In a recently published article in Asian Journal of Andrology, Ho et al.1 examine prevalence, attitudes, and treatment patterns related to sexual dysfunction in Asia and contrast them with those of Western society. They highlight the relative paucity of data with respect to erectile dysfunction （ED）, premature ejaculation, and hypogonadism in the Asian population.

The Pan-Eurasian Experiment Modelling Platform(PEEX-MP)is one of the key blocks of the PEEX Research *** PEEX MP has more than 30 models and is directed towards seamless envir-onmental *** main focus area is the Arctic-boreal regions and *** models used in PEEX-MP cover several main components of the Earth’s system,such as the atmosphere,hydrosphere,pedosphere and biosphere,and resolve the physicalchemicalbiological processes at different spatial and temporal scales and *** paper introduces and discusses PEEX MP multi-scale modelling concept for the Earth system,online integrated,forward/inverse,and socioeconomical modelling,and other approaches with a particular focus on applications in the PEEX geographical *** employed high-performance com-puting facilities,capabilities,and PEEX dataflow for modelling results are *** virtual research platforms(PEEXView,Virtual Research Environment,Web-based Atlas)for handling PEEX modelling and observational results are *** over-all approach allows us to understand better physical-chemicalbiological processes,Earth’s system interactions and feedbacks and to provide valuable information for assessment studies on evaluating risks,impact,consequences,*** population,envir-onment and climate in the PEEX *** work was also one of the last projects of *** Zilitinkevich,who passed away on 15 February *** the finalization took time,the paper was actually submitted in 2023 and we could not argue that the final paper text was agreed with him.

A novel three-tier composite membrane based on highly porous nanofibrous substrate was demonstrated for efficient iso-propanol dehydration by ***,polyethyleneimine(PEI)modified graphene oxide(GO)sheets were vacuum-assistant assembled onto porous electrospun polyacrylonitrile(PAN)nanofibrous substrate to achieve a smooth,hydrophilic and compact PEI-GO intermediate *** introduction of PEI chains endowed GO interlayer with sufficient interaction for bonding adjacent GO nanosheets to enhance stability in water/isopropanol mixture and also with the ascended inter-lamellar space to improve the water-sorption ability due to the abundant active amino *** from PEI-GO layer,a defect-free sodium alginate(sA)skin layer could be facilely manufactured with elaborately controlled thickness as thin as possible in order to reduce mass transfer resistant and enhance permeability ***,the interlayer would also contribute to enhance interfacial adhesion to promote the structure integrity of three-tier thin-film nanofibrous composite(TFNC)membrane in pervaporation dehydration *** fine-tuning of membrane preparation process,the sA/PEI(75)-GO-60/PAN TFNC membrane exhibited competitive pervaporation performance with the permeate flux of 2009 g/m2 h and the separation factor of 1276 operated at 70°C for dehydration of 90 wt%isopropanol *** unique three-tier composite membrane structure suggested an effective and facile approach to design novel membrane structure for further improvement of pervaporation performance.

Computational prediction of in-hospital mortality in the setting of an intensive care unit can help clinical practitioners to guide care and make early decisions for interventions. As clinical data are complex and varied in their structure and components, continued innovation of modelling strategies is required to identify architectures that can best model outcomes. In this work, we trained a Heterogeneous Graph Model(HGM) on electronic health record(EHR) data and used the resulting embedding vector as additional information added to a Convolutional Neural Network(CNN) model for predicting in-hospital mortality. We show that the additional information provided by including time as a vector in the embedding captured the relationships between medical concepts, lab tests, and diagnoses, which enhanced predictive performance. We found that adding HGM to a CNN model increased the mortality prediction accuracy up to 4%. This framework served as a foundation for future experiments involving different EHR data types on important healthcare prediction tasks.

Crystal and phase morphologies and structures determined by self-organization of crystalline-amorphous diblockcopolymers, crystallization of the crystallizable blocks, and vitrification of the amorphous blocks are reviewed through asystematic study on a series of poly(ethylene oxide)-b-polystyrene (PEO-b-Ps) diblock copolymers. On the base ofcompetitions among these three processes, molecular and supramolecular ordering in confined environments can beinvestigated. In a concentration-fluctuation-induced disordered (D_(CF)) diblock copolymer, the competition between crystalli-zation of the PEO blocks and vitrification of the Ps blocks is momtored by time-resolved simultaneous small angle X-rayscattering (sAXs) and wide angle X-ray diffraction (WAXD) techniques. In the case of T_cs-rich), the crystallization of thePEO blocks is observed to be confined within the bicontinuous D_(CF) phase due to the rapid vitrification of the Ps-rich *** crystallization rate, crystal melting behavior, and crystallinity results further confirm the competition betweencrystallization and vitrification at different temperatures. In an ordered lamellar PEO-b-Ps diblock copolymer, the crystalli-zation of the PEO blocks is completely confined within the ordered lamellae due to rapid vitrification of the Ps layers asobserved by time-resolved sAXs and WAXD experiments. From the combined two-dimensional sAXs and WAXDmeasurements, the crystal orientation within the confined lamellar geometry is found parallel to the lamellar surface normalwhen it is isothermally crystallized at 35℃. In an ordered cylindrical PEO-b-Ps sample, the crystallization of the PEO blocksis also observed to be confined within the ordered cylinders because of rapid vitrification of the Ps matrix. The crystalorientation within the confined cylinders is found perpendicular to the cylinder axis as it is crystallized at 35℃.

Dracunculiasis(Guinea worm disease) is a preventable waterborne parasitic disease that affects the poorest people living in remote rural areas in sub-saharan African countries,who do not have access to safe drinking *** Guinea Worm Eradication Program,a 25-year old campaign to rid the world of Guinea Worm disease has now reached its final stage accelerating to zero cases in all endemic *** the 19th and 20th centuries,dracunculiasis was common in much of southern Asia and the African *** overall number of cases has been reduced tremendously by≥99%,from the 3.32 million cases estimated to have occurred in 1986 in Africa to only I 797 cases reported in 2010 reported in only five countries(sudan,Mali,Ethiopia,Chad and Ghana) and Asia free of the *** achievement is unique in its kind - the only previously eradicated disease is smallpox,a viral infection for which vaccination was possible - and it has been achieved through primary community-based prevention and health education *** efforts need to be taken in two countries,south sudan(comprising 94%or I 698 out of 1 797 of the cases reported world-wide in 2010) and Mali because of frequent movements of nomads in a vast area inside and outside Mali’s *** factors favourable to dracunculiasis eradication are available including adequate financial resources,community and political support and high levels of *** there is no reason that this disabling parasitic disease cannot be eradicated soon before surprises arise such as new civil conflicts in currently endemic countries.

A classical result of Halmos asserts that among measure preserving transformations the weak mixing property is generic. We extend Halmos' result to the collection of ergolic extensions of a fixed, but arbitrary,aperiodic transformation T_0. We then use a result of Ornstein and Weiss to extend this relative theorem to the general(countable) amenable group.

We introduce a novel method to accurately extract the optical parameters in terahertz reflection imaging. Our method builds on standard self-referencing methods using the reflected signal from the bottom of the imaging window material to further compensate for time-dependent system fluctuations and position-dependent variation in the window thickness. Our proposed method not only improves the accuracy, but also simplifies the imaging procedure and reduces measurement times.
