Introduction: The parotid tumors are benign or malignant, primary or secondary neoformations developed at the expense of the parotid gland. The aim of the present study was to describe the indications and results of parotidectomies in the ENT department of the Idrissa Pouye General Hospital in Dakar. Patients & Methods: We conducted a retrospective study between January 1, 2004 and December 31, 2012, including all patients who had been consulted for a parotid tumor with or without histological evidence collected in the otolaryngology and anatomy-pathology department of the Idrissa Pouye General Hospital in Dakar. Results: We collected 31 patient files. The mean age was 47.45 years, with extremes of 16 and 74 years. Females predominated, with a sex ratio of 0.82. Swelling of the parotid region was the main reason for consultation in 100% of cases. Parotidectomy was the most frequently performed procedure, accounting for 41.93%. Benign tumors accounted for 72% of cases, the majority being pleomorphic adenomas (50%). The outcome was favorable in 67.74% of cases. Conclusion: Management of parotid tumors at HOGIP would be improved by informing and educating patients to consult early, and by upgrading the technical platform.

Integrating artificial neural networks and geostatistics for optimum 3D geological block modeling in mineral reserve estimation:A case study

In this research, a method called ANNMG is presented to integrate Artificial Neural Networks and Geostatistics for optimum mineral reserve evaluation. The word ANNMG simply means Artificial Neural Network Model integrated with Geostatiscs, In this procedure, the Artificial Neural Network was trained, tested and validated using assay values obtained from exploratory drillholes. Next, the validated model was used to generalize mineral grades at known and unknown sampled locations inside the drilling region respectively. Finally, the reproduced and generalized assay values were combined and fed to geostatistics in order to develop a geological 3D block model. The regression analysis revealed that the predicted sample grades were in close proximity to the actual sample grades, The generalized grades from the ANNMG show that this process could be used to complement exploration activities thereby reducing drilling requirement. It could also be an effective mineral reserve evaluation method that could oroduce optimum block model for mine design.

The existing study was taken to represent the current information in order to develop a mass-balanced ecosystem model within the resettled maritime boundary area of the bay of Bengal(BoB),Bangladesh from July 2016 to June 2017 through ECOPATH approach covering over 90 000 km2.A total of 19 functional groups were considered representing all trophic levels in the foodweb where estimated trophic interactions between the groups were varied from 1(primary producers and detritus)to 3.45(sharks).The ecotrophic efficiency(EE)of most of the consumers was greater than 0.80;symbolizing a largely exploited ecosystem and high energy transfer from lower to higher trophic ***,the gross efficiency(0.001 8)and transfer efficiency(11.12%)of the whole system symbolizes the“Developing Systems”with somewhat maturity ***’s overhead(64.6)and ascendancy(35.4)also designate the ecosystem’s ***,this study determines that the resettled maritime area of BoB reserves significant backup strength to face stress situations having capacity to rapid restoration to the original states.

The cyclone tracks from 1877 to 2020 were analyzed to detect the spatial and temporal *** tracks were gathered from previously published *** previous articles’tracks were digitized and converted to shape files for analysis in Arc-GIS.A total 126 cyclone tracks were used to detect monthly and seasonal cyclone intensity and spatial *** fluctuations were examined over a 30-year period,which is believed to be the climate of a particular *** cyclones hit the bay of Bengal’s coast starting in May and lasting until *** May and October,the number of cyclones is at its peak(26 nos in each month).From June through September,the number of cyclones *** October and November,the number of cyclones increased *** number of cyclones substantially fell in December,and no cyclones were observed from January through *** 1939 through 1969,the highest number of cyclones(36)was *** the mid-and latetwentieth century,there were a higher number of *** coastal region of Bangladesh suffered the fewest cyclones in history over the recent era(2001–2020).The western shore was particularly vulnerable from 1877 to 1907,and the entire coastal region was dangerous from 1908 to *** the Post-monsoon(October to December)season,the number of cyclones is lower than in the Monsoon period(May to September).In the pre-monsoon season,71 cyclones strike,while in the Monsoon season,53 cyclones strike.

Nasopharyngeal liposarcoma is an extremely rare clinical entity. Less than ten cases have been reported in the literature. It mainly occurs in humans. The non-specificity of the clinical and radiological signs explains the difficulty of the diagnosis confirmed by anatomopathological and immunohistochemical examinations. Its pathogenesis remains obscure and often correlates with genetic abnormalities. Pleomorphic liposarcoma is its rarest subtype, remarkable for its aggressiveness and rapidity of growth. Complete surgical excision remains the treatment of choice. We report a case of liposarcoma whose diagnosis was made during histological examination coupled with immunohistochemistry. .

Introduction: Hearing impairment is the most common sensory deficit at birth. It is a public health problem because of the repercussions on the communication development, on the education and subsequent social integration of the child. The objective of this study was to determine the epidemiological, clinical, audiometric and etiological profiles of child deafness in Casamance, South of Senegal. Materials and Methods: This was a retrospective multicenter study, which extended a period of 7 years from January 1st, 2012 to December 31st, 2019. All children aged between 1 to 18 years old and received during their first ENT consultations at the regional and PEACE hospital in Ziguinchor were included. Results: One hundred and seventy-eight records of children were collected during this period, that is a prevalence of 1.30%. The average age was 9 years old. Conductive hearing loss was found in 68% of patients, followed by reception hearing deafness in 24%. The deafness was acquired in the majority of cases (93%) and the predominant etiology was infectious. However, the cause was unknown in 7.51% of cases. Conclusion: Child deafness is common in Casamance and is most often underdiagnosed. The acquired forms are the most common, hence the importance of early detection after a rigorous family investigation.

The anadromous Hilsa shad(Tenualosa ilisha)fishery is the prime single species fishery of Bangladesh that driven by open access system which was selected for this *** purpose of this study was to assess the MSY(Maximum Sustainable Yield)in order to review the effectivity of the ongoing management policy of this *** this reason,time series maritime or downstream catch-effort data of the bay of Bengal were assembled from the Department of Fisheries,***,CPUE and other population parameters were estimated through Surplus Production Models(SPMs)using computer software packages of CEDA,ASPIC and *** biological reference points of MSY from the best fitted CEDA package was 282,100 t(R^(2)=0.822)for the normal assumptions of the Schaefer and Pella-Tomlinson *** values from the ASPIC packages(324,100 t and 263,500 t;for Fox and Schaefer model)and Schaefer model from TropFishR(345,486t)were larger than the catch in 2017(278,948 t).The values of F ratio(F/FMSY)for all SPMs were found less than 1 and B ratio(B/BMSY)were greater than 1 that clearly indicate the gradual upsurge of the Hilsa *** on the above findings of BRPs,it also proves the effectivity of the current“Hilsa fishery management action plan”by the authorities.
