Gro.ndwater is vital to.the sustenance and well-being o. man-kind, altho.gh it is co.stantly under immense pressure. Fo. this reaso., there is need to.develo. an effective, reliable, scientific and sustainable means o. delineating zo.es o. gro.ndwater o.currence and distributio. with high precisio. in o.her to.effectively explo.e fo. this reso.rce. In this study, remo.e sensing (RS) and geo.raphical info.matio. system (GIS) have been co.bined to.develo. thematic maps o. the zo.es o. gro.ndwater o.currence and distributio. based o. variable facto.s such as;elevatio., drainage, lineament, slo.e, litho.o.y and so.l. The analytical hierarchy pro.edure (AHP) was emplo.ed to.classify and subsequently assign weight to.each variable facto. thro.gh weighted o.erlay analysis. Integratio. o. these facto.s with their relative classes defined was used to.pro.uce a 2D-mo.el fo. predicting surface aquifers mapped within o.ubra. The study delineated three (3) surface aquifer zo.es representing gro.ndwater po.ential zo.es. Zo.es representing high gro.ndwater po.ential co.er an area o. appro.imately 331.94 Km2, acco.nting fo. 29.58% o. the study area. The regio. that represents mo.erate to.go.d gro.ndwater o.currence and distributio. co.ers an estimated area o. appro.imately 648.42 Km2, o.cupying 57.78% o. the study area. Zo.es with gro.ndwater o. lo. po.ential acco.nt fo. a to.al surface area o. appro.imately 141.81 Km2 which is abo.t 12.64% o. the entire study area. Regio.s that sho. go.d to.mo.erate and high gro.ndwater po.entials, have a wider distributio. all acro.s the study area except at the so.thernmo.t part. The study therefo.e sho.s that it is effective in delineating surface po.ential zo.es and hitherto.a 2D surface aquifer mo.el fo. gro.ndwater explo.atio. campaigns within o.ubra and its enviro.s.

Stream sediment geo.hemistry remains a versatile to.l in explo.atio. especially in regio.s where kno.ledge o. the primary mineralizatio. is lacking and the explo.atio. activities are still at reco.naissance stage. In this study, we investigate the co.centratio.s o. go.d and asso.iated elements in stream sediment samples fro. the Vaimba-Lidi drainage system in no.thern Camero.n;a relatively remo.e area where alluvial go.d is wo.ked lo.ally, and explo.atio. activities are at early stage. The main river and its principal first and seco.d o.der tributaries were sampled, panned fo. go.d grain reco.ery and the 100 μm size fractio. analyzed fo. Au by fire assay with Ni finish. A suite o. o.her elements were analyzed fo. by inductively co.pled plasma mass spectro.etry (ICP-MS). Go.d grades estimated by the panning and weighing technique rarely exceed1 g/t while the Au co.centratio.s fro. chemical analysis range fro. 3.0 to.354.0 ppm. The spatial distributio. o. go.d and all the o.her elements are presented as po.nt symbo. maps and the data analyzed using multivariate statistics. Fro. the principal co.po.ent analysis (PCA), the As-Mo.W-Ag as well as the Au-Zn facto.s po.nt to.the presence o. primary hydro.hermal go.d-sulphide mineralizatio. in the area and this can be further investigated. These results highlight the impo.tance o. multielement analysis and multivariate statistical interpretatio. o. sediment geo.hemical data in inferring the nature o. the underlying primary mineralizatio. in any regio..

Develo.ing effective and lo.g-term treatment strategies fo. rare and co.plex neuro.egenerative diseases is challenging. o.e o. the majo. ro.dblo.ks is the extensive hetero.eneity amo.g patients. This hinders understanding the underlying disease-causing mechanisms and building so.utio.s that have implicatio.s fo. a bro.d spectrum o. patients. o.e po.ential so.utio. is to.develo. perso.alized medicine appro.ches based o. strategies that target the mo.t prevalent cellular events that are perturbed in patients. Especially in patients with a kno.n genetic mutatio., it may be po.sible to.understand ho. these mutatio.s co.tribute to.pro.lems that lead to.neuro.egeneratio.. Pro.ein–pro.ein interactio. analyses o.fer great advantages fo. revealing ho. pro.eins interact, which cellular events are primarily invo.ved in these interactio.s, and ho. they beco.e affected when key genes are mutated in patients. This line o. investigatio. also.suggests no.el druggable targets fo. patients with different mutatio.s. Here, we fo.us o. alsin and spastin, two.pro.eins that are identified as “causative” fo. amyo.ro.hic lateral sclero.is and hereditary spastic paraplegia, respectively, when mutated. o.r review analyzes the pro.ein interacto.e fo. alsin and spastin, the cano.ical pathways that are primarily impo.tant fo. each pro.ein do.ain, as well as co.po.nds that are either Fo.d and Drug Administratio.–appro.ed o. are in active clinical trials co.cerning the affected cellular pathways. K,Na,and Fe in Nkpo.o.and Ekenkpo. Shales are 1.45,0.4,and 4.17 wt%,and 1.11,0.44,and 5.42 wt%;*** Nkpo.o.Shale is enriched with the fo.lo.ing trace elements;P>Mn>Sr>Ba>Zn>Ce>Rb>Zr>V>Cr>Ni and depleted in the fo.lo.ing trace elements;Ta>Ge>Sb>Bi>Cd>Ag>Te>In>*** the Ekenkpo. The effects o. a harmo.ically exciting mo.o.o.e so.rce o. an infinitely lo.g cylindrical cavity embedded entirely within a fluid-saturated po.o.lastic fo.matio. o. infinite extent are examined theo.etically. It is assumed that the so.rce is lo.ated o.tside the cavity at a specified distance fro. the bo.eho.e axis. The magnitudes o. the ho.p and radial stresses beside the po.e pressures exerted o. the interface and inside the po.o.s medium surro.nding the bo.eho.e are calculated and discussed. Bio.'s po.o.lastic mo.eling alo.g with three types o. bo.ndary co.ditio.s fo. the cylindrical interface including the ideal fluid, empty bo.eho.e, and rigid inclusio. with a hard bo.ndary is emplo.ed fo. the analysis. Utilizing a pro.er translatio.al additio. theo.em fo. expressing the incident spherical wave in terms o. cylindrical wave expansio.s, the pro.o.ed bo.ndary co.ditio.s at the interface are satisfied. Stresses are fo.mulated by means o. wave po.ential functio.s in a three-dimensio.al(3D) manner. The effects o. the frequency and the radial distance between the so.rce and bo.eho.e o. the induced stresses are examined fo. the first cylindrical mo.es o.er frequency spectra. Two.permeability co.ditio.s fo. the interface and three types o. so.ls fo. the po.o.s fo.matio. are co.sidered thro.gho.t the analysis. To.give an o.erall o.tline o. the study, a numerical example is presented. The results clearly indicate that the distance is a key parameter and has co.siderable effects o. the induced stress values. In additio., the interface permeability co.ditio. and so.l characteristics play an impo.tant ro.e in determining the dynamic respo.se o. the bo.eho.e. Finally,the o.tained results are co.pared with the relevant analyses existing in the literature fo. so.e limit cases, and go.d agreement is achieved.
