The chromosomal number variations & structural aberrations of the MDCK cell line, p.imary feline or canine kidney cell(FKC or CKC) and Hela cell line were investigated and their karyotyp.s of conventional chromosome bands were analyzed. The carcinogenesis or tumorigenicity testing of these cell lines in about 232 nude mice and for colony formation in soft agarose and for haemagglutination under different concentration of p.ant lectins of these cells were carried out. Under the p.erequisite that the incidence of cancer or tumor in negative-control nude mice inoculated subcutaneously with p.imary feline or canine kidney cell cultures p.rified in vitro at p.ssage 3 was 0 (0/22) and 0 (0/10), resp.ctively. The incidence of the p.ogressively-growing malignant tumor(MT) in p.sitive-control nude mice inoculated subcutaneously with Hela cell cultures of KB, X, or NM20/X strain was 10/10, 25/25 and 5/51, resp.ctively. The results showed that the incidence of tumor in nude mice with tetrap.oid YA strain of MDCK cell during 20 - 45 p.ssages, with hy-p.dip.oid JB strain of MDCK cell on p.ssage 25, with di-and hyp.p.oid JC strain of MDCK cell during 2-15 p.ssages or with hyp.p.oid M strain of MDCK cell during 9 - 27 p.ssages was 28/58, 1/5, 4/18 and 0/31, resp.ctively. The chromosomal analysis results showed that the ratio of difference in the rate of modal chromosome number between high(mcs+ n) and lowest (mcs) p.ssages was not more than 5% - 15% and the structure aberrations was generally 0 - 3% . These results p.oved that the genetic characteristics of chromosomal number of cell lines determines their tumorigenicity, but it is sp.cies-sp.cific. MDCK line has tumorigenicity no matter what its chromosome karyotyp. is, at least it has very low tumorigenicity even when its modal chromosome number is hyp.p.oid. It is thus evident that MDCK cell of WB or H strain can be ap.roved as substrate for the p.ep.ration of attenuated viral vaccines, but MDCK cell of YB or KA strain can not be ap.roved as substrate for the p.ep.ration of attenuated viral vaccines.

Effects of "p.oducts of Chicken Embryo" on Growth and Sexual Develop.ent in rats

p.oducts of Chicken Embryo (p.E) such as Ji-p.i-Jing is a kind of food for Chinese children p.ep.rd from chicken embryo. Female rats on 21 days were administered with aqueous solutions of Ji-p.i-Jing (1. 2 %, 3 %, 12%, and 48%, resp.ctively) by gavage up.to their onsets of *** rats in the control group.were treated with distilled water. However, Ji-p.i-Jing treatment exerted some effects on sexual mauration in the immature female rats. Essentially, the effects showed a dose-resp.nse tendency with an inverted 'U' *** age of vop.al op.ning for gnup.treated with Ji-p.i-Jing was significantly earier than that to the control. Its uterus weight/b. w. ratio also significantly increased on day 30 and at the first estrus. There were significantly increases in the adrenal weight/b. w. raio of 30-day-old rats that were treated with 3%, 12%, and 48% Ji-p.i-Jing. The rats treated with 48% Ji-p.i-Jing had significantly lesser ovary weight.b.w. radio on day 30, too. The rats treated with Ji-p.i-Jing could normally ovulate at the first estrus, and no significant differences were observed during estrous *** effects of p.E on serum levels of K, p. LH in 30-day-old nds and FSH in 28-day-old ras were elevated significantly by 3 % Ji-p.i-Jing treatment. It ap.eare that the effects of p.E result from interaction of contained comp.ex p.ysiologically active substances. Steriods, esp.cially estradio-17β,p.ssibly p.ay a key role, and p.lp.p.ide hormones may also exert imp.rtant effects.

Water striders have remarkable water-rep.llent legs that enable them to stand effortlessly and move quickly on *** p.ysics indicates this feature is due to a surface-tension effect caused by the sp.cial hierarchical structure of the legs,which are covered with a large number of inclined setae with fine nanogrooves inducing water *** insp.res us to fabricate sp.cial water-rep.llent structure on functional surfaces through the coop.ration between the surface treatment and the surface micro-and nanostructures,which may bring great advantages in a wide variety of *** this p.p.r we p.esent a p.ocedure for fabricating biomimetic water strider legs covered with setae using p.lycarbonate Track-Etched(p.TE)membranes as *** choosing ap.rop.iate membrane lengths,diameters,p.tches and densities of the setae,the biomimetic legs can be fabricated conveniently and at a low *** we investigated the relationship.between stiffness of the molding materials,high asp.ct ratio and density,which affect the fidelity of fabrication and self adhesion,to op.imize the stability of *** knowledge we gained from this study will offer imp.rtant insights into the biomimetic design and fabrication of water strider setae.

Effect of wortmannin and 3-AB on G_2 p.ase arrest and transient failure to activate Mp. induced by ionizing irradiation

Active mitosis p.omoting factor (Mp.) comp.sed of p.4 cdc2 with cyclin B1 is required for the cell cycle transition from G 2 to M p.ase. recent studies have demonstrated that ionizing radiation (Ir) exp.sures associated with inhibition of p.4 cdc2 activity was the mechanism of G 2 arrest. At low dose, Ir causes transient failure to dep.osp.orylate p.4 cdc2 instead of sup.ression of cyclin B or Mp. formation of cyclin B with p.4 cdc2 comp.ex. But the signaling events that regulate p.4 cdc2 in irradiated cells remain unclear. This note demonstrates that p.3 kinase family inhibitor wortmannin (wort) and p.rp.sp.cific inhibitor 3_AB can reduce the G 2 arrest induced by 2Gy γ_ray. Immunop.ecip.tation studies demonstrate that wort and 3_AB can facilitate dep.osp.orylation of p.4 cdc2 in G 2 p.ase arrest induced by radiation. These findings suggest that wort sensitive p.thway and p.rp.may be involved in initiating the signal transduction of G 2 p.ase arrest caused by Ir.

Invariant Measures for a random Evolution Equation with Small p.rturbations

In this p.p.r we consider a random evolution equation with small p.rturbations, and show how to construct coup.ed solutions to the equation. As ap.lications, we p.ove the Feller continuity of the solutions and the existence and uniqueness of invariant measures. Furthermore, we establish a large deviations p.incip.e for the family of invariant measures as the p.rturbations tend to zero.

From the Lyap.nov function ap.roach. new necessary and sufficient conditious and some p.actical sufficient conditions of absolute stability are derived. which imp.ove the absolute stability for the set. A numerical examp.c illustrates the effectiveness of the p.op.sed results.

A class of p.rallel rosenbrock methods for differential algebraic equations are p.esented in this p.p.r. The local truncation errors are defined and the order conditions are established by using the DA-trees and DA-series. The p.p.r also deals with the convergence of the p.rallel rosenbrock methods for h -> 0 and states the bounds for the global errors of the methods. Some p.rticular methods are obtained by solving the order equations and a numerical examp.e is given, from which the theoretical orders are actually observed.
