Enhancing Heat Transfer and Energy Storage Performance of Shell-and-Tube Latent Heat Thermal Energy Storage Unit with Unequal-Length Fins

Previous studies in literatures adequately emphasized that inserting fins into phase change material is among the most promising techniques to augment thermal performance of shell-and-tube latent heat thermal energy storage *** this study,the novel unequal-length fins are designed from the perspective of synergistic benefits of heat transfer and energy storage performance,and the effects of arrangement,number and total length of unequal-length fins are num.r.cally *** show that utilization of fins with ascending length,when short and long fins are located in the inlet and outlet of heat transfer fluid respectively,can further promote the heat transfer and energy storage performance compared with equal length fins,and a maximum 6.17%and 0.43%increment of heat transfer performance and stored energy is achieved in full melting time,*** number of unequal-length fins plays a major role in the energy storage,and 18.95%and 0.91%im.r.vement of heat transfer performance and stored energy is realized when equipped with 2 unequal-length fins.A 21.17%im.r.vement of the heat transfer performance is obtained when the total length of unequal-length fins is 18 *** present study is helpful to make further efforts to enhance heat transfer and energy storage of shell-and-tube latent heat thermal energy storage unit with unequal-length fins.

Effect of rhenium doping is examined in single crystals of moSe2 viz. m.r.0.005Sel.995, m.r.o.o01 Sel.999 and moo.995re0.005Se2, which is grown by using the direct vapor transport （DVT） technique. The grown crystals are structurally characterized by X-ray diffraction, by determining their lattice parameters a and c, and X-ray density. Also, the Hall effect and thermoelectric power （TEP） measurements show that the single crystals exhibit a p-type semiconducting nature. The direct and indirect band gap measurements are also undertaken on these semiconducting materials.

Sulphur mustard [bis(2 chloro ethyl) sulfide] (Sm), a bifunctional alkylating agent has been frequently used as a chemical warfare agent. In the present study, the effects of sodium 2 3 dim.r.aptopropane sulphonic acid (DmPS) on some biochemical and histological parameters in mice, exposed to 1/4LC 50 concentration of Sm vapor (10.5 mg/m\+3) were examined over a period of seven days. Exposure of Sm.r.sulted in a significant loss of blood, hepatic and pulmonary glutathione (GSH) and an elevation of hepatic and pulmonary oxidized glutathione (GSSG). These biochemical changes were accompanied by a number of histopathological alterations. The most prominent was congestion and degeneration in viscera and obliteration of chromatin material. These biochemical and histopathological changes were less m.r.ed in animals pre administered with DmPS followed by DmPS exposure indicating some protective value of the thiol (DmPS) against Sm induced oxidative injury in mice.

Hall effect measurements in undoped In0.5Ga0.5 P/GaAs allo grown by metal organic vapour-phase epitaxy （mOVPE） have been carried out in the *** range 15-350K. The experimenta.1 results are analysed using a two-band model including conduction band transport calculated using an iterative solution of the Boltz- mann equation. A good agreement was obtained between theory and experiment. The impurity contents of In0.5Ga0.5 P/GaAs alloy, such as donor density ND, acceptor density NA and donor activation energy εD, were also determined.

The possibility of ttming between red, green and broadband white color of up-conversion was demonstrated in thermally 450 ℃ treated Yb/Er co-doped nano NaYF4 phosphor. The color variability was studied by means of power dependence of luminescence, which exhibited unusual behavior. Large hysteresis, as well as discrepancy from a power law indicated the important role the increased heating played during the up-conversion in nano-sized materials.

Chemically synthesized ZnS thin film is found to be a good x-ray radiation sensor. We report the effect of annealing on the x-ray radiation detection sensitivity of a ZnS thin film synthesized by a chemical bath deposition technique. The chemically synthesized ZnS films are annealed at 333, 363 and 393K for 1 h. Structural analyses show that the lattice defects in the films decrease with annealing. Further, the band gap is also found to decrease from 3.38 to 3.21 eV after annealing at 393K. Current-voltage characteristics of the films are studied under dark and x-ray irradiation conditions. Due to the decrease of lattice defects and band gap, the conductivity under dark conditions is found to increase from 2.06 × 10^-6 to 1.69 × 10^-5 S/em, while that under x-ray irradiation increases from 4.13 × 10^-5 to 5.28 ×10^-5 S/cm. On the other hand, the x-ray radiation detection sensitivity of the films is found to decrease with annealing. This decrease of detection sensitivity is attributed to the decrease of the band gap as well as some structural and surface m.r.hological changes occurring after annealing.

The Sodium montm.r.llonite(Na-mmT)is not susceptible to polym.r.due to its organophilic character and low basal *** prim.r. objective of this study was to im.r.ve Na-mmT platelets separation by organically modifying it with cation and anion exchanges using Cetyl trimethyl ammonium bromide(CTAB)and Sodium dodecyl sulfate(SDS)*** spacing,presence of functional groups,Zetapotential with particle size analysis and thermal stability of the Organomodified Na-mmT(OmmT)were characterized using XrD,FTIr,zeta-potential analyzer and TGA *** basal spacing of CTAB modified OmmTincreased to 19.5Åfrom 11.0Åwhich corresponds to the basal spacing of *** SDS modified OmmT did not show any increase in the basal *** spectra of CTAB modified Na-mmT illustrated the attachment of CTAB functional groups to Na-mmT,while the same was absent in the case of SDS modified *** zeta-potential of Na-mmT shifted from–24.88 mV to 15.66 mV in the case of CTAB modified Na-mmTand 12.49 mV for SDS modified Na-mmT,indicating a greater surface potential of the modified *** TGA showed greater weight loss for CTAB modified Na-mmT than that for Na-mmT,indicating the effective Na+ion exchange with alkyl amines.

The characteristic behavior of the inductance and capacitance of multi junction ac Josephson effect in superconductor has been presented. Few parameters characterizing the behavior of Josephson junctions are needed to evaluate for technological applications. In this paper, the inductance and capacitance of the multi Josephson junction connected in parallel are evaluated, using simple classical argument. The num.r.cal results for inductance and capacitance have also been included, indicating few technological applications.
