The widespread adoption of bead-based multiplexed bioassays requires the ability to easily synthesize encoded microspheres and conjugate analytes of interest to their ***,we present a simple method(MRBLEs 2.0)for the efficient high-throughput generation of microspheres with ratiometric barcode lanthanide encoding(MRBLEs)that bear functional groups for downstream surface *** production in MRBLEs 2.0 relies on the manual mixing of lanthanide/polymer mixtures(each of which comprises a unique spectral code)followed by droplet generation using single-layer,parallel flow-focusing devices and the off-chip batch polymerization of droplets into *** streamline downstream analyte coupling,MRBLEs 2.0 crosslinks copolymers bearing functional groups on the bead surface during bead *** the MRBLEs 2.0 pipeline,we generate monodisperse MRBLEs containing 48 distinct well-resolved spectral codes with high throughput(>150,000/min and can be boosted to 450,000/min).We further demonstrate the efficient conjugation of oligonucleotides and entire proteins to carboxyl MRBLEs and of biotin to amino ***,we show that MRBLEs can also be magnetized via the simultaneous incorporation of magnetic nanoparticles with only a minor decrease in the potential code *** the advantages of dramatically simplified device fabrication,elimination of the need for custom-made equipment,and the ability to produce spectrally and magnetically encoded beads with direct surface functionalization with high throughput,MRBLEs 2.0 can be directly applied by many labs towards a wide variety of downstream assays,from basic biology to diagnostics and other translational research.

Estrogens and artificial progestins used in hormone replacement therapy increase breast cancer risk. This seems to bedue to a promoting and not initiating effect. A synergic effect of estradiol and hyperinsulinism has been shown. Insulinplays a role in the increase of breast cancer risk when associated with android obesity, sedentariness, type II diabetes,and high glycemic index food, alcohol and trans fatty acids intake. Natural menopause induces insulin resistance anddoes not induce a risk decrease. The role of insulin gives a new outlook on the influence of HRT in breast cancer promotion:estradiol alone, which improves insulin-sensitivity, does not increase breast cancer risk. Artificial progestinsassociated with estrogens increase the risk, whereas estrogens associated with progesterone do not. This could be dueto the fact that artificial progestins increase insulin resistance, whereas natural progesterone does not. Adipose tissue,which is an endocrine gland, is insulin dependant. Breast cancer and its seriousness are correlated to adipocytokincirculating levels such as resistin, leptin, interleukin 1, adipocyte fatty acid-binding protein, and are inversely correlatedto the level of adiponectin. Insulin could play a synergic role with sexual steroids by a direct effect and by increasingadipose tissue secretions.

Aim: This study aimed to explore the potential of detecting hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC)-associated DNA markers, TP53249T mutations and aberrant methylation of RASSF1A and GSTP1 genes, for monitoring HCC recurrence. HCC remains a leading cause of death worldwide, with one of the fastest growing incidence rates in the US. While treatment options are available and new ones emerging, there remains a poor prognosis of this disease mostly due to its late diagnosis and high recurrence rate. Although there are no specific guidelines addressing how HCC recurrence should be monitored, recurrence is usually monitored by serum-alpha fetal protein and imaging methods such as magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). However, early detection of recurrent HCC remains limited, particularly at the site of treated lesion. Methods: Here, the authors followed 10 patients that were treated for a primary HCC, and monitored for months or years later. At these follow-up visits, urine was collected and tested retrospectively for 3 DNA biomarkers that associate with HCC development. Results:This 10-patient study compared detection of urine DNA markers with MRI for monitoring HCC recurrence. Five patients were confirmed by MRI for recurrence, and all 5 had detectable DNA biomarkers up to 9 months before recurrence confirmation by MRI. Conclusion:Overall, this suggests that detection of HCC-associated DNA markers in urine could provide a promising tool to complement detection of recurrent HCC by imaging.

The Rare Isotope Accelerator complex for ONline experiments(RAON) is a new radioactive ion beam accelerator facility under construction in Korea. The large acceptance multi-purpose spectrometer(LAMPS) is one of the experimental devices for nuclear physics at RAON. It focuses on the nuclear symmetry energy at supra-saturation densities. The LAMPS Collaboration has developed and constructed various detector elements, including a time projection chamber(TPC) and a forward neutron detector array. From the positron beam test, the drift velocity of the secondary electrons in the TPC is 5:3±0:2 cm/ls with P10 gas mixture, and the position resolution for pads with dimensions of 4×15 mm^2 is in the range of$ 0.6–0.8 mm, depending on the beam position. From the neutron beam test, the energy resolution of the prototype neutron detector module is determined to be 3.4%, and theposition resolution is estimated to be better than 5.28 *** present, the construction of the LAMPS neutron detector system is in progress.

CRUST AND UPPER STRUCTURE OF QINGHAI-TIBET PLATEAU AND ITS ADJACENT REGIONS FROM SURFACE WAVEFORM INVERSION

In this paper,218 long period Rayleigh wave records from 7 seismic station of CDSN are *** applied a partitioned waveform inversion to these data in order to construct a 3\|D model of shear velocity down to 400km depth in the crust and upper mantle of Qinghai\|Tibet plateau and Its Adjacent Regions (22°～44°N,70°～110°E).The first step of the waveform inversion used involved the matching of the waveforms of fundamental and highermost Ravleigh waves with waveforms synthesized from stratified models;in the second stage,the 3\|D model was constructed by solve linear constrains equation. The major structural features inferred from the surface waveform inversions can be summarized as follows:(1) There is a great contrast between surface waveform through Qinghai—Thibet plateau and the *** frequency of the former is lower than the latter, which indicate the crust depth of Qinghai—Tibet plateau is deeper than the others. In addition,the amplitude of about 30s period and 50s period is lower than both sides,which implied these exist lower velocity layer at about 25km depth and about 50km depth in Qinghai—Tibet plateau *** former is common,the latter was argued because resolution of most method can not prove it.

Objectives. - To compare the pre- existing risk profiles for breast or endometrial cancer of menopaused women receiving tibolone or another hormone replacement therapy in France, with a view to examining the possibility of biases of selection of patients and of detection of these cancers in the Million Women Study. Patients and methods. - Nationwide survey conducted in France among a representative sample of 153 gynaecologists. The particulars of the last two consulting menopaused women treated with tibolone (N=306) and of the last two treated with a classical estrogen- progestogen therapy (N=306) were collated then analysed. Results. - Compared to those treated with a classical estrogen- progestogen therapy, more women receiving tibolone were aged 60 years or over (40 vs 31% ; P < 0.01)- . More of them had risk factors for breast cancer (history of mastodynia or mastopathy, elevated mammographic breast density) (6 vs 50% ; P < 0.01). More of them had a history of uterine investigation or exploration or of irregular bleeding (61 vs 53% of women with a history of irregular bleeding; P < 0.05). Overall, 84% of women treated with tibolone had at least one risk factor for breast or endometrial cancer vs 75% of those receiving a classical estrogen-progestogen therapy (P < 0.01). Discussion and conclusion. - Owing to its specific properties, tibolone is generally prescribed to women with a higher risk profile for breast or endometrial cancer than those receiving a classical estrogen- progestogen therapy, which may entail patient selection and cancer detection biases in non- randomised, open- label, observational studies.

目的:观察自动弹力线痔疮套扎术(RPH术)联合针灸疗法治疗脾虚气陷型内痔的临床效果。方法:按患者住院时间先后,选取90例符合纳入标准的痔患者,并按随机数字表法将其分为观察组和对照组,每组各45例,对照组仅予以RPH手术治疗及术后常规处理,观察组在对照组基础上联合针灸治疗,观察两组术后疗效的差异。结果:观察组术后肛门坠胀评分、疼痛评分及排便困难评分均低于对照组,在减轻痔术后并发症方面效果更佳,同时,观察组能有效缩短住院时间,加速套扎线脱落,效果优于对照组,两组差别均具有统计学意义(P<0.05)。结论:RPH术联合针灸疗法能有效缓解痔术后肛门坠胀、疼痛等症状,减少术后排便困难的发生率,加速套扎线脱落,缩短住院时间,具有较好的临床应用前景。
