Multiple Phase Change Materials for Performance Enhancement of a Solar Dryer with Double Pass Collector

The fluctuation in drying temperature influences the food products’quality and drying time significantly during the drying process using an indirect solar *** of the effective methods to reduce these variations in the temperature is based on thermal storage materials to control the drying *** experimental investigation is presented in this study to evaluate the performance of an indirect solar dryer with air double pass using multiple phase change materials(PCM)as thermal storage *** PCMs with different melting points are used to store the available heat energy during peak sunshine periods and reduce the drying temperature *** tests on a food product sample are conducted in three cases,the first was without PCMs using natural *** second and third cases are based on forced convection with and without using multiple PCMs under Baghdad city *** results showed that;approximately a steady temperature of hot drying air was obtained during relatively low ambient temperatures when the dryer was incorporated with multiple *** drying time of the product sample for the natural,forced convection without PCMs and forced with PCMs was 87,72 and 47 h,*** higher performance of the dryer was for the forced convection with *** reduction percentage in drying time was about 17.2%and 46%for the forced convection without and with PCMs respectively compared with natural *** average drying rate for the natural,forced without PCMs and forced convection with PCMs was 0.0093,0.0135 and 0.0172 kg/h,*** enhancement in thermal efficiency of the solar collector and drying chamber with multiple PCMs was 43%and 25.5%,respectively,compared with a typical solar dryer.

The aim of this paper is to investigate an adaptive sensorless direct voltage control(DVC)strategy for the stand-alone ship shaft brushless doubly-fed induction generators(BDFIGs).The proposed new rotor position observer using the space vector flux relations of BDFIG may achieve the desired voltage control of the power winding(PW)in terms of magnitude and frequency,without any speed/position *** proposed algorithm does not require any additional observers for obtaining the generator *** proposed technique can directly achieve the desired DVC based on the estimated rotor position,which may reduce the overall system *** stability analysis of the proposed observer is investigated and confirmed with the concept of quadratic Lyapunov function and using the multi-model *** addition,the sensitivity analysis of the presented method is confirmed under different issues of parameter *** results from both simulation and experiments are realized with a prototype wound-rotor BDFIG,which demonstrate the capability and efficacy of the proposed sensorless DVC strategy with good transient behavior under different operating ***,the analysis confirms the robustness of the proposed observer via the machine parameter changes.

Serotonin is one of the significant signaling molecules used by several neural systems in the gut and brain. This study aimed to develop a novel and potent tracer for targeting, detecting, and imaging serotonin receptors(5-HTRs), which is a promising tool in the determination of the receptor’s function and relationship with the diseases related to serotonin and its receptor dysfunction. Serotonin was effectively labeled via a direct electrophilic substitutional reaction using an oxidizing agent such as iodogen with 125I in a neutral medium, and 125I-serotonin was achieved with a maximum labeling yield of 91 ± 0.63% with in vitro stability up to 24 h. Molecular modeling was conducted to signify 125I-serotonin structure and confirm that the radiolabeling process did not affect serotonin binding ability to its receptors. Biodistribution studies show that the maximum gastro intestinal tract uptake of 125I-serotonin was 17.8 ± 0.93% ID/organ after 30 min postinjection and the tracer’s ability to pass the blood–brain barrier. Thus, 125I-serotonin is a promising single photon emission computed tomography tracer in the detection of 5 HTRs.

This report describes in vitro micropropagation of Boscia senegalensis,so-called famine foods,that helped the people in Darfur and Kordofan,Sudan survive during the 1984-1985 *** types of explants prepared from green mature zygotic embryos were cultured on Murashige and Skoog (MS) medium augmented with 1-5 mg/L 6-benzyladenine (BA).The highest number of shoots per explant (14.3±0.9) was achieved on MS medium supplemented with 3 mg/L BA,while the highest shoot length [(3.5±0.4) cm] was obtained with 1 mg/L *** shoot cluster,when subcultured to its same medium,significantly increased the rate of shoot multiplication by the end of the third *** maximum mean number of shoots per explant (86.5±3.6) was produced after three multiplication cycles on 3 mg/L BA-supplemented *** vitro induced shoots were excised and rooted on half strength MS medium fortified with 0.25 mg/L indole-3-butyric acid (IBA) to obtain complete ***-regenerated plantlets obtained in vitro for the first time,were hardened and 95% survived under greenhouse conditions.

Professional identity, wellness, and future hope among nurse interns in Egypt

Sonographic gallbladder wall thickness measurement and the prediction of esophageal varices among cirrhotics

Acute variceal bleeding in patients with liver cirrhosis and portal hypertension(PHT) is the most serious emergency complication among those patients and could have catastrophic outcomes if not timely managed. Early screening by esophago-gastro-duodenoscopy(EGD) for the presence of esophageal varices(EVs) is currently recommended by the practice guidelines for all cirrhotic patients. Meanwhile, EGD is not readily accepted or preferred by many patients. The literature is rich in studies to investigate and validate non-invasive markers of EVs prediction aiming at reducing the unneeded endoscopic procedures. Gallbladder(GB) wall thickness(GBWT) measurement has been found promising in many published research articles. We aim to highlight the validity of sonographic GBWT measurement in the prediction of EVs based on the available evidence. We searched databases including Cochrane library, Pub Med, Web of Science and many others for relevant articles. GBWT is associated with the presence of EVs in cirrhotic patients with PHT of different etiologies. The cut-off of GBWT that can predict the presence of EVs varied in the literature and ranges from 3.1 mm to 4.35 mm with variable sensitivities of 46%-90.9% and lower cutoffs in viral cirrhosis compared to non-viral, however GBWT > 4 mm in many studies is associated with acceptable sensitivity up to 90%. Furthermore, a relation was also noticed with the degree of varices and portal hypertensive *** cirrhotics, GBWT > 3.5 mm predicts the presence of advanced(grade Ⅲ-Ⅳ) EVs with a sensitivity of 45%, the sensitivity increased to 92% when a cut-off ≥ 3.95 mm was used in another cohort. Analysis of these results should carefully be revised in the context of ascites, hypoalbuminemia and other intrinsic GB diseases among cirrhotic patients. The sensitivity for prediction of EVs improved upon combining GBWT measurement with other non-invasive predictors, e.g., platelets/GBWT.

Epidemiological Descriptive Analysis of Disease Outbreaks in 2019 in Sudan

Background: Sudan has often faced outbreaks of malaria, the life-threatening waterborne disease. In 2019, the country experienced an outbreak of six different infectious diseases, i.e., cholera, chikungunya, dengue fever, diphtheria, malaria, and Rift Valley fever. Objectives: The aim of this study was to perform an epidemiological descriptive analysis of data of these disease outbreaks to determine the spatial and temporal patterns of outbreaks and to estimate the magnitude of the diseases. Methods: The data consisted of the number of cases and deaths due to disease outbreaks of cholera, chikungunya, dengue fever, diphtheria, malaria, and Rift Valley fever. We analyzed the reports of an investigation conducted by the World Health Organization and the Federal Ministry of Health, Sudan. Descriptive statistics and case fatality rate (CFR) were used in this study. Results: The frequency of disease occurrence was as follows: cholera (344 cases), chikungunya (308 cases), dengue fever (4236 cases), diphtheria (105 cases), malaria (5,188,135 cases) and River Valley fever (567 cases). The CFRs for cholera, chikungunya, are diphtheria were 4.3%, 2.05%, and 9.5%, respectively. The mortality rate of malaria was 0.0013. The states most affected by outbreaks of these diseases in Sudan were the western states. Women were at a higher risk for all diseases, except River Valley fever. Conclusions: This study highlights the patterns of the outbreak of these diseases in Sudan and provides a basis for future scientific research.

钛及其合金Ti6Al4V是牙科和骨科植入物中最常用的合金,具有优异的机械性能和生物相容性,但是仍存在许多问题,如它们的弹性模量显著高于骨骼,可能导致植入物周围的应力屏蔽效应和骨质流失;合金中铝和钒释放可引起细胞毒性和过敏反应,而且这些材料的抗菌活性不足以预防植入物周围感染。为解决抗菌问题,研究通常采用表面修饰添加铜和银等抗菌元素或使用具有光敏活性的材料来改善植入物的抗菌活性,但这些技术存在细胞毒性、短期效应、不稳定性和高成本等缺点。为克服这些缺点,本研究采用等离子烧结技术制备了新合金Zr-30Ta和Zr-25Ta-5Ti,它们由对人体友好、无毒、不引起过敏反应的锆、钽和钛元素组成,具有良好的生物相容性,其弹性模量显著低于Ti及其合金(Zr-30Ta为99GPa,Zr-25Ta-5Ti为73GPa)。前期研究已证实了它们具有良好的机械性能和成骨活性。研究证实细菌直接与材料表面相互作用,但材料的表面性能因素,如元素组成、氧化膜形成、表面粗糙度、接触角和表面电荷等如何影响细菌附着和生长目前尚不清楚。因此本研究选择与种植体周围感染有关的变形链球菌和牙龈卟啉单胞菌,探索Zr-30Ta和Zr-25Ta-5Ti材料的抗菌活性和机制。1.材料与方法1.1.材料选择:前期对Zr-Ta合金研究发现Zr-30Ta合金具有最佳的机械性能和生物相容性,又发现向合金中添加钛后,Zr-25Ta-5Ti合金的机械性能显著提高,弹性模量降低。还发现这两种合金都具有优异的生物相容性和成骨活性。因此,选择Zr-30Ta和Zr-25Ta-5Ti合金进行抗菌评估。1.2.材料制备:使用放电等离子烧结粉末冶金技术制备Zr-30Ta和Zr-25Ta-5Ti合金样品,烧结过程在等离子烧结系统中进行,温度/压力为1600°C/40MPa。在本研究中,所用样品尺寸为10mm×10mm×2 mm,用同样参数制备的工业纯钛(CP-Ti)作为对照组。1.3.材料性能评估:1.3.1.材料显微结构评估:使用扫描电子显微镜在次级电子和背散射模式下分析Zr-30Ta和Zr-25Ta-5Ti合金表面形貌和相组成。采用能量色散谱(EDS)定量分析合金表面元素分布。1.3.2.电化学腐蚀评估:实验所用样品尺寸为6 mm×6 mm×6mm,利用三电极系统中的电化学工作站对其进行测试(图2-2)。为稳定其表面电位,将样品浸于Fusayama人工唾液(腐蚀液)中5小时后进行测试,采用电位动力学极化测试评估Zr-30Ta和Zr-25Ta-5Ti合金的抗腐蚀性,以商业纯钛作为对照组。使用扫描电子显微镜评估腐蚀后的表面形貌,并采用EDS分析确定元素组成以评估腐蚀液对合金表面的影响。1.3.3.表面粗糙度评估:使用Dektak XT探针式轮廓仪评估纳米级粗糙度。在实验之前,样品经过抛光、清洁和干燥处理,测量长度为3 mm。1.3.4.表面润湿性评价:使用DSA100滴形分析仪,通过静置法测量静态接触角以评价表面润湿性。于室温(22℃)和大气压下,将一滴水(d HO)置于样品表面,5秒后记录液滴形态。1.3.5.表面电荷评价:使用Surpass电化学分析仪,采用p H扫描法测量Zeta电位。实验所用样品尺寸为20 mm×10 mm×1 mm,测试溶液为0.001-M的氯化钾(KCl)电解质溶液,测试液的p H值在2.8-8.2之间,利用0.05-M的盐酸(HCl)和0.05 M的氢氧化钠(Na OH)调控。1.4.抗菌评价:评估Zr-30Ta和Zr-25Ta-5Ti样品对与口腔种植体周围感染相关细菌--变形链球菌、牙龈卟啉单胞菌的抗菌活性,CP-Ti为对照。细菌浓度均为1×10 CFU/孔。1.4.1.抑菌圈法:采用Kirby-Bauer抑菌圈试验改进法评估样品对细菌生长的影响。将细菌接种在含样品的琼脂平板上,标准条件下培养1天(变形链球菌)或7天(牙龈卟啉单胞菌),在所设时间内测量样品周围所形成的抑菌区。1.4.2.平板计数法:采用平板计数法评估样品对细菌附着和存活的影响。首先将细菌与样品在脑心浸液肉汤(Brain heart infusion broth(BHI))培养基中标准条件下孵育1天和3天,然后将样品上细菌分离至溶液中,10倍稀释后接种于琼脂平板上。根据中国标准GB/T4789.2-2010计数琼脂平板上的细菌菌落数,并计算Zr-30Ta和Zr-25Ta-5Ti样品的抗菌率(R),以CP-Ti为对照。1.4.3.活死染色法:采用活死染色法直接观察样品对细菌存活的影响。将细菌与样品在BHI液培养基中孵育1天和3天,将细菌溶液废弃后,PBS洗涤样品,并根据生产商说明使用细菌活力检测试剂盒染色。SYTO9将活细菌染成绿色,碘化丙啶(PI)将死亡细菌染成红色。去除多余染料后,使用倒置荧光显微镜观察染色样品。

Evaluation of Actual Evapotranspiration and Crop Coefficient in Carrot by Remote Sensing Methodology Using Drainage and River Water to Overcome Reduced Water Availability

Searching for alternative methods for traditional irrigation is World trend at days due to a reduction in water and increased of drought due to climate changes therefore farmers need use modern methods of scheduling water and minimizing water losses while also increasing yield. To meet the future increasing demands water and food there is a need to utilize alternative methods to reduce evaporation, transpiration and deep percolation of water. Any countries use recycled water (drain and sewage) and desalination water from the sea or drains to irrigate crops plus computing actual crop evapotranspiration (ETc) so as to calculate the amount of water to apply to a crop. The paper aims to assess the actual evaporation and evaporation coefficient of carrots, by planting carrots in a field and the crop was exposed to several sources of water (DW and RW) and comparing ETc, Kc and production among plots of three sites (A, B and C). The study used two types of irrigation water (drain water (DW) and river water (RW)). The results were to monthly rate and accumulated actual evapotranspiration to C (irrigation by RW only) more than A (67% RW and 33% DW) and B (17% RW and 83% DW) via 7% and 58%, respectively. The yield to C more than A and B by 17% and 75%, respectively. In conclusion the use of DW can cause a reduction in crop consumptive of carrot crops also causes a reduction in yield, crop length, root length, root size, canopy of crop, number of leaves and biomass of the plant therefore, the drainage water needs to treated before irrigating crops And making use of it to irrigate the fields and fill the shortfall in the amount of water from the river. The drain water helped on filling the water shortage due to climate changes and giving production of carrot crop but less than river water.

Enhanced Thermal Stability of Promising Nano-Porous Silicon Powder

A direct synthesis method is introduced to prepare nano-porous silicon-nickel nanocomposite (nPS/Ni) powder for thermal isolation applications. In this paper, we study the thermal stability of nanocomposites consisting of nanoparticles metal incorporated into the pores of a porous silicon by a very simple method. The nickel element is chemically deposited whereas the nanoparticles are precipitated on the pore surfaces. The (nPS) and (nPS/Ni) nano-materials are thermally measured under nitrogen at temperatures of 40℃ - 1000℃, noticeable, demonstrating better thermal stability of (nPS/Ni) until 900℃ than in the case of (nPS) at 600℃. Then, the improving of the thermal stability of the nPS powder is facilitated using it in many applications of the thermal insulation process.
