Michael David Kaulana Ing, Why Confucius Wept： A Review of The Dysfunction of Ritual in Early Confucianism. New York, NJ： Oxford University Press, 2012, xii ＋ 304 pp., ISBN： *** the centrality of ritual and its relation to ethical conduct in Confucian thought, it is rather remarkable that, apart from Song dynasty-inspired fascination with the Zhongyong （中庸） and Daxue （大学） chapters, very little modern philosophical attention has been paid to the entire corpus of Liji （礼记）, Record of Rights. In addition to this lacuna, it is only very recently that scholars of Religious Studies who focus on ritual have turned their attention to early Confucian conceptions of rites with an eye to incorporating these conceptions into alternative theoretical frameworks. While Michael Ing＇s truly outstanding and powerfully argued Dysfunction of Ritual--grounded both in classical Chinese and modern English-language commentary---does extrapolate a ＂tragic theory of ritual＂ which broadens discussions in current Religious Studies debates, this review will focus on the degree to which this ＂tragic theory＂ can deepen our estimation of early Confucian thought.

Aims:Although the application of ultrasound-guided vascular puncture and Z-stitch hemostasis to manage femoral access has been widely utilized,there is limited data on this combined application in adult congenital heart disease(ACHD)patients undergoing electrophysiological(EP)*** sought to evaluate the safety and efﬁcacy of ultrasound-guided puncture and postprocedural Z-stitch hemostasis for ACHD patients under-going EP *** and Results:The population of ACHD patients undergoing transfemoral EP pro-cedures at the University of Zurich Heart Center between January 2019 and December 2022 was observed and *** the study period,femoral access(left/right,arterial/venous)was performed under real-time ultrasound *** the end of the procedure,a single Z-stitch was performed at the puncture *** eval-uated the incidence of in-hospital complications associated with femoral access puncture in this *** 101 patients who had a total of 147 previous ipsilateral vascular punctures(mean 1.5 per person),100 patients underwent successful femoral vascular access for EP *** median age of the patients was 47±15 years and 34(34%)were male.Z-stitches were performed after the procedure in 100 patients with 303 femoral vascular accesses(mean 3 punctures per person).No patient developed vascular puncture relevant inguinal hematoma,pseudo aneurysm,arteriovenousﬁstula,venous or arterial ***:In ACHD patients undergoing EP procedures,optimal femoral access management can be achieved with ultra-sound-guided puncture and postprocedural Z-stitch hemostasis.

Adverse events related to physical restraint use in intensive care units: A review of the literature

Physical restraints are widely used and accepted as protective measures during treatment in intensive care unit (ICU). This review of the literature summarizes the adverse events and outcomes associated with physical restraint use, and the risk factors associated with their use during treatment in the ICU. The PubMed, Scopus, and Google Scholar databases were screened using predefined search terms to identify studies pertaining to adverse events and/or outcomes associated with physical restraint use, and the factors associated with their use in adult patients admitted to the ICU. A total of 24 articles (including 6126 patients) that were published between 2006 and 2022 were identified. The described adverse events associated with physical restraint use included skin injuries, subsequent delirium, neurofunctional impairment, and a higher rate of post-traumatic stress disorder. Subsequent delirium was the most frequent adverse event to be reported. No alternative measures to physical restraints were discussed, and only one study reported a standardized protocol for their use. Although physical restraint use has been reported to be associated with adverse events (including neurofunctional impairment) in the literature, the available evidence is limited. Although causality cannot be confirmed, a definite association appears to exist. Our findings suggest that it is essential to improve awareness regarding their adverse impact and optimize approaches for their detection, management, and prevention using protocols or checklists.

Battery energy storage systems(BESSs)need to comply with grid code and fault ride through(FRT)requirements during disturbances whether they are in charging or discharging *** literature has shown that constant charging current control of BESSs in charging mode can prevent BESSs from complying with emerging grid codes such as the German grid code under stringent unbalanced fault *** address this challenge,this paper proposes a new FRTactivated dual control strategy that consists of switching from constant battery current control to constant DC-link voltage control through a positive droop *** results show that the strategy ensures proper DC-link voltage and current management as well as adequate control of the positive-and negative-sequence active and reactive currents according to the grid code *** is also shown that the proposed FRT control strategy is tolerant to initial operating conditions of BESS plant,grid code requirements,and fault severity.

The catalysis of the Hajos-Parrish reaction by cis-and trans-4,5-ethano-proline was explored experimentally and computationally with DFT(ωB97X-D and MN15)and DLPNO-CCSD(T).Both of the new catalysts are as active as proline or cis-and trans-4,5-methano-proline,with the trans-ethano-proline being as enantioselective as proline.A thorough theoretical analysis of the electronic factors influencing catalysis is reported.

Background Krill（Euphausia superba） and salps（Salpa thompsoni） are key macrozooplankton grazers in the Southern Ocean ecosystem. However, due to differing habitat requirements, both species previously exhibited little spatial overlap. With ongoing climate change-induced seawater temperature increase and regional sea ice loss, salps can now extend their spatial distribution into historically krill-dominated areas and increase rapidly due to asexual reproduction when environmental conditions are favorable. Understanding the potential effects on krill is crucial, since krill is a species of exceptional trophic significance in the Southern Ocean food web. Negative impacts on krill could trigger cascading effects on its predators and prey. To address this question, we combined two individual-based models on salps and krill, which describe the whole life cycle of salp individuals and the dynamic energy budget of individual krill. The resulting new model PEKRIS（PErformance of KRIll vs. Salps） simulates a krill population for 100 years under varying chlorophyll-a concentrations in the presence or absence of *** All of the investigated krill population properties（abundance, mean length, and yearly egg production） were significantly impacted by the presence of salps. On the other hand, salp density was not impacted if krill were present. The medians of krill population properties deviated during variable maximum chlorophyll-a density per year when salps were introduced by-99.9%（-234 individuals per 1000 m3） for krill density,-100%（-22,062 eggs per 1000 m3） for krill eggs and-0.9%（-0.3 mm） for mean length of *** If both species compete for the same food resource in a closed space, salps seem to inhibit krill populations. Further simulation studies should investigate whether this effect prevails if different phytoplankton sizes and consumption preferences of krill are implemented.
