Recent progress of electromagnetic wave absorbers: A systematic review and bibliometric approach

The electromagnetic wave absorption capabilities of an absorber depend on its dielectric and magnetic compo- nents, which determine its interfacial polarization, conductivity loss, magnetic loss, and other such mechanisms. In this study, a comprehensive review of the electromagnetic wave and material interaction was conducted. Moreover, for a better understanding of the trends and evolutionary developments in the study of the electro- magnetic wave absorber, 23300 documents dated between 1990 and 2020 were examined, which were obtained from Scopus using the keywords of “electromagnetic wave absorption ”and “microwave absorption ”. The data search in Scopus was conducted using the related keywords in the search bar for titles and abstracts. These results demonstrate that the majority of research regarding electromagnetic wave absorbers was conducted in China, which was followed by the United States. The number of published documents regarding the electromagnetic wave absorption field significantly increased between 1990 and 2020;these documents were mostly published as journal articles. With respect to the journal activity, the most productive journal was the “Journal of Alloys and Compounds ”, with a total of 592 articles. In addition, graphene and titanium dioxide were determined to be the materials that were most studied in the field of electromagnetic wave absorption.

An Experimental Investigation on Workability and Bleeding Behaviors of Cement Pastes Doped with Nano Titanium Oxide (n-TiO 2) Nanoparticles and FlyAsh

In this study,the workability of cement-based grouts containing n-TiO 2 nanoparticles and fly ash has been investigated experimentally.Several characteristic quantities(including,but not limited to,the marsh cone flow time,the mini slump spreading diameter and the plate cohesion meter value)have been measured for different percentages of these additives.The use of fly ash as a mineral additive has been found to result in improvements in terms of workability behavior as expected.Moreover,if nano titanium oxide is also used,an improvement can be obtained regarding the bleeding values for the cement-based grout mixes.Using such experimental data,a multi-layer perceptron artificial neural network model has been developed(5 neurons in the hidden layer of the network model have been developed using a total of 42 experimental data).70%of the data employed in this model have been used for training,15%for validation and 15%for the test phase.The results demonstrate that the artificial neural network model can predict Marsh cone flow time,mini slump spreading diameter and plate cohesion meter values with an average error of 0.15%.

Loop-mediated isothermal amplification of single pollen grains

The polymerase chain reaction （PCR） has been a reliable and fruitful method for many applications in ecology. Nevertheless, unavoidable technical and instrumental require- ments of PCR have limited its widespread application in field situations. The recent development of isothermal DNA amplifica- tion methods provides an alternative to PCR, which circumvents key limitations of PCR for direct amplification in the field. Being able to analyze DNA in the pollen cloud of an ecosystem would provide very useful ecological information, yet would require a field-enabled, high-throughput method for this potential to be realized. Here, we demonstrate the applicability of the loop- mediated DNA amplification method （LAMP）, an isothermal DNA amplification technique, to be used in pollen analysis. Wedemonstrate that LAMP can provide a reliable method to identify species from the pollen cloud, and that it can amplify successfully with sensitivity down to single pollen grains, thus opening the possibility of field-based, high-throughput analysis.

Autoimmune complications and clinical outcomes of herpes simplex encephalitis in children: A case series

Objective:To report the neurologic prognosis and autoimmune complications of 16 cases of childhood herpes simplex virus encephalitis.Methods:The study was conducted atŞanlıurfa Training and Research Hospital,Turkey from June 2017 to August 2019.The study included 16 pediatric patients aged between 6 months and 17 years(median age 77.7 months)who were diagnosed with herpes simplex virus type 1 encephalitis by pediatric infectious disease and pediatric neurology clinics.Patients were followed using patient records,and interviews at the pediatric neurology clinic or via the telephone.Clinical and demographic data,received therapies,neurologic prognosis and complications were evaluated.Results:Patients with and without autoimmune encephalitis were compared in terms of age,sex,symptom duration before treatment,initial cerebrospinal fluid protein,glucose,red blood count and white blood count but no significant difference was found.Autoimmune complications were seen in four patients.N-methyl-D-aspartate encephalitis was observed in three patients and choreoathetosis was seen in one patient.The average follow-up period was 48.3 months.Twenty-five percent of the patients were receiving multiple antiepileptic drug(AED)treatment,43.8%were receiving single AED treatment and 31.3%were not receiving AED treatment at the end of the follow-up.Motor disability was observed in 12.5%and drug-resistant epilepsy was observed in 6.3%who had autoimmune complications.Conclusions:Seizures and movement disorders were controlled with immunotherapy and autoantibodies should be studied routinely.Treatment should be started early upon recognition of autoimmune complications through follow-up by measuring autoantibody levels and clinical examination results.Effective prevention and curative treatment modalities are needed to avoid herpes simplex virus encephalitis complications.

Synthesis,Crystal Structural and Electrical Conductivity Properties of Fe-Doped Zinc Oxide Powders at High Temperatures

The synthesis,crystal structure and electrical conductivity properties of Fe-doped ZnO powders（in the range of 0.25-15 mol%） were reported in this paper.I-phase samples,which were indexed as single phase with a hexagonal（wurtzite） structure in the Fe-doped ZnO binary system,were determined by X-ray diffraction（XRD）.The solubility limit of Fe in the ZnO lattice is 3 mol% at 950℃.The above mixed phase was observed.And the impurity phase was determined as the cubic-ZnFe 2 O 4 phase when compared with standard XRD data using the PDF program.This study focused on single I-phase ZnO samples which were synthesized at 950℃ because the limit of the solubility range is the widest at this temperature.The lattice parameters a and c of the I-phase decreased with Fe-doping concentration.The morphology of the I-phase samples was analyzed with a scanning electron microscope.The grain size of the I-phase samples increased with heat treatment and doping concentration.The electrical conductivity of the pure ZnO and single I-phase samples was investigated using the four-probe dc method at 100-950℃ in air atmosphere.The electrical conductivity values of pure ZnO,0.25 and 3 mol% Fe-doped ZnO samples at 100℃ were 2×10-6,1.7×10-3 and 6.3×10-4 S.cm-1,and at 950℃ they were 3.4,8.5 and 4 S.cm-1,respectively.

Effect of Doping and High-Temperature Annealing on the Structural and Electrical Properties of Zn_(1-X)Ni_XO(0≤X≤0.15) Powders

This paper reported the synthesis, crystal structure and electrical conductivity properties of Ni-doped ZnO powders （i.e. Zn1-xNixO binary system, X=0, 0.0025, 0.005, 0.0075 and in the range 0.01≤X〈0.15）. I- phase samples, which were indexed as single phase with a hexagonal （wurtzite） structure in the Zn1-xNixO binary system, were determined by X-ray diffraction （XRD）. The widest range of the I-phase was determined as 0≤X≤0.03 at 1200℃; above this range the mixed phase was observed. The impurity phase was determined as NiO when compared with standard XRD data, using the PDF program. We focused on single f-phase ZnO samples which were synthesized at 1200℃ because of the widest range of solubility limit at this temperature. It was observed that the lattice parameters a and c of the I-phase decreased with Ni doping concentration. The morphology of the I-phase samples was analyzed with a scanning electron microscope. The electrical conductivity of the pure ZnO and single I-phase samples were studied by using the four-probe dc method at temperatures between 100 and 950℃ in air atmosphere. The electrical conductivity values of pure ZnO and 3 mol% Ni-doped ZnO samples at 100℃C were 2×10^-6 and 4.8×10^-6 Ω-1.cm^-1, and at 950℃ they were 1.8 and 3.6 Ω-1cm-1, respectively. In other words, electrical conductivity increased with Ni doping concentration.

Echoes of the past:prevalence and correlates of PTSD among formerly abducted youths in northern Uganda:findings from the WAYS study

Background Post-traumatic stress disorder(PTSD)has considerable and persistent effects on survivors of war,particularly in postconflict areas.Yet,evidence on what keeps survivors on the path of PTSD remains scarce.Aims The current study aimed to assess the prevalence and correlates of PTSD symptoms among the war-affected population in northern Uganda.Methods Data from 476 war-affected youths(aged 20–27 years)who had participated in a longitudinal cohort study were analysed to describe the enduring associations of background and postwar environmental risk factors with PTSD symptoms.The Impact of Event Scale-Revised was used to evaluate symptoms of PTSD.Descriptive statistics were used to compute background and postwar environmental correlates.Binary logistic regression analyses were fitted to assess the magnitude of the effects of the correlates on PTSD symptoms.Results Background and postwar environmental factors(eg,sexual abuse and injury in captivity)were significantly associated with PTSD symptoms.Postwar environmental factors associated with PTSD symptoms included postwar hardships,stigma/discrimination,chronic illness,community relations,family acceptance and general functioning,among others.The odds ratios(ORs)for postwar hardships were 2.41(95%confidence interval(CI):1.63 to 3.56)and 2.90(95%CI:2.03 to 4.14)for high and severe PTSD,respectively.For stigma/discrimination,compared with higher scores,the ORs were 3.38(95%CI:2.22 to 5.17)and 4.12(95%CI:2.69 to 6.30)for high and severe PTSD symptoms,respectively.Conclusions Background and postwar environmental stressors exacerbate the severity of PTSD symptoms in survivors of war and should form the basis for interventions to alleviate the toxic effects of war on survivors.

Background:Gastric cancer is the 2 nd most common cause of cancer-related deaths,and the morbidity rate after surgery is reported to be as high as 46%.The estimation of possible complications,morbidity,and mortality and the ability to specify patients at high risk have become substantial for an intimate follow-up and for proper management in the intensive care unit.This study aimed to determine the prognostic value of the preoperative platelet-tolymphocyte ratio(PLR)and neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio(NLR)and their relations with clinical outcomes and complications after gastrectomy for gastric cancer.Methods:This single-center,retrospective cohort study evaluated the data of 292 patients who underwent gastrectomy with curative intent between January 2015 and June 2018 in a tertiary state hospital in Ankara,Turkey.A receiver operating characteristic curve was generated to evaluate the ability of laboratory values to predict clinically relevant postoperative complications.The area under the curve was computed to compare the predictive power of the NLR and PLR.Then,the cutoff points were selected as the stratifying values for the PLR and NLR.Results:The area under the curve values of the PLR(0.60,95%CI 0.542–0.657)and NLR(0.556,95%CI 0.497–0.614)were larger than those of the other preoperative laboratory values.For the PLR,the diagnostic sensitivity and specificity were 50.00%and 72.22%,respectively,whereas for the NLR,the diagnostic sensitivity and specificity were 37.50%and 80.16%,respectively.The PLR was related to morbidity,whereas the relation of the NLR with mortality was more prominent.This study demonstrated that the PLR and NLR may predict mortality and morbidity via the ClavienDindo classification in gastric cancer patients.The variable was grade≥3 in the Clavien-Dindo classification,including complications requiring surgical or endoscopic interventions,life-threatening complications,and death.Both the PLR and NLR differed significantly according to Clavien-Dindo grade≥3.In this analysis,the PLR was relate
