Fabrication of lithium silicates from zeolite for CO2 capture at high temperatures

Li4Si O4 has been regarded as one of the most promising high-temperature CO2 ***,for practical applications,its CO2sorption kinetics,cycling stability and sorption properties at lower temperatures or lower CO2 concentrations have to be *** this contribution,four Li4Si O4 sorbents were synthesized from zeolite precursors MCM-41,MCM-48,TS-1,and *** CO2 uptake,cycling stability and the optimal CO2 sorption conditions were *** the samples,MCM-41-Li4Si O4 showed the best cycling stability at 650°C,with a stable reversible CO2 uptake of 29.1 wt%under 100 vol%CO2 during 20 *** its sorption kinetics and CO2 uptakes at lower temperatures and lower CO2 concentrations need to be *** then demonstrated that the sorption kinetics can be improved by modifying the MCM-41 precursor with metals such as Al,Ti,Ca,and *** Na-MCM-41-Li4Si O4 sample exhibited the highest sorption rate,and reached the equilibrium sorption capacity close to the theoretical value of 36.7 wt%within 20 *** addition,we proved that coating the MCM-41-Li4Si O4with Na2CO3and K2CO3can significantly increase the CO2uptakes at lower temperatures(e.g.550℃)and lower CO2concentrations(10–20 vol%).At 550℃ and under 20 vol%CO2,15 wt%K2CO3-MCM-41-Li4Si O4 and 10 wt%Na2CO3-MCM-41-Li4Si O4 sorbents resulted in a CO2 uptake of 32.2 wt%and 34.7 wt%,respectively,which are much higher than that of MCM-41-Li4Si O4(11.8 wt%).These two sorbents also showed good cycling *** promoiting mechasnim by alkali carbonate coating was discussed by a doubleshell model.

A Numerical Model of a U-Tube Vertical Ground Heat Exchanger Used as an Evaporator

The paper presents a general distributed model of a vertical U-tube direct expansion heat exchanger coupled with the ground. This model is developed for studying the dynamic thermal behavior of a buried heat exchanger which is an integral part of a so-called direct expansion heat pump. The transient conservative equations of mass, momentum and energy considering single and two-phase flow of refrigerant are derived and presented. The diffusive heat exchange with the ground is treated using an analytical approach to treat short-time scale response of vertical boreholes based on an imposed temperature. The thermal interference between the two pipes of the heat exchanger is also considered. The mathematical equations of the model are numerically presented using a control volume formulation and the solution of the system of equations is obtained by successive iterations. The dynamic behavior of the evaporator is simulated and the numerical results are analyzed regarding spatial parameters distribution and thermal interference influence.

Molten salts-modified MgO-based adsorbents for intermediate-temperature CO_2 capture: A review

Carbon dioxide（CO2） capture using magnesium oxide（MgO）-based adsorbents at intermediate temperatures has been regarded as a very prospective technology for their relatively high adsorption capacity,low cost, and wide availability. During the past few years, great effort has been devoted to the fabrication of molten salts-modified MgO-based adsorbents. The extraordinary progress achieved by coating with molten salts greatly promotes the COcapture capacity of MgO-based adsorbents. Therefore, we feel it necessary to deliver a timely review on this type of COcapturing materials, which will benefit the researchers working in both academic and industrial areas. In this work, we classified the molten saltsmodified MgO adsorbents into four categories:（1） homogenous molten salt-modified MgO adsorbents,（2） molten salt-modified double salts-based MgO adsorbents,（3） mixed molten salts-modified MgO adsorbents, and（4） molten salts-modified MgO-based mixed oxides adsorbents. This contribution critically reviews the recent developments in the synthetic method, adsorption capacity, reaction kinetics, promotion mechanism, operational conditions and regenerability of the molten salts-modified MgO COadsorbents. The challenges and prospects in this promising field of molten salts-modified MgO COadsorbents in real applications are also briefly mentioned.

Impact of organic interlayer anions on the CO2 adsorption performance of Mg-Al layered double hydroxides derived mixed oxides

Herein we report a systematical investigation on the promoting effect of the carbon chain length of the intercalated carboxylic anions on the COcapture performance of Mg-Al layer double hydroxides（LDHs）.A series of organo-LDHs were successfully synthesized via co-precipitation and calcination-rehydration methods. All as-prepared samples were characterized by many techniques including XRD, ATR-FTIR, BET,and TGA. The XRD and ATR-FTIR studies indicated that organic anions were successfully intercalated into LDHs. The influence of some important parameters such as calcination temperature, adsorption temperature, and coating with（Li-Na-K）NOmolten salt was investigated. The results exhibited that when the number of carbon is greater than 10, the COcapture capacity steadily increased with the increase in carbon number. After coating with 55 mol%（Li-Na-K）NOmolten salt, the COuptake of LDH-C16 sample with high Mg/Al ratios can be increased up to 3.25 mmol/g. The COadsorption/desorption cycling stability was also studied using temperature swing adsorption, which showed a stable COcapture performance even after 22 cycles. Considering its high COcapture capacity and good cycling stability, this novel COadsorbent is very promising in the sorption-enhanced water gas shift（SEWGS） processes.

The propagation of unstable interfaces is at the origin of remarkable patterns that are observed in various areas of science as chemical reactions, phase transitions, and growth of bacterial colonies. Since a scalar equation generates usually stable waves, the simplest mathematical description relies on two-by-two reaction-diffusion systems. The authors' interest is the extension of the Fisher/KPP equation to a two-species reaction which represents reactant concentration and temperature when used for flame propagation,and bacterial population and nutrient concentration when used in *** authors study circumstances in which instabilities can occur and in particular the effect of dimension. It is observed numerically that spherical waves can be unstable depending on the coefficients. A simpler mathematical framework is to study transversal instability, which means a one-dimensional wave propagating in two space ***, explicit analytical formulas give explicitely the range of paramaters for instability.

Analysis of a System Describing Proliferative-Quiescent Cell Dynamics

Systems describing the dynamics of proliferative and quiescent cells are commonly used as computational models, for instance for tumor growth and *** on the very earliest stages of hematopoiesis, stem cells and early progenitors, the authors introduce a new method, based on an energy/Lyapunov functional to analyze the long time behavior of solutions. Compared to existing works, the method in this paper has the advantage that it can be extended to more complex situations. The authors treat a system with space variable and diffusion, and then adapt the energy functional to models with three equations.

This paper deals with a non-local parabolic equation of Lotka-Volterra type that describes the evolution of phenotypically structured populations. Nonlinearities appear in these systems to model interactions and competition phenomena leading to selection. In this paper, the equation on the structured population is coupled with a differential equation on the nutrient concentration that changes as the total population *** methods aimed at showing the convergence of the solutions to a moving Dirac mass are reviewed. Using either weak or strong regularity assumptions, the authors study the concentration of the solution. To this end, BV estimates in time on appropriate quantities are stated, and a constrained Hamilton-Jacobi equation to identify where the solutions concentrates as Dirac masses is derived.

In the recent biomechanical theory of cancer growth,solid tumors are considered as liquid-like materials comprising elastic *** this fluid mechanical view,the expansion ability of a solid tumor into a host tissue is mainly driven by either the cell diffusion constant or the cell division rate,with the latter depending on the local cell density(contact inhibition) or/and on the mechanical stress in the *** the two by two degenerate parabolic/elliptic reaction-diffusion system that results from this modeling,the authors prove that there are always traveling waves above a minimal speed,and analyse their *** appear to be complex with composite shapes and *** small parameters allow for analytical solutions,and in particular,the incompressible cells limit is very singular and related to the Hele-Shaw *** singular traveling waves are recovered numerically.

The stem barks of Prunus africana are used in the treatment of the benign prostate. Cameroon is one of the important exporters of the barks. Despite the important measures adopted in Cameroon for sustaining its harvesting, some many chalenges still remain. The objective of this work is to refine the forest management parameters in relation to P. africana in the regions of Adamaoua and the South-West by developing a volume rate which makes it possible to estimate the production for a new stem. The work took place in two phases: in the South-West in 2010 and in Adamaoua in 2011. Data collection used the semi-direct method, while the cubing equation was deduced by the multiple linear regression method. Two models for volume estimation and three models for mass prediction were developed. The predictive parameters retained are diameter, height of the bole and thickness of the bark. Results show that the average mass of the dry bark for a given P. africana tree species is 27.55 ± 14.44 kg and this varies according to the site. The strong adjusted coefficient of determination (adjusted R2) observed illustrates the reliability of the proposed models. These models provide a reliable tool that can be adopted as a standard in Cameroon for P. africana.

Racecadotril in the Treatment of Acute Diarrhoea in Adults. An Individual Patient Data Based Meta-Analysis

Racecadotril is an antidiarrhoeal drug with a pure intestinal antisecretory mechanism of action. Aim: To assess racecadotril efficacy, whatever its dose, versus placebo in adult acute diarrhoea. Methods: Individual Patient Data meta-analysis following multilevel mixed models testing of the significance of the treatment effect adjusted for baseline covariates. Diarrhoea duration was the common main criteria. Results: Four randomized clinical trials (n = 669) were identified with raw data. The clinical global impression evaluated at baseline by the physician was found to be the essential predictor influencing the outcome. As compared to placebo, the 100 mg dose, the minimum effective dose, induced a 80% increase of the recovered patient proportion at anytime (Hazard Ratio = 1.8 [1.3, 2.5], p < 0.001), a 60% increase of the responder proportion i.e. recovery within 3 days (p < 0.001), a 47% reduction of abdominal pain and nausea and an overall 33% decrease of sick days (p < 0.001). In conclusion, as compared to placebo, racecadotril induced several significant effects, such as reducing the diarrhoea duration, the number of stools and associated symptoms, leading to less lost productivity.
