Interleukin 17A deficiency alleviates neuroinflammation and cognitive impairment in an experimental model of diabetic encephalopathy

Interleukin 17A(IL-17A)was previously shown to be a key pro-inflammatory factor in diabetes mellitus and associated complications.However,the role of IL-17A in diabetic encephalopathy remains poorly understood.In this study,we established a mouse model of diabetic encephalopathy that was deficient in IL-17A by crossing Il17a-/-mice with spontaneously diabetic Ins2^(Akita)(Akita)mice.Blood glucose levels and body weights were monitored from 2-32 weeks of age.When mice were 32 weeks of age,behavioral tests were performed,including a novel object recognition test for assessing short-term memory and learning and a Morris water maze test for evaluating hippocampus-dependent spatial learning and memory.IL-17A levels in the serum,cerebrospinal fluid,and hippocampus were detected with enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays and real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction.Moreover,proteins related to cognitive dysfunction(amyloid precursor protein,β-amyloid cleavage enzyme 1,p-tau,and tau),apoptosis(caspase-3 and-9),inflammation(inducible nitric oxide synthase and cyclooxygenase 2),and occludin were detected by western blot assays.Pro-inflammatory cytokines including tumor necrosis factor-α,interleukin-1β,and interferon-γin serum and hippocampal tissues were measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays.Microglial activation and hippocampal neuronal apoptosis were detected by immunofluorescent staining.Compared with that in wild-type mice,mice with diabetic encephalopathy had higher IL-17A levels in the serum,cerebrospinal fluid,and hippocampus;downregulation of occludin expression;lower cognitive ability;greater loss of hippocampal neurons;increased microglial activation;and higher expression of inflammatory factors in the serum and hippocampus.IL-17A knockout attenuated the abovementioned changes in mice with diabetic encephalopathy.These findings suggest that IL-17A participates in the pathological process of diabetic encephalopathy.Furthermore,IL-17A deficiency reduces diabetic encephalopathy-mediated neuroinflammati

Study on first caving fracture mechanism of overlying roof rock in steep thick coal seam

Based on the elastic plate theory, a mechanical model of thin plate for the first caving of overlying roof rock in steep mining face was established. The analytical solution of the deflection and stress distribution of roof rocks was obtained. According to the specific geological conditions of the 5-103 panel in Shanxi,the failure of roof rocks and the influence of seam dip on it during the exploitation were theoretically investigated. Meanwhile, the first caving characteristics of the overlying rock in the steep coal seam were investigated based on its stress contour. The results show that the dip angle has a distinct influence on the caving interval and the first caving interval for the 5-103 panel is 37 m in theory. Finally, a systematic monitoring on the behavior of rock pressures was conducted. The measured results agree well with the theoretical prediction, which provides a good reference for practical steep coal seam mining.

The Derivation of Nutrient Criteria for the Adjacent Waters of Yellow River Estuary in China

Ecological protection and high-quality development of the Yellow River basin are becoming part of the national strategy in recent years.The Yellow River Estuary has been seriously affected by human activities.Especially,it has been severely polluted by the nitrogen and phosphorus from land sources,which have caused serious eutrophication and harmful algal blooms.Nutrient criteria,however,was not developed for the Yellow River Estuary,which hindered nutrient management measures and eutrophication risk assessment in this key ecological function zone of China.Based on field data during 2004-2019,we adopted the frequency distribution method,correlation analysis,Linear Regression Model(LRM),Classification and Regression Tree(CART)and Nonparametric Changepoint Analysis(nCPA)methods to establish the nutrient criteria for the adjacent waters of Yellow River Estuary.The water quality criteria of dissolved inorganic nitrogen(DIN)and soluble reactive phosphorus(SRP)are recommended as 244.0μg L^(−1) and 22.4μg L^(−1),respectively.It is hoped that the results will provide scientific basis for the formulation of nutrient standards in this important estuary of China.

Single-atom Cu anchored on N-doped graphene/carbon nitride heterojunction for enhanced photocatalytic H_(2)O_(2) production

Photocatalytic production of H_(2)O_(2) by polymeric carbon nitride has been regarded as a promising ap-proach for the conversion of solar energy into valuable chemicals.However,the efficiency of pristine car-bon nitride is limited by the rapid charge recombination and the lack of suitable active sites.Herein,we introduce single-atom Cu anchored on N-doped graphene(Cu-NG)as a cocatalyst coupled with carbon nitride via covalent bonding to enhance photocatalytic H_(2)O_(2) production.The Cu-NG/carbon nitride could broaden the light absorption from UV to near-infrared region,contributing to the photocatalytic process.Moreover,NG containing electron-rich N atoms could serve as anchoring sites for stabilizing single-atom Cu.Importantly,the single-atom Cu acts not only as an electron sink to steer the interfacial charge sep-aration but also as an active site for molecular oxygen adsorption and activation.With the synergistic effect of the enhanced interfacial charge separation and suitable active sites,Cu-NG/carbon nitride ex-hibits improved photocatalytic performance with an H_(2)O_(2) generation rate of 2856μmol g^(−1)h^(−1),which is 2.6 times that of pristine carbon nitride.This work provides a protocol for high-performance photocat-alytic H_(2)O_(2) production using a single-atom cocatalyst.

Efficient overall photosynthesis of H_(2)O_(2) by the BTz@Mn_(0.2)Cd_(0.8)S S-scheme heterojunction

The photosynthesis of hydrogen peroxide(H_(2)O_(2))through the selective 2e^(-)oxygen reduction reaction(ORR)from O_(2)and H_(2)O stands out as an environmentally sustainable and cost-effective method for generating this essential chemical.Unfortunately,the widespread application of most photocatalysts is impeded by their reliance on sacrificial agents.In this context,we present a noteworthy advancement in the form of a step-scheme(S-scheme)heterojunction involving a donor-acceptor(D-A)-conjugated polymer and manganese cadmium sulfide(BTz@MCS).This innovative configuration enables efficient photocatalytic H_(2)O_(2)production within a non-sacrificial system,showcasing an impressive H_(2)O_(2)yield of 5,368μmol g^(-1)h^(-1)and an apparent quantum yield of 4.5%at 420 nm.Through insights gained from in-situ irradiated X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(ISIXPS),in-situ diffuse reflectance infrared Fourier transformations spectroscopy(DRIFTS),and density function calculations(DFT),it is revealed that the sp^(2)C between thiazole-thiazole rings at the BTz and the concentrated holes at the MCS function as spatially separated redox centers.These centers catalyze the selective 2e^(-)ORR and 4e^(-)water oxidation reaction(WOR)concurrently.The O_(2)generated from the WOR is subsequently utilized by the ORR cycle,enabling the overall photosynthesis of H_(2)O_(2)with accelerated total reaction kinetics.Furthermore,the high photocatalytic performance of the developed catalyst is attributed to well-designed S-scheme heterojunctions with tuned band structures.The spatially separated redox centers and effective transfer of photogenerated charge carriers facilitated by the internal electric field significantly enhance reaction kinetics.This study introduces a promising avenue for photocatalytic H_(2)O_(2)production without sacrificial agents,providing valuable insights into the underlying mechanisms in S-scheme heterojunctions.

Study of Texture Segmentation and Classification for Grading Small Hepatocellular Carcinoma Based on CT Images

To grade Small Hepatocellular Car Cinoma(SHCC)using texture analysis of CT images,we retrospectively analysed 68 cases of Grade II(medium-differentiation)and 37 cases of Grades III and IV(high-differentiation).The grading scheme follows 4 stages:(1)training a Super Resolution Generative Adversarial Network(SRGAN)migration learning model on the Lung Nodule Analysis 2016 Dataset,and employing this model to reconstruct Super Resolution Images of the SHCC Dataset(SR-SHCC)images;(2)designing a texture clustering method based on Gray-Level Co-occurrence Matrix(GLCM)to segment tumour regions,which are Regions Of Interest(ROIs),from the original and SR-SHCC images,respectively;(3)extracting texture features on the ROIs;(4)performing statistical analysis and classifications.The segmentation achieved accuracies of 0.9049 and 0.8590 in the original SHCC images and the SR-SHCC images,respectively.The classification achived an accuracy of 0.838 and an Area Under the ROC Curve(AUC)of 0.84.The grading scheme can effectively reduce poor impacts on the texture analysis of SHCC ROIs.It may play a guiding role for physicians in early diagnoses of medium-differentiation and high-differentiation in SHCC.

Constraints on black hole spins with a general relativistic accretion disk corona model

The peaks in the spectra of the accretion disks surrounding massive black holes in quasars are in the far-UV or soft X-ray band, which are usually not observed. However, in the disk corona model, soft photons from the disk are Comptonized to high energy in the hot corona, and the hard X-ray spectra （lu- minosity and spectral shape） contain information on the incident spectra from the disk. The values of black hole spin parameter a. are inferred from the spectral fitting, which are spread over a large range, ~ -0.94 to 0.998. We find that the inclination angles and mass accretion rates are well determined by the spectral fitting, but the results are sensitive to the accuracy of black hole mass estimates. No tight constraints on the black hole spins are achieved, if the uncertainties in black hole mass measurements are a factor of four, which are typical for the single-epoch reverberation mapping method. Recently, the accuracy of black hole mass measurement has been significantly improved to 0.2 - 0.4 dex with the velocity resolved reverber- ation mapping method. The black hole spin can be well constrained if the mass measurement accuracy is 50%. In the accretion disk corona scenario, a fraction of power dissipated in the disk is transported into the corona, and therefore the accretion disk is thinner than a bare disk for the same mass accretion rate, because the radiation pressure in the disk is reduced. We find that the thin disk approximation, H/R ≤0. 1, is still valid if 0.3 〈 m 〈 0.5, provided half of the dissipated power is radiated in the corona above the disk.

A purely green approach to low-cost mass production of zeolitic imidazolate frameworks

Although zeolitic imidazolate frameworks(ZIFs)have bright prospects in wide fields like gas storage/separation,catalysis and medicine,etc.,their large-scale applications are bottlenecked by the absence of their low-cost commercial production technique.Here,we report an uncon ventional method suitable for environmentally friendly and low-cost mass-production of ZIFs.In this method,taking the synthesis of ZIF-8 as an example,ZnO was used instead of Zn(NO_(3))_(2) in traditional solvent synthesis methods and CO_(2) was introduced to dissolve ZnO in aqueous solution of 2-methylimidazole(HMeim)and form water soluble salt([ZnMeim]^(+)[MeimCOO]^(-))at room temperature.Then,by removing CO_(2) through heating or vacuuming,Meim-ions are produced and instantaneously assemble with[ZnMeim]^(+)s to generate ZIF-8 without any by product.Due to the absence of strong acid anions(such as NO^(-)_(3) and Cl^(-) et al.)in solution,the washing of filter cake required in the conventional approaches could be omitted and the filtrate containing only water and HMeim could be reused completely.This method is really green as no waste gas or liquid generates because CO_(2) and water could be recycled perfectly.It overcomes almost all bottlenecks occurred in commercial production of ZIF-8 when using traditional methods.A pilot plant was established for mass-production of ZIF-8 and hundreds kilograms of ZIF-8 was produced,which indicates that the new method is not only environmentally friendly but also low cost and commercial accessibility.It is expected that the new method would open an avenue for commercial applications of ZIFs.

武昌地区已刊布的50余座隋代墓葬中,有一半以上设置了耳室。本文通过将这类墓葬与相关材料进行比较,认为该葬俗受到了长江中游涢水流域南北朝末期墓葬的直接影响。涢水流域南北朝墓葬中出现耳室则应渊源于关陇地区北朝墓葬设置耳室或小龛的习俗。这与梁简文帝大宝元年以后,“汉东之地”皆被西魏、北周相继控制的历史背景有关。隋平陈统一南北后,这种葬俗被江南的武昌地区借鉴吸收,最终形成了颇具地域特点的墓葬形制。
