High-performance solid-solution potassium-ion intercalation mechanism of multilayered turbostratic graphene nanosheets

The solid-solution reaction between an alkali cation and an active host material is known as a singlephase redox mechanism,and it is typically accompanied by a continuous voltage *** is distinct from the typical alkali cation intercalation reaction at an equivalent site of the active host material,which exhibits a voltage ***,we report an unusual solid-solution potassium-ion intercalation mechanism with a low-voltage plateau capacity on multilayered turbostratic graphene nanosheets(T-GNSs).Despite the disordered graphitic structure with a broad range of d-spacings(3.65–4.18À),the T-GNSs showed a reversible plateau capacity of~200 m A h g^(-1),which is higher than that of a well-ordered graphite nanoplate(~120 m A h g^(-1)).In addition,a sloping capacity of~220 m A h g^(-1)was delivered with the plateau capacity,and higher rate capabilities,better reversibility,and a more stable cycling performance were confirmed on the turbostratic ***-principles calculations suggest that the multitudinous lattice domains of the T-GNSs contain diverse intercalation sites with strong binding energies,which could be the origin of the high-performance solid-solution potassium-ion intercalation behavior when the turbostratic graphene stacks have a d-spacing smaller than that of equilibrium potassium–graphite intercalation compounds(5.35À).

Zinc metal anodes(ZMA)have high theoretical capacities(820 mAh g−1 and 5855 mAh cm−3)and redox potential(−0.76 V *** hydrogen electrode),similar to the electrochemical voltage window of the hydrogen evolution reaction(HER)in a mild acidic electrolyte system,facilitating aqueous zinc batteries competitive in next-generation energy storage ***,the HER and byproduct formation effectuated by water-splitting deteriorate the electrochemical performance of ZMA,limiting their *** this study,a key factor in promoting the HER in carbon-based electrode materials(CEMs),which can provide a larger active surface area and guide uniform zinc metal deposition,was investigated using a series of threedimensional structured templating carbon electrodes(3D-TCEs)with different local graphitic orderings,pore structures,and surface *** ultramicropores of CEMs are the determining critical factors in initiating HER and clogging active surfaces by Zn(OH)2 byproduct formation,through a systematic comparative study based on the 3D-TCE series *** the 3D-TCEs had a proper graphitic structure with few ultramicropores,they showed highly stable cycling performances over 2000 cycles with average Coulombic efficiencies of≥99%.These results suggest that a well-designed CEM can lead to high-performance ZMA in aqueous zinc batteries.

Computer vision(CV)-based techniques have been widely used in the field of structural health monitoring(SHM)owing to ease of installation and cost-effectiveness for displacement *** paper introduces computer vision based method for robust displacement measurement under occlusion by incorporating random sample consensus(RANSAC).The proposed method uses the Kanade-Lucas-Tomasi(KLT)tracker to extract feature points for tracking,and these feature points are filtered through RANSAC to remove points that are noisy or *** the filtered feature points,the proposed method incorporates Kalman filter to estimate acceleration from velocity and displacement extracted by the *** validation,numerical simulation and experimental validation are *** the simulation,performance of the proposed RANSAC filtering was validated to extract correct displacement out of group of displacements that includes dummy displacement with noise or *** the experiment,both RANSAC filtering and acceleration measurement were validated by partially occluding the target for tracking attached on the *** results demonstrated that the proposed method successfully measures displacement and estimates acceleration as compared to a reference displacement sensor and accelerometer,even under occluded conditions.

Optimal proximal resection margin distance for gastrectomy in advanced gastric cancer

Paclitaxel and curcumin co-bound albumin nanoparticles having antitumor potential to pancreatic cancer

Albumin nanoparticles are considered to be an effective way to load water-insoluble anticancer drugs and target tumors via the gp60-mediated pathway. Herein, we fabricated an albumin nanoparticle formulation for co-loading paclitaxel(PTX) and curcumin(CCM), both of which have prominent anticancer efficacy, via nanoparticle albumin-bound(NabTM) technology using high-pressure homogenization. The PTX/CCM co-bound albumin nanoparticles(PTX/CCM Alb-NPs) had a slightly greater particle size of ~250 nm than that of plain PTX AlbNPs and CCM Alb-NPs(~234 and ~134 nm, respectively), with spherical surface morphology and stable size maintenance. However, the zeta potential of PTX/CCM Alb-NPs(ca.-30 mV)was not significantly different from that of PTX or CCM Alb-NPs. The loaded PTX and CCM were released gradually from the PTX/CCM Alb-NPs over ~24 h(97.7 ± 1.7% and 76.2 ± 0.5%,respectively). Furthermore, PTX/CCM Alb-NPs appeared to be efficiently internalized into Mia Paca-2 cells and exhibited a 71% increased IC50 versus PTX Alb-NPs in terms of cytotoxicity to Mia Paca-2 cells. These results suggest that PTX/CCM Alb-NPs are a new potential anticancer agent for combination therapy.

Lithospheric thinning and ignition of a Cordilleran magmatic flare-up:Geochemical and O-Hf isotopic constraints from Cretaceous plutons in southern Korea

Northeast Asian continental margins contain the products of magma emplacement driven by prolonged subduction of the(paleo-)Pacific *** observed in many Cordilleran arcs,magmatic evolution in this area was punctuated by high-volume pulses amid background *** present study investigates the early evolution of the Cretaceous magmatic flare-up using new and published geochronological,geochemical,and O-Hf isotope data from plutonic rocks in the southern Korean *** a long(~50 m.y.)magmatic hiatus and the development of the Honam Shear Zone through flat-slab subduction,the Cretaceous flare-up began with the intrusion of monzonites,granodiorites,and granites in the inboard Gyeonggi Massif and the intervening Okcheon *** to Jurassic granitoids formed during the former flare-up,Albian(~111 Ma)monzonites found in the Eopyeong area of the Okcheon Belt have distinctly higher zirconε_(Hf)(t)(-7.5±1.3)andδ^(18)O(7.78‰±0.25‰)values and lower wholerock La/Yb and Sr/Y *** voluminous coeval granodiorite and granite plutons in the Gyeonggi Massif are further reduced in Sr/Y and to a lesser extent,in La/Yb,and have higher zirconε_(Hf)(t)values(-13 to-19)than the Precambrian basement(ca.-30).These chemical and isotopic features indicate that Early Cretaceous lithospheric thinning,most likely resulting from delamination of tectonically and magmatically overthickened lithospheric keel that was metasomatized during prior subduction episodes,and consequent asthenospheric upwelling played vital roles in igniting the magmatic *** O-Hf isotopic ranges of synmagmatic zircons from the Albian plutons and their Paleoproterozoic and Jurassic inheritance attest to the involvement of lithospheric mantle and crustal basement in magma generation during this decratonization *** magmatism then migrated trenchward and culminated in the Late Cretaceous,yielding widespread granitoid rocks emplaced at shallow crustal *** early Late Cretaceous(94-8

Totally laparoscopic total gastrectomy using the modified overlap method and conventional open total gastrectomy:A comparative study

Surgical outcomes of Korean ulcerative colitis patients with and without colitis-associated cancer

AIM: To determine the clinicopathologic characteristics of surgically treated ulcerative colitis(UC) patients, and to compare the characteristics of UC patients with colitis-associated cancer(CAC) to those without CAC. METHODS: Clinical data on UC patients who underwent abdominal surgery from 1980 to 2013 were collected from 11 medical institutions. Data were analyzed to compare the clinical features of patients with CAC and those of patients without ***: Among 415 UC patients, 383(92.2%) underwent total proctocolectomy, and of these, 342(89%) were subjected to ileal pouch-anal anastomosis. CAC was found in 47 patients(11.3%). Adenocarcinoma was found in 45 patients, and the others had either neuroendocrine carcinoma or lymphoma. Comparing the UC patients with and without CAC, the UC patients with CAC were characteristically older at the time of diagnosis, had longer disease duration, underwent frequent laparoscopic surgery, and were infrequently given preoperative steroid therapy(P < 0.001-0.035). During the 37 mo mean follow-up period, the 3-yearoverall survival rate was 82.2%.CONCLUSION: Most Korean UC patients experience early disease exacerbation or complications. Approximately 10% of UC patients had CAC, and UC patients with CAC had a later diagnosis, a longer disease duration, and less steroid treatment than UC patients without CAC.
