Epidemiological Study of Ametropia at the CHU-BSS of Kati

Introduction: Ametropias or refractive errors are pathologies commonly encountered in ophthalmology characterized by the projection on the retina of a blurry image. There are several types of ametropia and each of them has a specific means of correction. In the literature, numerous data have been reported on the issue through studies that were mostly carried out on infant populations. To better treat ametropia in a more formal way, it is important to know their general characteristics within a larger population, hence the present investigation, the aim of which is to carry out an epidemiological study of ametropia at the Kati University Hospital-BSS. Materials and Methods: The study was carried out at Kati University Hospital-BSS between January 1 and December 31, 2022 and included 663 ametropic patients of all ages. Results: During the study period, 663 cases of ametropia were diagnosed out of 1678 new consultations, representing an incidence of 39.51%. Patients aged between 21 and 40 years were more affected. Depending on the type, these ametropias were dominated by compound astigmatism with 68.75% followed by isolated hyperopia and isolated astigmatism. Visual fatigue was the most mentioned reason for consultation. The female gender was in the majority with 70.9%. Low ametropia (Discussion: The growing visual needs of young people, especially with new information and communication technologies, would push them to consult the ophthalmologist more, and therefore to want optical correction in the event of a refractive anomaly, which would partly explain their high frequency in this age group. Conclusion: It is important to know the general characteristics of ametropia in the general population in order to improve the quality of life of patients affected by it through efficient therapeutic solutions.

Synopsis of Leymus Hochst.(Triticeae:Poaceae)

Leymus is a genus in the Triticeae tribe, Poaceae. The taxa of this genus are allopolyploid species which possess the Ns and Xm genomes. According to cytological, cytogenetic and molecular genetic analyses, some species of Hystrix and Elymus ought to be transferred to this genus. A world revision of the genus Leymus is needed. In this paper we summarize experimental results, provide a key to sections, species and varieties, and list all the taxa we recognize in Leymus with their synonyms. This synopsis is a new taxonomic system to be used for the revision of Leymus.

Clonidine attenuates morphine withdrawal and subsequent drug sensitization in rhesus monkeys

Aim:Clonidine is an α2adrenoceptor agonist that is frequently used to reducewithdrawal symptoms during opioid detoxification in *** long-termeffects of clonidine on withdrawal symptoms and its effects on subsequent drugexposure have not been thoroughly *** aim of the study was todetermine if clonidine administered during morphine withdrawal in rhesus mon-keys produces long-lasting effects on withdrawal symptoms and alters the effectsof subsequently taken drugs of ***:Adult male rhesus monkeyswere treated with increasing doses of morphine for 90 d to induce opiate (narcotic)*** immediate and long-lasting effects of 1 week’s administration ofclonidine were measured via the recording of morphine withdrawal signs and thesubsequent effects of challenge injections of morphine or ***:Monkeys chronically treated with morphine displayed withdrawal signs that lasted2 weeks after cessation of morphine administration and displayed sensitized re-sponses to subsequent morphine and cocaine *** significantlyreduced certain morphine withdrawal signs and overall withdrawal score,but theseeffects did not persist upon cessation of clonidine *** to theeffects of morphine and cocaine were significantly reduced in monkeys previ-ously treated with ***:Our results suggest that in addition toits short-term alleviating effect on morphine withdrawal signs,clonidine may re-duce subsequent effects of drugs of abuse after prolonged abstinence.

Convergence of random zeros on complex manifolds

We show that the zeros of random sequences of Gaussian systems of polynomials of increasing degree almost surely converge to the expected limit distribution under very general hypotheses. In particular, the normalized distribution of zeros of systems of m polynomials of degree N, orthonormalized on a regular compact set K ? ? m , almost surely converge to the equilibrium measure on K as N → ∞.

A wide range of literature concerning classical asymptotic properties for linear models with adaptive control is available, such as strong laws of large numbers or central limit theorems. Unfortunately, in contrast with the situation without control, it appears to be impossible to find sharp asymptotic or nonasymptotic properties such as large deviation principles or exponential inequalities. Our purpose is to provide a first step towards that direction by proving a very simple exponential inequality for the standard least squares estimator of the unknown parameter of Gaussian autoregressive process in adaptive tracking.

Density Results in Sobolev Spaces Whose Elements Vanish on a Part of the Boundary

This paper is devoted to the study of the subspace of Wm＇＂ of functions that vanish on a part γ0 of the boundary. The author gives a crucial estimate of the Poincare constant in balls centered on the boundary of γ0. Then, the convolution-translation method, a variant of the standard mollifier technique, can be used to prove the density of smooth functions that vanish in a neighborhood of γ0, in this subspace. The result is first proved for m = 1, then generalized to the case where m 〉 1, in any dimension, in the framework of Lipschitz-continuous domain. However, as may be expected, it is needed to make additional assumptions on the boundary of γ0, namely that it is locally the graph of some Lipschitz-continuous function.

Strong Consistency and CLT for the Random Decrement Estimator

The random decrement technique （RDT）, introduced in the sixties by Cole [NASA CR- 2005, 1973], is a very performing method of analysis for vibration signature of a structure under ambient loading. But the real nature of the random decrement signature has been misunderstood until now. Moreover, the various interpretations were made in continuous time setting, while real experimental data are obtained in discrete time. In this paper, the really implemental discrete time algorithms are studied. The asymptotic analysis as the number of triggering points go to infinity is achieved, and a Law of Large Numbers as well as a Central Limit Theorem is proved. Moreover, the limit as the discretization time step goes to zero is computed, giving more tractable formulas to approximate the random decrement. This is a new approach of the famous ＂Kac-Slepian paradox＂ [Ann. Math. Star., 30, 1215-1228 （1959）]. The main point might be that the RDT is a very efficient functional estimator of the correlation function of a stationary ergodic Gaussian process. Very fast, it is to classical estimators what Fast Fourier Transform （FFT） is to ordinary Discrete Fourier Transforms.
