as well as in methods to characterize surface con- ditions of specimen has become the method of choice, especially if a non-contacting principle is sought. This is almost always the case for specimen that are small in at least one dimension as for example in the materiM testing of foils, fibres, or micromaterials and certainly also if elevated test-temperatures are preventing standard gauges. This letter discusses in some detail sources of error that are quite often over- looked or not even considered as significant at all, but still carry the potential to introduce uncertainties well above the system design specifications.
