Variabilit. in soil propert.es is a crit.cal element.across wide areas of researches especially in several aspect. of agricult.re and environment.including sewage disposal and global climat. change. Part.cle size fract.on (sand, silt. and clay), effect.ve cat.on exchange capacit., base sat.rat.on, pH, organic carbon, t.t.l nit.ogen, carbon nit.ogen rat.o, available phosphorus, exchangeable bases (calcium, magnesium, sodium, pot.ssium) and acidit. are frequent.y used in agricult.re for soil management. t.e object.ve of t.is st.dy t.erefore was t. ident.fy soil management.fact.rs from t.ese set.of 15 soil propert.es and spat.al dist.ibut.on of represent.t.ve soil management.propert.es. t.e st.dy was carried out.in t.e Universit. of Uyo t.aching and Research Farm measuring 8.19 hect.res in Universit. of Uyo Annex, Uyo in Akwa Ibom St.t. of Nigeria. Nine and t.n t.averses were made horizont.lly and vert.cally respect.vely at.40 met.rs int.rvals. A t.t.l of 58 soil samples were collect.d at.0 - 15 cm dept. on t.e grid nodes of t.e t.averses. Part.cle size dist.ibut.ons, exchangeable bases and acidit., effect.ve cat.on exchange capacit. (ECEC), available phosphorus (avail. P), base sat.rat.on (BS), organic carbon, t.t.l nit.ogen, carbon nit.ogen rat.o (CNR) and pH of t.e samples were det.rmined in t.e laborat.ry. Coefficient.of variat.on indicat.d t.at.26.6% of t.e soil propert.es (sand cont.nt. pH, CNR and sodium) were least.variable, 40.1% comprising silt. clay cont.nt., ECEC, base sat.rat.on, phosphorus and magnesium were moderat.ly. Whereas 33.3% of t.e soil propert.es comprising clay cont.nt. organic carbon, t.t.l nit.ogen, exchangeable Ca, K and acidit. (i.e.) were highly variable. t.ere were significant.correlat.on (p t.e soil propert.es, t.e st.ongest.negat.ve significant.(p t.ons were bet.een sand and clay (r = –0.85), exchangeable acidit. and base sat.rat.on (r = –0.85), whereas t.e st.ongest.posit.ve significant.correlat.ons w

Pb, Zn, Cd, Cu and Cr concent.at.ons in rainwat.r from roof and non-roof sources were det.rmined using At.mic Absorpt.on Spect.ophot.met.y. t.ree geospat.al locat.ons comprising Jakpa, Udu, and Ubeji were select.d based on prevailing ant.ropogenic act.vit.es. t.e rainwat.r samples were syst.mat.cally collect.d from (aluminum) roof and non-roof sources for t.e mont.s of April, June, and August.and Oct.ber 2022, t.eat.d and analyzed in t.e laborat.ry for sixt.en physicochemical paramet.rs. Result. were st.t.st.cally analyzed using ANOVA, and t.t.st.for t.e det.rminat.on of t.e level of relat.onships and variat.ons across geospat.al locat.ons. Significant.correlat.ons (r = 0.72) exist.bet.een Cr in rainwat.r from roof and non-roof sources. Implying point.source cont.minat.ons and may be emanat.ng from t.e influence of roof mat.rials. Furt.ermore, high concent.at.ons of Cd and Pb in roof source above WHO st.ndards were most.y in Jakpa and Ubeji. Calculat.d Healt. Risk Index (HRI) for children and adult.is great.r t.an 1. t.e result. showed t.at.most.samples from t.e locat.ons are considered not.safe (HRI > 1) especially for Cd, which means t.at.t.ere are pot.nt.al healt. risks consuming rainwat.r from Jakpa, Udu and Ubeji. t.erefore, t.ere is need for prompt.sensit.zat.on program t. dissuade people from direct.y drinking rainwat.r from t.ese locat.ons.

t.e object.ve of t.e st.dy was t. est.blish approximat. relat.onships bet.een yield and soil nut.ient. in oil palm product.on. t.e st.dy was conduct.d in Nigerian Inst.t.t. for Oil Palm Research (NIFOR) subst.t.on Ibesit.ekoi in Oruk Anam Local Government.Area of Akwa Ibom St.t. Nigeria. Soil, rainfall and yield dat. were collect.d from oil palm plant.t.on est.blished 49, 29, 9 and 0 (cont.ol) years ago in an area underlain by coast.l plain sands. Descript.ve st.t.st.cs, analysis of variance and mult.ple st.pwise regression analysis were used t. st.dy variat.ons, effect.of land use on soil propert.es at.different.dept.s and cont.ibut.ons of various soil nut.ient. at.different.dept.s t. t.e yield (fresh fruit.bunch ‘FFB’ and palm oil) of oil palm. Result. of coefficient.of variabilit. revealed t.at.approx. 45.5% of t.e variables were highly variable including available phosphorus, ext.act.ble zinc, FFB and palm oil, while ot.ers were eit.er least.or moderat.ly variable. Oil palm t.ees influenced soil development.wit. it. effect.on silt.cont.nt.at.30 - 60 cm dept.. Upt.ke of phosphorus in oil palm land use syst.m decreases wit. dept.. t.is was furt.er confirmed by t.e relat.ve cont.ibut.on of available phosphorus t. FFB yield t.at.decreased from t.e surface of t.e soil downwards. Ext.act.ble zinc cont.nt. of oil palm land use were not.significant.y different.from each ot.er (ranging bet.een 9.65 and 7.84 mg·kg–1) but.significant.y different.from t.e cont.ol (23.99 mg·kg–1). In t.e modeling process, it.was observed t.at.t.e absolut. cont.ibut.on of t.xt.re was minimal while exchangeable sodium was highest.(i.e. 66.5 percent. in t.e quant.t. of oil palm product.on. Also ext.act.ble copper and zinc were found t. have made large cont.ibut.ons t. FFB and oil palm. Met.ods t.ree t.lerat.d doses of t.e ext.act., 10 mg/kg, 200 mg/kg and 700 mg/kg per day, were obt.ined from t.e result. of acut. t.xicit. t.st.and administ.red orally t. t.ree respect.ve groups of female rat. for 3 d and saline group of rat. served as t.e negat.ve cont.ol （0 mg/ml）, 17β-est.adiol group of rat. served as t.e posit.ve group, 5 rat. per group. Rat. from each of t.e groups were sacrificed on t.e 4t. day and t.eir ut.ri were carefully isolat.d and examined. Result. t.e st.dy revealed t.at.bot. ext.act. of t.e leaves of Gnet.m africanum influenced t.e ut.rine muscle weight.and growt. of bot. adult.and immat.re female rat. in a similar manner as 17β-est.adiol. Conclusion t.e leaves of Gnet.m africanum may be phyt.est.ogenic and could influence fet.l implant.t.on or ova fert.lizat.on, t.erefore, abuse in t.e use of t.e leaves of Gnet.m africanum as veget.ble in some Nigerian meal. Meanwhile t.is effect.is reversible, t.e plant.ext.act. could be possibly developed as a female cont.acept.ve t. cont.ol birt. rat..

Object.ve t. invest.gat. t.e age-long claim by t.e locales t.at.t.e food t.ickener, M. urens seed, has ant.spermat.genic, hence, ant.fert.lit. effect. in man. Met.ods Eight.week old male Albino rat. were used as t.e mammalian model for t.is st.dy. t.ey were assigned t. four groups of 6 rat. each and t.eat.ent.wit. t.e et.anol ext.act.was for a period of 14 d. t.e t.eat.ent.regimes were 70 mg/kg, 140 mg/kg, 210 mg/kg and 0 mg/kg BW in groups A, B, C and D, respect.vely. Ext.act. were prepared by Soxhlet.ext.act.on using 80% et.anol as t.e ext.act.ng solvent. t.e st.ck solut.on was prepared by dissolving 1 g of t.e past. ext.act.in 10 ml corn oil （vehicle） t. make up 100 mg/ml concent.at.on. At.t.e end of t.e t.eat.ent. sperm from t.e dist.l caudal epididymis was collect.d and analyzed for sperm count. sperm mot.lit. and sperm morphology. Result. Significant.reduct.on was observed in sperm count.and sperm mot.lit. （P〈0.05）. t.e mean sperm count.for group A was 6.27±0.02×10^6, for group B was 6.16±0.02×10^6 and group C had 6.0±0.0×10^6 sperm cells t.e cont.ol （group D） had a mean sperm count.of 6.50±0.09×10^6 which was higher t.an t.at.of any t.eat.d group. t.is work is geared t.wards det.ct.ng and solving t.e problem of mult.colinearit. in regression analysis. As such, Variance Inflat.on Fact.r (VIF) and t.e Condit.on Index (CI) were used as measures of such det.ct.on. Ridge Regression (RR) and t.e Principal Component.Regression (PCR) were t.e t.o ot.er approaches used in modeling apart.from t.e convent.onal simple linear regression. For t.e purpose of comparing t.e t.o met.ods, simulat.d dat. were used. Our t.sk is t. ascert.in t.e effect.veness of each of t.e met.ods based on t.eir respect.ve mean square errors. From t.e result. we found t.at.Ridge Regression (RR) met.od is bet.er t.an principal component.regression when mult.collinearit. exist. among t.e predict.rs.
