A two-phase multiobjective optimization for benchmarking and evaluating service quality in banks

Purpose–Service quality is an evaluation of how well a delivered service meets customers’*** purpose of this paper is to provide a reliable scale of measurement for service quality in ***/methodology/approach–The SERVQUAL model was adopted based on a Banking Service Quality(BSQ)model and a two-phase multiobjective optimization model was designed.A structured questionnaire with five-point Likert scale was administered with a 93 percent response rate of 270 sample size.A total of 22 variables were considered based on the BSQ model and the significance of these variables to customers’satisfaction were *** analysis was used to extract the most influential factors on the measure of service quality and four factors were selected namely:they deliver when promised,precision on account statements,queues that move rapidly and sufficient number of ATMs per *** order to determine the reliability of the multiple Likert questions in the survey,Cronbach’sαwas used indicating a scale reliability of ***,multiple regression analysis was carried out on the selected factors to design an objective function for the design and evaluation of service quality *** model design used for benchmarking was done using multiobjective genetic algorithm in ***,the model evaluation was done in a java interface using multiobjective particle swamp ***–The evaluation results validated the designed model and showed that the factors they deliver when promised and queues that move rapidly are a more reliable scale of measurement for customer’s satisfaction than the factors precision on account statements and sufficient number of ATMs per *** limitations/implications–The implication of the results is that effectiveness and assurance combined with access is a more significant factor for measuring customers’satisfaction than tangibles based on the BSQ ***/value–The introduction of a two-phase o

Floods are among the most frequently occurring natural hazards in Malawi,often with public health *** mixed methods study assessed the capacity for and implementation status of the disaster risk management(DRM)strategy for the health sector in Malawi,using flooding in the Nsanje District as a *** were collected using desk review and a workshop methodology involving key officials from government ministries,national and international development partners,and the *** results show that Malawi had recently strengthened its DRM institutional frameworks,with a pronounced policy shift from reactive to proactive management of *** sector personnel and structures were key contributors in the design and implementation of DRM activities at all *** partners played a significant role in strengthening DRM coordination and implementation *** of funding and the limited availability,and often fragmented nature,of vulnerability and risk assessment data were identified as key *** human resource capacity and inadequate planning processes at district level impeded full implementation of DRM *** findings call for community-level interventions for improved coordination,planning,and human resource capacity to strengthen community disaster resilience and improve public *** approach used in this study can serve as a model framework for other districts in Malawi,as well as in other low-and middle-income countries in the context of Sendai Framework implementation.

This paper explores the deployment of metaphors in the BBC Yoruba-medium football results of the English Premier League,examining how cultural metaphorical choices shape meaning in online sport *** a discourse analysis of Yoruba-medium football results,the study reveals how metaphors drawn from Yoruba cultural milieu and everyday life are used to create vivid descriptions of game events,players,and *** study relies on Lakoff’s conceptual metaphor theory,complemented by Kress and van Leeuwen’s social semiotic approach to *** reveal that metaphors describe game events,teams,and players,thus,framing the contest in unique and evocative manners,drawing on cultural and shared knowledge to shape the understanding of the game in an adversarial *** study,therefore,argues that metaphors are deployed to convey deeper cultural meanings and values,and add creativity to match *** findings point to the role of language and culture in shaping the experiences of football fandom in sports and media.

Evaluation of reduction roasting and magnetic separation for upgrading Mn/Fe ratio of fine ferromanganese

Low grade ferromanganese tailing was subjected to different mineralogical techniques,reduction roasting and magnetic separation to establish whether commercially acceptable manganese qualities and high Mn/Fe ratio could be obtained,and also to determine the best processing route for benefciating this *** main manganese mineral within the feed sample is birnessite,with minor amounts of pyrolusite and *** by assay analysis conducted presented a result with a yield of about 35.75%and Mn grade of 27.63% to coarse(à3.35+1 mm)and yield of 20.24% and Mn grade of 27.71% to(à1.18+0.50 mm)***-stage high induced magnetic separations at 16,000 and 11,000 G produces Mn grades with similar grade to that obtained from the ferromanganese feed *** roasting followed by magnetic separation onà1.18+0.50 mm at 1000 G recovered 72.31% Mn with a grade of 58.44% Mn,2.52% Fe and 3.29% Si at Mn/Fe ratio of *** study reveals the influence of roasting in converting the hematite and goethite to magnetite and the response of the roasted fraction to magnetic separation.

Newspaper political cartoons,known for their satirical nature,employ semiotic and linguistic techniques to comment on or criticise political leaders and events *** previous studies on Nigerian newspaper political cartoons have focused on ideological issues and discourse frames,little attention has been given to the linguistic investigation of semiotic humour techniques in these *** study,therefore,investigates these humour techniques,utilising Salvatore Attardo and Victor Raskin’s General Theory of Verbal Humour(GTVH)as the framework within a descriptive *** newspapers-Punch,The Guardian,and Daily Trust-were purposively selected for their regular publication of cartoons,criticising Nigeria’s *** political cartoons were purposively selected for their semiotic and humorous depictions of Nigeria’s politics,and subjected to linguistic *** semiotic humour techniques were identified in the cartoons:exaggeration,humorous metaphor,distortion of formulaic expressions,neologism,innovative collocation,and *** techniques were employed to satirise three governance issues in Nigeria-misgovernance,corruption and insecurity.

The use of directives in communicating the nature of the pandemic and reference to social experiences were promoted using images on social media *** images or memes are used to create awareness and reinforce the criteria for safety during the *** studies on internet memes have concentrated on humor generation,speaker-hearer shared knowledge,neologism,and multimodality among others,with insufficient attention paid to the use of directives and references in such coronavirus-motivated *** paper,therefore,examines how directives and references are employed in conveying expected social responsibilities through coronavirus-motivated internet memes in Nigeria and other socio-cultural *** data,one hundred coronavirus-motivated memes were purposively selected from Facebook,and eight representative memes were subjected to pragmatic analysis using aspects of Jacob Mey’s(***:An introduction,2nd ***:Blackwell Publishing)pragmatic acts theory to unearth insights from *** paper observes that the various spheres of life that are relatable to an online audience help to express what the pandemic is about and enhance the meaning of the pandemic with the context of the use of the memes,giving clearer perspectives on the *** and references are useful tools for conveying social responsibilities to online audience.

Changes of water chemistry from rainfall to stream flow in Obagbile Catchment, Southwest Nigeria

Water chemistry changes when it flows through different *** study aims to characterize the differences of water(including rainwater,overland flow,soil water,groundwater,and stream water)chemistry of five kinds of water in Obagbile Catchment in Southwest Nigeria,determine the changes in water chemistry that occur as the water moves from one pathway to another,and identify the factors responsible for the water chemistry *** do these,we collected 50 water samples from 10 heavy storms that received equal to or more than 10 mm of rain within an hour to test the changes of water chemical properties across various pathways in this *** results show that overland flow had the highest p H and electrical conductivity(EC)and rainwater had the lowest values of the two ***^(2+),Mg^(2+),Cl^(ˉ),and HCOO^(ˉ) were found to have their highest concentrations in stream water;meanwhile,NO_(3)^(–),NH_(4)^(+),and SO_(4)^(2–) were found to have almost the same low concentrations in all the water samples.K+was only dominant in stream water;while dissolved organic carbon(DOC)was lowest in rainwater,same in overland flow,soil water,and groundwater samples,and highest in stream *** component analysis(PCA)showed that for all the water samples from different pathways,two factors mainly accounted for the total *** two factors were related to the crustal and anthropogenic sources in rainwater,suggesting that the high loadings of major cations(e.g.,Ca^(2+) and Mg^(2+)) in rainwater samples are *** PCA for the overland flow and soil water showed strong correlations among pH,EC,and the concentrations of Na^(+),Mg^(2+),HCOO^(-),and CH_(3)COO^(-),while the high loadings of all the parameters and the strong correlations among each other were evident in the stream *** conclusion,the chemical constituents found in water are also the components of pathways through which the water *** major factors responsible for the change in the
