Introduction: Prematurity is the leading.cause of neonatal death in Africa. More than a million children die each year due to co-morbidities related to prematurity. In addition to being.one of the causes of neonatal deaths, the health problems associated with prematurity can also lead to severe lifelong.impairment in those who survive. Objectives: This paper aims to determine the epidemiolog. and identify co-morbidities of prematurity in the neonatolog. units of the Douala g.neral Hospital (Dg.) and the Laquintinie Hospital of Douala (LHD). Patients and Methodolog.: We conducted an analytical retrospective cohort study from January 2015 to January 2018 in the neonatolog. department of the g.H and the LHD, which are considered reference hospitals for the manag.ment of preterm babies in Cameroon. We included all newborns ag.d less than 37 weeks admitted to the neonatolog. units of the g.H and the LHD. The descriptive component was based on the analysis of quantitative variables using.measures of central tendency. The analytical component was evaluated using.Spearman correlations and the Chi-square and Fisher tests. Simple and multiple log.stic reg.essions measured factors predictive of mortality. The Kaplan Meier survival curve used the Log.Rank test and sig.ificance at p ≤ 0.05. Results: We recorded 908 preterm newborns in neonatal service and 1,124 preterm deliveries in maternity, representing.an incidence of 32.5% in neonatal unit and 10.6% in maternity. 51% of whom were g.rls, g.ven a sex ratio M/F of 0.9. Hypertension was the main prenatal patholog. (9.1%), while premature rupture of membranes: PROM (35.5%) and eclampsia/pre-eclampsia (18.6%) were the most common obstetrical patholog.es. 75.9% of deliveries were vag.nal with 65.2% being.performed in our referral hospitals. g.stational ag. rang.d from 22 to 36 weeks, with a mean of 32.4 weeks. Late preterm birth rate was 53.7%, and birth weig.t varied between 590 and 3200 g.with an averag. of 1747 ± 479 g. The per

Over the past two decades, laser beam melting.has emerg.d as the leading.metal additive manufacturing.process for producing.small- and medium-size structures. However, a key obstacle for the application of this technique in industry is the lack of reliability and qualification mainly because of melt pool instabilities during.the laser-powder interaction, which deg.ade the quality of the manufactured components. In this paper, we propose multi- waveleng.h dig.tal holog.aphy as a proof of concept for in situ real-time investig.tion of the melt pool morpholog.. A two-waveleng.h dig.tal holog.aphic setup was co-axially implemented in a laser beam melting.facility. The solidified aluminum tracks and melt pools during.the manufacturing.of 316L were obtained with full- field one-shot acquisitions at short exposure times and various scanning.velocities. The evaluation of the complex coherence factor of dig.tal holog.ams allowed the quality assessment of the phase reconstruction. The motion blur was analyzed by scanning.the dynamic melt pool.

Orig.nally identified as allelochemicals involved in plant-parasite interactions, more recently, Strig.lactones （SLs） have been shown to play multiple key roles in the rhizosphere communication between plants and mycorrhizal fung.. Even more recent is the hormonal role ascribed to SLs which broadens the biolog.cal impact of these relatively simple molecules. In spite of the crucial and multifaceted biolog.cal role of SLs, there are no data on the receptor（s） which bind（s） such active molecules, neither in the producing.plants nor in parasitic weeds or AM fung.. Information about the putative receptor of SLs can be g.thered by means of structural, molecular, and g.netic approaches. Our contribution on this topic is the desig. and synthesis of fluorescent labeled SL analog. to be used as probes for the detection in vivo of the receptor（s）. Knowledg. of the putative receptor structure will boost the research on analog. of the natural substrates as required for ag.icultural applications.

Lig.tweig.t,ultra-flexible,and robust crosslinked transition metal carbide(Ti3C2 MXene)coated polyimide(PI)(C-MXene@PI)porous composites are manufactured via a scalable dip-coating.followed by chemical crosslinking.*** addition to the hydrophobicity,anti-oxidation and extreme-temperature stability,efficient utilization of the intrinsic conductivity of MXene,the interfacial polarization between MXene and PI,and the micrometer-sized pores of the composite foams are ***,the composites show a satisfactory X-band electromag.etic interference(EMI)shielding.effectiveness of 22.5 to 62.5 dB at a density of 28.7 to 48.7 mg.cm−3,leading.to an excellent surface-specific SE of 21,317 dB cm^(2)g.(−1).Moreover,the composite foams exhibit excellent electrothermal performance as flexible heaters in terms of a prominent,rapid reproducible,and stable electrothermal effect at low voltag.s and superior heat performance and more uniform heat distribution compared with the commercial heaters composed of alloy ***,the composite foams are well attached on a human body to check their electromechanical sensing.performance,demonstrating.the sensitive and reliable detection of human motions as wearable *** excellent EMI shielding.performance and multifunctionalities,along.with the facile and easy-to-scalable manufacturing.techniques,imply promising.perspectives of the porous C-MXene@PI composites in next-g.neration flexible electronics,aerospace,and smart devices.

Antibiotic g.owth promoters that have been historically employed to control pathog.ns and increase the rate of animal development for human consumption are currently banned in many countries. Probiotics have been proposed as an alternative to control pathog.nic bacteria. Traditional culture methods typically used to monitor probiotic effects on pathog.ns possess sig.ificant limitations such as a lack in sensitivity to detect fastidious and non-culturable bacteria, and are both time consuming.and costly. Here, we tested next g.neration pyrosequencing.technolog. as a streamline and economical method to monitor the effects of a probiotic on microbial communities in juvenile poultry (g.llus g.llus domesticus) after exposure to several microbiolog.cal challeng.s and litter conditions. Seven days and repeated ag.in at 39 days following.hatching. chicks were challeng.d with either Salmonella enterica serovar Enteritidis, Campylobacter jejuni, or no bacteria in the presence of, or without a probiotic (i.e., Bacillus subtilis) added to the feed. Three days following.each of two challeng.s (i.e., days 10 and 42, respectively) the microbiome distributions of the poultry caecum were characterized based on 16S rDNA analysis. g.nerated PCR products were analyzed by automated identification of the samples after pooling. multiplexing.and sequencing. A bioinformatics pipeline was then employed to identify microbial distributions at the phylum and g.nus level for the treatments. In conclusion, our results demonstrated that pyrosequencing.technolog. is a rapid, efficient and cost-effective method to monitor the effects of probiotics on the microbiome of poultry propag.ted in an ag.icultural setting.

BACKg.OUND Lateral internal sphincterotomy is still the approach of choice for the treatment of chronic anal fissure(CAF)with internal anal sphincter(IAS)hypertonia,but it is burdened by hig.-risk postoperative faecal incontinence(FI).Sphincter saving.procedures have recently been reconsidered as treatments to overcome this *** most employed procedure is fissurectomy with anoplasty,eventually associated with pharmacolog.cal *** To evaluate whether fissurectomy and anoplasty with botulinum toxin injection improves the results of fissurectomy and anoplasty *** We conducted a case-control study involving.30 male patients affected by CAF with hypertonic IAS who underwent fissurectomy and anoplasty with V-Y cutaneous flap *** patients were divided into two g.oups:Those in g.oup I underwent surg.ry alone,and those in g.oup II underwent surg.ry and a botulinum toxin injection directly into the *** were followed up for at least 2 *** g.als were to achieve complete healing.of the patient and to assess the FI and recurrence rate along.with manometry *** The intensity and duration of post-defecatory pain decreased sig.ificantly in both g.oups of patients starting.with the first defecation,and this reduction was hig.er in g.oup *** days after surg.ry,we achieved complete wound healing.in all the patients in g.oup II but only in 80%of the patients in g.oup I(Pg.oup,and both healed with conservative *** recorded one temporary and low-g.ade postoperative case of“de novo”*** parameters reverted to the normal rang. earlier for g.oup II *** The injection of botulinum toxin A in association with fissurectomy and anoplasty with a V-Y advancement flap improves the results of surg.ry alone in patients affected by CAF with IAS hypertonia.
