Background:New insecticides with a novel mode of action such as neonicotinoids have recently been recommended for public health by *** monitoring of such novel insecticides requires a robust protocol to monitor the development of resistance in natural *** this study,we comparatively used three different solvents to assess the susceptibility of malaria vectors to neonicotinoids across ***:Mosquitoes were collected from May to July 2021 from three agricultural settings in Cameroon(Njombe-Penja,Nkolondom,and Mangoum),the Democratic Republic of Congo(Ndjili-Brasserie),Ghana(Obuasi),and Uganda(Mayuge).Using the CDC bottle test,we compared the effect of three different solvents(ethanol,acetone,MERO)on the efficacy of neonicotinoids againstAnopheles gambiae *** addition,TaqMan assays were used to genotype key pyrethroid-resistant markers *** and odds ratio based on Fisher exact test were used to evaluate potential cross-resistance between pyrethroids and ***:lower mortality was observed when using absolute ethanol or acetone alone as solvent for clothianidin(11.4-51.9% mortality in Nkolondom,31.7-48.2% in Mangoum,34.6-56.1% in Mayuge,39.4-45.6% in Obuasi,83.7-89.3% in Congo and 71.1-95.9% in Njombe pendja)compared to acetone+MERO for which 100% mortality were observed for all the *** observations were done for imidacloprid and *** assays(PBO,DEM and DEF)with clothianidin revealed a significant increase of mortality suggesting that metabolic resistance mechanisms are contributing to the reduced susceptibility.A negative association was observed between the l1014F-kdr mutation and clothianidin resistance with a greater frequency of homozygote resistant mosquitoes among the dead than among survivors(OR=0.5;P=0.02).However,the I114T-GSTe2 was in contrast significantly associated with a greater ability to survive clothianidin with a higher frequency of homozygote resistant among surv

Waste water treatment in order to preserve water resources is one of the major concerns in developing countries. This study aims to test the operating effectiveness of a pilot designed on a basis of several laboratory experiments, which consists of an anaerobic and aerobic pond in series. The test was performed through monitoring global parameters of pollution. The results of the analysis of these parameters indicate an elimination of 91% of suspended solids, 68% of COD, 77% of BOD5, 61% of nitrate and 81% of phosphorus. It was also noticed that the anaerobic pond removes most, carbonaceous organic materials and especially suspended matters;and the aerobic pond most, nitrogen and especially phosphorus. This study reveals the effectiveness of the series connection of an anaerobic and aerobic pond for domestic wastewater treatment.

As climatic changes and human uses intensify,resource managers and other decision makers are taking actions to either avoid or respond to ecosystem tipping points,or dramatic shifts in structure and function that are often costly and hard to *** indicates that explicitly addressing tipping points leads to improved management *** on theory and examples from marine systems,we distill a set of seven principles to guide effective management in ecosystems with tipping points,derived from the best available *** principles are based on observations that tipping points(1)are possible everywhere,(2)are associated with intense and/or multifaceted human use,(3)may be preceded by changes in earlywarning indicators,(4)may redistribute benefits among stakeholders,(5)affect the relative costs of action and inaction,(6)suggest biologically informed management targets,and(7)often require an adaptive response to *** suggest that early action to preserve system resilience is likely more practical,affordable,and effective than late action to halt or reverse a tipping *** articulate a conceptual approach to management focused on linking management targets to thresholds,tracking early-warning signals of ecosystem instability,and stepping up investment in monitoring and mitigation as the likelihood of dramatic ecosystem change *** approach can simplify and economize management by allowing decision makers to capitalize on the increasing value of precise information about threshold relationships when a system is closer to tipping or by ensuring that restoration effort is sufficient to tip a system into the desired regime.

＜正＞Background/Aims:Nitric Oxide （NO） and its interrelated redox species （collectively denoted as NOx） play a multi - faceted role in cancer progression. NOx production induces mutational events,and it has also been found to simultaneously inhibit apoptosis. In an effort to define the underlying mechanisms of apoptosis inhibition arising from nitric oxide exposure, we here develop a novel mouse model of lung adenocarcinoma. Methods: Four NOx donor compounds （DETA - NONOate, Spermine - NONOate, SNAP, and glyco - SNAP） were exposed to a novel murine lung adenocarcinoma cell line at increasing *** extent of NOx production was measured by the Griess reaction,spectrophotometrically,and via nitrotyrosine *** alkaline single- cell gel electrophoresis assay （the COMET assay） was used to measure DNA strand breaks （DSB’ s） and was correlated with cell viability. A fluorescence caspase activity assay was used to determine apoptosis and was correlated with apoptosis - related gene products using cDNA microarrays. Results:Kinetics,concentration,and mode of delivery all had an effect on NOx mediated DSB’s. At the highest concentration of NONOate donors, the DSB’ s correlated with cell death in a caspase - 9 dependent fashion. Caspase -9 activity appeared to be inhibited by thiol - based NOx donors, and since DTT reversed NO’s effect of apoptosis, inhibition is believed to have occurred via a S - nitrosylation pathway. This change in caspase activity was found to correlate with a number of transcriptional changes, suggesting that several key apoptosis steps are likely under transcriptional control via S - nitrosylation. Conclusions: The results of our murine model of lung cancer progression were found to parallel those previously reported in a human lung adenocarcinoma cell line. The model suggests that various apoptosis related gene products are likely regulated through S - nitrosylation in a caspase - 9 dependent manner. With this model in hand, we c

Background and Objective: Nowadays, the clinical utility of carbapenems is threatened by the emergence of resistant bacteria, favored by its increasing use. According to the WHO, Acinetobacter baumannii: nosocomial infection agent, tops the list of priority antibiotic-resistant pathogens, considered to be the riskiest for humans. This study sought to determine the prevalence of carbapenemase-producing Acinetobacter baumannii strains in four health facilities in the Center and littoral regions of Cameroon and the associated risk factors. Materials and Method: An analytical cross-sectional study was conducted over a six-month period from January to June 2022. All suspicious A. baumanii isolates obtained from pathological samples at the bacteriology laboratory of the different health facilities were systematically collected and re-identified. Re-identification and antimicrobial susceptibility Testing (AST) were performed using the VITEK 2 System and the Kirby-Bauer method according to the guidelines of the Clinical and laboratory Standards Institute (ClSI). Detection and phenotypic characterization of carbapenemases was performed according to adequate standard procedures. Results: A total of 168/226 clinical isolates of Acinetobacter baumannii were confirmed after re-identification, among which 52.69% derived from male patients, 55.09% from participants aged between 10 - 39 years old, and 46.71% from pus samples. A very high resistance rates to all families of antibiotics was noted, except to colistin (10.2%). 40.12% of these isolates produced carbapenemase, represented by 62.69% of class B and 37.31% of class A. Carbapenemase production was observed only at HMR1, Centre region and at laquintinie hospital, littoral region with 53.33% and 50% respectively, even if there is no significant difference (P = 0.81). Euphorbia hirta l. is an annual medicinal herb throughout many tropical continents used to cure various diseases. Several studies have isolated many bioactive compounds from E. hirta. This study aimed at providing a collection of bioactive constituents in E. hirta. This review summarizes the extraction solvent, the structures and the properties of 38 bioactive phytochemicals isolated from E. hirta. It could help to understand the relationship existing between phytochemicals and their activities.

Rothe’s Fixed Point Theorem and the Controllability of the benjamin-Bona-Mahony Equation with Impulses and Delay

For many control systems in real life, impulses and delays are intrinsic phenomena that do not modify their controllability. So we conjecture that under certain conditions the abrupt changes and delays as perturbations of a system do not destroy its controllability. There are many practical examples of impulsive control systems with delays, such as a chemical reactor system, a financial system with two state variables, the amount of money in a market and the savings rate of a central bank, and the growth of a population diffusing throughout its habitat modeled by a reaction-diffusion equation. In this paper we apply the Rothe’s Fixed Point Theorem to prove the interior approximate controllability of the following benjamin Bona-Mohany(BBM) type equation with impulses and delay where and are constants, Ω is a domain in , ω is an open non-empty subset of Ω , denotes the characteristic function of the set ω , the distributed control , are continuous functions and the nonlinear functions are smooth enough functions satisfying some additional conditions.

Exposure assessment is a key component of any risk-benefit assessment, yet it is clear that there is a lack of reliable methodology in this area for assessing consumer exposures to both food constituents and nonfood products. The International life Sciences Institute (IlSI) Europe Food Intake Methodology Task Force has in the past explored methods to assess the intake of nutrients/additives and exposure to contaminants/residues from food. In December 2008, a workshop was held to discuss the differences between different types of exposure assessments as well as the difficulties involved in the practical application of the methods available. It was noted that although no two assessments are the same in terms of data required and its availability, or the assumptions made, there is also wide and perhaps unnecessary variation between the approaches taken by different assessors. As a result, the IlSI Europe Food Intake Methodology Task Force initiated an activity aimed at producing a practical guide for conducting intake/exposure assessments in the form of an interactive web-based application. During the course of this work it became clear that the best form in which to present the guide would be a web-based MediaWiki-type system. A website was developed and launched in October 2012, at which time global experts and practitioners in dietary exposure assessment were invited to register to use the site and help keep the knowledge contained within it, relevant and up-to-date. It is hoped that the guide will be an important reference source for a wide group of stakeholders, providing concise guidance on the planning, conduct, reporting and interpretation of exposure assessments and contributing to greater harmonisation of the dietary intake/exposure methodologies used.
