To fill the continuous needs for faster processing elements with less power consumption causes large pressure on the complementary metal oxide semiconductor(CMOS)technology *** scaling scenario is not an option nowadays and other technologies need to be *** quantum-dot cellular automata(QCA)technology is one of the important emerging nanotechnologies that have attracted much researchers’attention in recent *** technology has many interesting features,such as high speed,low power consumption,and small *** features make it an appropriate alternative to the CMOS *** paper suggests three novel structures of XNOR gates in the QCA *** presented structures do not follow the conventional approaches to the logic gates design but depend on the inherent capabilities of the new *** proposed structures are used as the main building blocks for a single-bit *** resulted circuits are simulated for the verification purpose and then compared with existing counterparts in the *** comparison results are encouraging to append the proposed structures to the library of QCA gates.

Characteristics and outcome of traumatic chest injury patients visited a specialized hospital in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia: A one-year retrospective study

Purpose: Injury continues to be an important cause of morbidity and mortality in both developed and developing countries. Globally, it is responsible for approximately 5.8 million deaths per year and 91% of these deaths occur in developing countries. Road traffic collision, suicides and homicides are the leading cause of traumatic deaths. Despite the fact that traumatic chest injury is being responsible for 10% of all trauma-related hospital admissions and 25% of trauma-related deaths across the world including in Ethiopia, only few published studies showed the burden of traumatic chest injury in Ethiopia. So, this study aims at assessing the characteristics and outcome of traumatic chest injury patients visited Tikur Anbesa Specialized Hospital (TASH) over one year ***: A single center based retrospective study was done. We collected data from patients’ records to assess characteristics and outcome of traumatic chest injury at TASH over one year period. All patients diagnosed with traumatic chest injury and received treatment at the hospital from January 1 to December 31, 2016 regardless of its types and severity levels were included in the study. Patients with incomplete medical records for at least 20% of the study variables and without detailed medical history, or patients died before receiving any health care were excluded from the study. The collected data were cleaned and entered into Epidata version 3.1 and exported to SPSS Version 21.0 for analysis. Bivariate and multivariate logistic regression models were used to examine factors associated with outcome of trau- matic chest injury ***: A total of 192 chest injury patients were included in the study and about one-fourth of chest injury victims were died during treatment period in TASH. Road traffic collision (RTC) was the leading cause of morbidity and mortality among traumatic chest injury victims. The trend of digital information transformation has become a topic of *** data are threatening;thus,protecting such data from attackers is considered an essential ***,a new methodology for data concealing has been suggested by researchers called coverless *** steganography can be accomplished either by building an image database to match its image subblocks with the secret message to obtain the stego image or by generating an *** paper proposes a coverless image steganography system based on pure image generation using secret message bits with a capacity higher than the other traditional *** system uses the secret message to generate the stego image in the form of one of the Intelligence Quotient(IQ)games,the ***,a full grid is generated with several specific rows and columns determined from the number of bits of the secret ***,these bits are fed to the full grid to form the maze game stego ***,the generated maze game stego image is sent to the *** experimental results,using the Bit Error Rate(BER),were conducted,and confirmed the strength of this system represented by a high capacity,perfect performance,robustness,and stronger hiding system compared with existing coverless steganography systems.

This study aimed at optimizing impact toughness and abrasion wear resistance of 15%Cr-2%Mo hypereutectic abrasion-resistant white irons. The effects of dynamic solidification, niobium addition, combined action of them and heat treatment have been investigated. Investigations were performed by means of the image analyzer, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy-dispersive spectrometry (EDS) and X-ray diffraction. Impact toughness and abrasion wear resistance tests were conducted. Fracture and worn surfaces were studied. Results indicated that microstructural control during solidifciation is the most valuable tool to attain the optimum combination between impact toughness and wear resistance in hypereutectic iron. Combined action of Nb addition and dynamic solidifciation improves impact toughness and wear resistance even more than the action of each individual factor. In the as-cast condition, impact toughness and abrasion resistance were increased after dynamic solidification compared to statically solidified one by 71.4% and 10%, respectively. This enhancement was increased to 114.3 % and 28.8 % by adding 2% Nb. Lower tempering temperature of 260°C exhibits better impact and abrasion resistance than the sub-critical tempering temperature of 500°C.

Current image steganography methods are working by assigning an image as a cover file then embed the payload within it by modifying its pixels,creating the stego ***,the left traces that are caused by these modifications will make steganalysis algorithms easily detect the hidden payload.A coverless data hiding concept is proposed to solve this *** does not mean that cover is not required,or the payload can be transmitted without a ***,the payload is embedded by cover generation or a secret message mapping between the cover file and the *** this paper,a new coverless image steganography method has been proposed based on the jigsaw puzzle image generation driven by a secret ***,the image is divided into equal rows then further divided into equal columns,creating blocks(i.e.,sub-images).Then,according to secret message bits and a proposed mapping function,each block will have tabs/blanks to get the shape of a puzzle piece creating a fully shaped jigsaw puzzle *** that,the generated jigsaw puzzle image is sent to the *** results and analysis show a good performance in the hiding capacity,security,and robustness compared with existing coverless image steganography methods.

Design Optimization for Generating a High Static Magnetic Field

This paper details the creation of a device capable of generating a powerful and consistent static magnetic field. This apparatus serves the purpose of quantifying the magnetostrictive strain found in materials like annealed cobalt ferrite and Terfenol-D, specifically those shaped as cylindrical rods. In our investigation, the use of static magnetic fields proves most advantageous. This choice is made to mitigate the generation of eddy currents, which would inevitably occur if the magnetic field intensity were varied. The fundamental idea behind this design involves employing a C-shaped iron core constructed from low-carbon mild steel. On this core, three coils are mounted, each capable of producing one-third of the required 9000 Oersted (Oe) magnetic field strength. The test specimen is situated within the “jaws” of the C-shaped core, thus completing the magnetic circuit. To manage the heat generated by each coil, a cooling system consisting of copper tubes is employed. These tubes facilitate the flow of air to dissipate the heat. To model and predict the magnetic field strength produced by the coils, finite element analysis (FEMM) software is utilized, and the results align closely with the anticipated outcomes. This design effectively generates a robust and unchanging magnetic field measuring a stable 9000 Oe in total. Consequently, this equipment finds utility in characterizing the magnetic properties of specific materials.

The acaricidal activities of fourteen essential oils and fourteen of their major monoterpenoids were tested against house dust mites Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus. Five concentrations were used over two different time intervals 24 and 48 h under laboratory conditions. In general, it was noticed that the acaricidal effect based on LC50 of either essential oils or monoterpenoids against the mite was time dependant. The LC50 values were decreased by increasing of exposure time. Clove, matrecary, chenopodium, rosemary, eucalyptus and caraway oils were shown to have high activity. As for the monoterpenoids, cinnamaldehyde and chlorothymol were found to be the most effective followed by citronellol. This study suggests the use of the essential oils and their major constituents as ecofriendly biodegradable agents for the control of house dust mite, D. pteronyssinus.
