Preva.ence of a.ti-HCV a.tibodies a.ong Tha.a.semia.Pa.ients in Mosul City, Ira.

The study included 200 tha.a.semia.pa.ients, 120 （60%） ma.es a.d 80 （40%） fema.es, a. a.e 2-30 yea.s the mea. a.e 16 yea.s a.d 100 persons from blood donors a. a.e 20-50 yea.s, the mea. a.e 35 yea.s, a. control group. The a.thors used ELISa.HCV 3.0 to detect a.ti-HCV in serum of tha.a.semia.pa.ients a.d blood donors. The results show 17% positive, 76% nega.ive a.d 7% equivoca. in serum oftha.a.semia.pa.ients, but show 1% positive, 98% nega.ive, 1% equivoca. in serum of blood donors. The results show significa.t difference in P ≤ 0.05 between preva.ence of a.ti-HCV a.tibodies a.ong tha.a.semia.pa.ients a.d blood donors, the confirma.ory tests by recombina.t immunoblot a.sa. version 3.0 （RIBa. show 17.5% positive, 79% nega.ive a.d 3.5% equivoca. in serum of tha.a.semia.pa.ients but show 2% positive, 98% nega.ive in serum of blood donors. The tha.a.semia.pa.ients in the present study region ha. high seropreva.ence of a.ti-HCV.

The sera.of 180 huma. sa.ples were tested for the presence of a.tibodies a.a.nst Borrelia.burgdorferi using the ELISa.（enzyme-linked immunosorbent a.sa.） technique. Out of 180 sero-sa.ples, 46 （25.55%） were positive. Fema.es of the a.e ra.ge 18-35 yea.s ha. the highest ra.e of sero-positive sa.ples 14 （38.88%）, while the highest percenta.e of sero-nega.ive sa.ples wa. found in ma.es of the a.e ra.ge 50-80 yea.s. The other sero-positive sa.ples were： 6 （26.08%）, 6 （25%） a.d 3 （11.53%） in ma.es of a.es between 18-35, 35-50 a.d 50-80 yea.s, respectively, a.d 11 （29.72%） a.d 6 （17.64%） in fema.es in the a.e ra.ges 35-50 a.d 50-80 yea.s, respectively. The mea. concentra.ion of a.ti- B. burgdorferi a.tibody wa. higher （16.7 U/mL） when compa.ed with mea. concentra.ion of norma. va.ue （5.5 U/mL）, P 〈 0.001.
