This study is based on the modification and development of a two-liter plastic container blow molding machine into a five-liter one provided with a translucent view stripe. This study considers some objectives including reducing the total cost, increasing the amount of plastic recovery, and raising the desired plastic materials. Proper designs were prepared and directly applied on spot. Tangible results were obtained. Among others, the modification of some components of the machine, e.g. the extruder, has led to the possible reuse of the milled (recovery) and extra material from the manufacturing processes. That was also conducive to an effective reduction in the cost of production to 50% in some cases. Prior to its modification, this old machine was used to produce polyvinyl chloride (PVC) containers that have become prohibited these days for their damaging effect on man’s life. For now, and after modification, it has become possible to use High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) material, a fact that has improved labor conditions, too.

The TAM (technology acceptance model) has been widely used to examine the factors that influence a person"s acceptance of new technology. In mobile commerce, trust has been proposed as an important factor affecting the adoption of this new technology. The objective of this study is to test the impact of trust and other factors on mobile commerce adoption based on the technology acceptance model. A cross-sectional survey is conducted among 130 respondents from two universities samples. Bivariate correlations and multiple regressions were used to test the hypotheses. The results shows that trust significantly influence the attitude towards accepting mobile commerce.

The vorticity analysis technique was applied to measure the different lithological units,such as schist,metagranite and metavolcano-sedimentary rocks,which are present in the Halaban region.This work aims to interpret the relationship between the different lithologies and the tectonic setting,in order to elucidate the nature of kinematic analysis in the Halaban region.The kinematic analyses were applied to feldspar porphyroclasts,quartz and hornblende for twenty-six samples.The kinematic vorticity number(Wm)for deformed rocks in the study area ranged from~0.6 to 0.9.The direction of the long axes for finite strain data(X axes)revealed a WNW trend with shallow dipping.The direction of the short axes for finite strain data(Z axes)were represented by vertical with associated horizontal foliation.The results of the kinematic vorticity and strain analyses are characterized by simple shear with different degrees of deformation in the Halaban region.Furthermore,our finite strain data shows no significant volume change during deformation.The subhorizontal foliation was synchronized with thrusting and deformation.Furthermore,throughout the overlying nappes,the same attitudes of tectonic contacts are observable,the nappes in the orogens being formed from simple shear deformation.

BACKGROUND The coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19),caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2,represents a major challenge to health care systems both globally and regionally,with many opting by cancelling elective surgeries.Cardiac operations in patients diagnosed with COVID-19 have been imperative due to their emergency nature,critical condition of patients awaiting cardiac surgery,and accumulated number of cardiac surgical interventions throughout the last months.CASE SUMMARY Here we describe three COVID-19 positive cases who underwent coronary surgery,on an urgent basis.We did not experience worsening of the patients’clinical condition due to COVID-19 and therefore a routine post-operative chest Xray(CXR)was not required.None of the health care providers attending the patients endured cross infection.Further trials would be needed in order to confirm these results.CONCLUSION While the pandemic has adversely hit the health systems worldwide,cardiac surgical patients who concomitantly contracted COVID-19 may undergo a smooth post-operative course as a routine post-operative CXR may not be required.

Geochemistry and Origin of the Hyper Salinity of Groundwater in Wasia-Biyadh Aquifer, Saudi Arabia

The origin of the hyper saline groundwater in aquifers all over the world is still unclear till today. The current paper is an attempt to interpret a possible origin of the hyper salinity in the groundwater of the Wasia-Biyadh Aquifer system in Saudi Arabia. The result indicated that the major factors contributing salinity to groundwater are silicate weathering and evaporite dissolution/and or evaporation, as indicated by the Na+-normalized Ca2+ VS HCO3-plot. However, some groundwater samples showed hyper salinity that had been attributed to the presence of a naturally-occurring-hydrothermal system, due to the high concentration of the radionuclides within the aquifer. The high-salinity samples (Na-Cl type) plot under the evaporation line on the Na+/Cl- vs. Cl- relationship, suggesting deep heating that resulted in hyper salinity. The geochemical reactions in the eastern part of the aquifer included the precipitation of pyrite, dolomite, clay, and the incongruent dissolution of plagioclase.

Objective:To determine the chemical composition,total phenolic and total flavonoid contents ofthe crude extracts from leaves and stems of a Lebanese plantEuphorbia macroclada schyzoceras(E.macroclada),and to evaluate their antioxidant potential using DPPH,H2O2,and chelating offerrous ions tests.Methods:Quantification of the total phenolic and total flavonoid contents ofthe crude extracts from leaves and stems and the antioxidant activities were evaluated usingspectrophotometric analyses.The chemical composition has been estimated using differenttechniques such as IR,LC/MS and NMR.Results:Ethanolic extract from leaves ofE.macroclada was better than aqueous extract and showed higher content in total phenolic and total flavonoidthan found in the stems.On the other hand,using DPPH and H2O2tests,this extract from leavesshowed higher antioxidant capacity than aqueous extract.However,using the chelating of ferrousions test,the antioxidant activity of the aqueous extract of both stems and leaves was strongerthan that of ethanolic once.The chemical composition of the whole plant showed the presence ofsome aromatic compounds and fatty acids.Conclusions:Both ethanolic and water extracts fromboth parts of this plant are effective and have good antioxidant power.So,this plant can be usedin the prevention of a number of diseases related to oxidative stress.

The aim of this research was to explore the energy benefits and future potential of using Building Integrated Photovoltaic (BIPV) and Electrochromic Glazing (EG) within the climatic conditions of the city of Abu Dhabi. The Integrated Environmental Solutions (IES-VE) energy modeling software was used to assess the energy performance, mainly the reductions in HVAC and lighting, for different configurations and compare that to the base case scenario for south, east, west, and north facing facades. The results showed that the BIPV is most advantageous on the south fa?ade while the EC glazing performs best on the north facing windows. Moreover, the change in sensor location increased the energy savings for both cases, although the change was very marginal compared to the change of the glass properties. Using an automated light control system with dimming for both models, compared against the standard on-off lighting mechanism in the base case, the BIPV proves to have a higher total annual energy saving potential for most orientations, upto 33.5% while dynamic EC was best suited for the North orientation resulting in 7.4% reduction in the total annual energy consumption.

Forest fire prediction proves to contribute in preventing fire occurrence or reducing its catastrophic impacts in worst cases on human lives, properties and green forestry. Seven existing fire weather indices are studied in this paper. The aim is to find the best fitting model for Lebanon Mediterranean conditions among Keetch Byram, Nesterov, Modified Nesterov, Angstrom, Modified Keetch Byram, FMI and FWI Canadian index. Meteorological data from Lebanon are implemented for that purpose. On the behalf, a study is held on the most efficient parameters allowing to find an adapted empirical drought index to Lebanon and Mediterranean conditions in the future.
