Intelligent solubility estimation of gaseous hydrocarbons in ionic liquids

The research focuses on evaluating how well new solvents attract light hydrocarbons, such as propane,methane, and ethane, in natural gas sweetening units. It is important to accurately determine the solubility of hydrocarbons in these solvents to effectively manage the sweetening process. To address this challenge, the study proposes using advanced empirical models based on artificial intelligence techniques like Multi-Layer Artificial Neural Network(ML-ANN), Support Vector Machines(SVM), and Least Square Support Vector Machine(LSSVM). The parameters for the SVM and LSSVM models are estimated using optimization methods like Genetic Algorithm(GA), Particle Swarm Optimization(PSO), and Shuffled Complex Evolution(SCE). Data on the solubility of propane, methane, and ethane in various ionic liquids are collected from reliable literature sources to create a comprehensive database. The proposed artificial intelligence models show great accuracy in predicting hydrocarbon solubility in ionic liquids. Among these, the hybrid SVM models perform exceptionally well, with the PSO-SVM hybrid model being particularly efficient computationally. To ensure a comprehensive analysis, different examples of hydrocarbons and their order are included. Additionally, a comparative analysis is conducted to compare the AI models with the thermodynamic COSMO-RS model for solubility analysis. The results demonstrate the superiority of the AI models, as they outperform traditional thermodynamic models across a wide range of data. In conclusion, this study introduces advanced artificial intelligence algorithms such as ML-ANN, SVM, and LSSVM in accurately estimating the solubility of hydrocarbons in ionic liquids. The incorporation of optimization techniques and variations in hydrocarbon examples improves the accuracy, precision, and reliability of these intelligent models. Influences of the fluidizing and spouting pulsation on particle motion in spout-fluid beds

Effects of variable airflow on particle motion in spout-fluid beds are studied. Computational fluid dynam- ics using Navier-Stokes equations for the gas phase coupled with the discrete element method using Newton＇s laws for the solid phase have been employed. Results indicate that increasing the fluidizing velocity diminishes dead zones and increases both the total height of the bed and the traversed distance by particles in the steady spout-fluid bed. In pulsed airfows, two configurations are investigated, namely, the spouted pulsed-fluidized bed with pulsed flow of the fluidizing velocity, and the pulsed-spouted flu- idized bed with pulsed flow of the spouting velocity. The positive effect of pulsation on particle motion is shown and the effects of parameters, such as amplitude and frequency, on the dynamics of the bed are investigated in each configuration. An increase of up to 19% in traversed distance is found for the range studied, which suggests flow pulsation as a promising technique for increasing particle mixing in spout-fluid beds.

Effect of correcting near-wall forces on nanoparticle transport in a microchannel

This paper studies the importance of corrections that account for the presence of walls on the forces act- ing on nanoparticles during their transport in *** and experimental investigations have reported anisotropic and hindered motion of nanoparticles near a microchannel wall. To investigate the influence of the near-wall effects, various conditions were examined. In particular, computer simu- lations were performed with and without the near-wall correction of forces. The corresponding capture efficiency and the average penetration of the captured nanoparticles were compared, and the importance of the near-wall corrections was assessed. Effects were evaluated for the nanoparticle diameter, the chan- nel width, the channel length, and the pressure gradient. The results indicate that the inclusion of wall effects is crucial for the analysis of nanoparticle transport in microchannels.

Green's function solution for transient heat conduction in annular fin during solidification of phase change material

The Green＇s function method is applied for the transient temperature of an annular fin when a phase change material （PCM） solidifies on it. The solidification of the PCMs takes place in a cylindrical shell storage. The thickness of the solid PCM on the fin varies with time and is obtained by the Megerlin method. The models are found with the Bessel equation to form an analytical solution. Three different kinds of boundary conditions are investigated. The comparison between analytical and numerical solutions is given. The results demonstrate that the significant accuracy is obtained for the temperature distribution for the fin in all cases.

Numerical Solution of Nonlinear Integro-Differential Equations with Initial Conditions by Bernstein Operational Matrix of Derivative

In this paper, we present a practical matrix method for solving nonlinear Volterra-Fredholm integro-differential equations under initial conditions in terms of Bernstein polynomials on the interval [0,1]. The nonlinear part is approximated in the form of matrices’ equations by operational matrices of Bernstein polynomials, and the differential part is approximated in the form of matrices’ equations by derivative operational matrix of Bernstein polynomials. Finally, the main equation is transformed into a nonlinear equations system, and the unknown of the main equation is then approximated. We also give some numerical examples to show the applicability of the operational matrices for solving nonlinear Volterra-Fredholm integro-differential equations (NVFIDEs).

Sub-acute toxicity assessment of Sapium ellipticum (Hochst) Pax ethanol leaf extract in Wistar rats

Objective: To determine the toxicity of Sapium ellipticum (S. ellipticum) ethanol leaf extract in animal model. Methods: Three groups (Ⅰ, Ⅱ and Ⅲ, n = 10) of Wistar rats were respectively given 0.5 mL corn oil, 400 and 800 mg/kg BW of S. ellipticum extract, twice daily, for a period of 14 days. Lethal dose (LD50) was determined and morbidity was assessed via repeated dose administration of the extract. Results: S. ellipticum at the doses employed did not cause any significant changes in the serum concentrations of ALT, AST and ALP compared to the control group. The level of total serum cholesterol was significantly (P < 0.05) and dose-dependently reduced in the extract-treated animals by 13.5% and 16.0% compared to the control animals. Total plasma protein concentration and body weight were respectively increased by 8.7% and 13.7% at 800 mg dosage of the extract. The intraperitoneal (i.p.) and intramuscular (i.m.) LD50 values of S. ellipticum leaf extract were determined as 979.80 and 1341.60 mg/kg BW respectively while the oral (p.o.) LD50 was estimated to be greater than 45000 mg/kg BW. Conclusions: The observations noted in this study apparently validate the use of S. ellipticum ethanol leaf extract in folklore medicine in terms of herbal safety.

Antioxidant and chemical properties of essential oil extracted from blend of selected spices

Objective:To investigate the chemical properties of essential oil extracted from blends of selected Nigerian spices as well as its antioxidant protective potentials against free radical in ***:Essential oil was extracted from selected spices blend consisting of Monodora myristica,Myristica fragrans,Tetrapleura tetraptera,and Aframomum sceptrum using a Clevenger type *** obtained was subjected to phytochemical and gas chromatography-mass spectrometer analysis as well as analyzed for antioxidant activity which covers for 1,1-diphenyl-2 picrylhydrazyl,nitric oxide scavenging activities and reducing ***:Gas chromatography-mass spectrometer analysis revealed over 50 compoundfs withα-phellandrene being the most predominant compound(27.32%),which was followed by(-)-β-bourbonene(15.78%)and 5-(1-methylethyl)-α-phellandrene(11.80%).Phytochemical analysis showed high flavonoid content and a lower phenolic *** oil showed a dose like dependent effect on the1-diphenyl-2 picrylhydrazyl and nitric oxide scavenging activities,these activities increased with increasing *** same was also observed for the reducing power properties of the ***:The antioxidant activities exhibited by the essential oil in vitro signify its protective potential against free *** chemical constituents,α-phellandrene in particular and the studied phytochemicals may be responsible for these ***,in vivo study is needed to further authenticate this potency.
