Fuzzy Logic–Based Scheme for Load Balancing in Grid Services

Load balancing is essential for efficient utilization of resources and enhancing the responsiveness of a computational grid, especially that hosts of services most frequently used, i.e. food, health and nutrition. Various techniques have been developed and applied;each has its own limitations due to the dynamic nature of the grid. Efficient load balancing can be achieved by an effective measure of the node’s/cluster’s utilization. In this paper, as a part of an NSTIP project # 10-INF1381-04 and in order to assess of FAQIH framework ability to support the load balance in a computational grid that hosts of food, health and nutrition inquire services. We detail the design and implementation of a proposed fuzzy-logic-based scheme for dynamic load balancing in grid computing services. The proposed scheme works by using a fuzzy logic inference system which uses some metrics to capture the variability of loads and specifies the state of each node per a cluster. Then, based on the overall nodes’ states, the state of the corresponding cluster will be defined in order to assign the newly arrived inquires such that load balancing among different clusters and nodes is accomplished. Many experiments are conducted to investigate the effectiveness of the proposed fuzzy-logic-based scheme to support the load balance where the results show that the proposed scheme achieves really satisfactory and consistently load balance than of other randomize approaches in grid computing services.

The DC-DC voltage-mode controlled buck converter is a nonlinear, nonsmooth system that presents different circuit topologies within one switching cycle. This paper develops a Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy approach for modeling this circuit to cap- ture all the essential nonlinearities that occur in fast time scale. Based on the resulting model, we propose tractable mathematical stability analysis for identifying fast-scale instabilities of the converter, more specifically the edge of bifurcation phenomena, employing nonsmooth Lyapunov functions. The search for the Lyapunov functions are formulated as Linear Matrix Inequalities （LMI） feasibility problem which easily can be solved using up- to-date interior point methods.

The ffect of tin-oxide(SnO)nanoparticles,which are obtained by indium-tin-oxide(ITO)treatment,on the p-GaN surface of GaN-based flip-chip blue micro-light-emitting diode(μ-LED)arrays is investigated.A thin Ag layer is deposited on the ITO-treated p-GaN surface by *** nanoparticles originate from inho-mogencous Schottly barrier heights(SBHs)at Ag/p-GaN ***,efective SBH is reduced,which causes carrier transport into theμ-LED to enhance.10 nm thick ITO-treatedμ-LEDs show better optoelectronic characteristics among fabricated u-LEDs owing to improved ohmic contact and highly reflective p-type ***,SnO nanoparticles help to make good ohmic contact,which results in improved carrier transport intoμ-LEDs and thus results in increased optoelectronic performances.

据报道,2020年新冠肺炎疫情导致塑料废物的日产量增加了约5.4万吨。生物质废物是另一种常见的废物,其中农业和农林业、森林和木材加工以及城市垃圾都是主要的生物质废物来源。化学链共气化是一种新型转化技术,基于此技术有望开发出长期的废弃物管理系统,从而减少温室气体排放并提高能源回收率。本文的研究目的是探索苜蓿和聚乙烯的共气化机理,以生产高氢碳比质量的合成气,以满足费托合成工艺的需求。构建了基于固定床反应器的实验室规模化学链气化(CLG)系统,开展了对紫花苜蓿和聚乙烯的气化试验,结果表明可以生产出高H2/CO 比的合成气。研究细节如下:1.开展了紫花苜蓿(单一燃料)的化学链气化试验,以研究重要操作参数对合成气组成和质量的影响。结果表明,在较高的气化温度下,最终产物分布显著改善,因此,950℃是气化的理想温度。同时,由于水煤气变换反应,蒸气燃料比(S/AL)的增加造成了更高的H2和更低的CO 比率,最终,S/AL比为1被认为最佳。此外,载氧体燃料比(OC/AL)的增加会造成更多的炭气化;但另一方面,过量的载氧体将会促进合成气的氧化,从而导致合成气低位发热量的降低。最终,OC/AL比为0.5被认为是最理想的。2.研究了苜蓿和聚乙烯混合物的化学链共气化过程。原料中聚乙烯的存在导致了合成气产量特别是氢气产量的增加,当H2/CO 比增加到2以上后,所得的合成气可以满足费托合成的需求。当混合比为50%时,低位发热量和H2/CO 比均可达到最大值(14.05 MJ/Nm3和2.50)。通过比较单一燃料和混合燃料试验的气体产物结果,证明了化学链共气化中存在协同效应。与生物质样品相比,塑料中更高的C和H含量促进更高H2峰值浓度的实现。该共气化过程的协同效应反映在了纯样品和混合物样品之间观察到的不同趋势中。3.通过化学链氧化还原循环研究了载氧体的反应性。结果表明,铁矿石作为载氧体的循环性能相对稳定。然而,在化学链共气化循环中,H2产率逐渐降低。这可归因于在第3和第6次氧化还原循环后,OC表面上矿物元素的累积。本文研究表明,生物质与塑料的化学链共气化是实现高质量合成气生产、以及环境保护和材料回收的一个潜力途径。

Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography under moderate sedation and factors predicting need for anesthesiologist directed sedation: A county hospital experience

AIM: To evaluate variables associated with failure of gastroenterologist directed moderate sedation (GDS) during endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) and derive a predictive model for use of anesthesiologist directed sedation (ADS) in selected patients. METHODS: With institutional review board approval, we retrospectively analyzed consecutive records of all patients who underwent ERCPs between July 1, 2009 to October 1, 2011 to identify patient related and procedure related factors which could predict failure of GDS. For patient related factors, we abstracted and analyzeddata regarding the age, gender, ethnicity, alcohol and illicit drug use habits. For procedure related factors, we abstracted data regarding initial or repeat procedures, indication for performing ERCP, the interventions performed during ERCP, and the grade d difficulty of cannulation as defined in the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy guidelines. Our outcome of interest was procedural success. If the procedure was not successful, the reasons for failure of procedures were recorded along with immediate post procedure complications. Multivariate analysis was then performed to define factors associated with failure of GDS and a model constructed to predict requirement of ADS. RESULTS: Fourteen percent of patients undergoing GDS could not complete the procedure due to intolerance and 2% due to cardiovascular complications. Substance abuse, male gender, black race and alcohol use were significant predictors of failure of GDS on univariate analysis and substance abuse and higher grade of procedure remained significant on multivariate analysis. Using our predictive model where the presence of substance abuse was given 1 point and planned grade of intervention was scored from 1-3, only 12% patients with a score of 1 would require ADS due to failure of GDS, compared to 50% with a score of 3 or higher. The well-known frictional effect related to liquid-liquid two-phaseﬂow in pipelines can be reduced using drag-reducing *** this study,such an effect has been investigated experimentally using a mixture of oil and ***,numerical simulations have been carried out using the COMSOL simulation *** mea-surements were taken in a horizontal pipe with the length and diameter equal to 3 and 0.125 m,***,Polyethylene oxide with 150 ppm was exploited to reduce the drag effect while considering different water-to-oil fractions(0.3,0.4,0.5,and 0.7)and a constant totalﬂow velocity of 2.3 m/*** made evident by the results,a signiﬁcant reduction can be obtained in terms of pressure drop,which becomes even more signiﬁcant as the water to oil fraction is *** maximum achieved drag reduction is 70%with a water fraction of *** results also show that the addition of polymer additives can also have an impact on theﬂow ***-parison of experimental and numerically determined pressure drop indicates that the error is smaller than 7%.

Assemble of Dye Sensitized Solar Cell Based on Locally Available Natural Dye

Due to the availability, non-toxicity and cost-effectivity, natural dyes are becoming popular day by day. This study explains the fabrication method of dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) using natural dyes containing anthocyanins extracted from pomegranate, blackberry and beetroot. Doctor blade method was employed to prepare TiO2 film as photoanode on FTO glass. The structural and morphological properties of photoanode was studied using X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), respectively. The extracted dye absorption was evaluated by UVVis- NIR spectroscopy. The fabricated cells have efficiency in the range of 0.015-0.042% which has been measured by sun simulator.

A Machine Learning Classification Model for Detecting Prediabetes

The incidence of prediabetes is in a dangerous condition in the USA. The likelihood of increasing chronic and complex health issues is very high if this stage of prediabetes is ignored. So, early detection of prediabetes conditions is critical to decrease or avoid type 2 diabetes and other health issues that come as a result of untreated and undiagnosed prediabetes condition. This study is done in order to detect the prediabetes condition with an artificial intelligence method. Data used for this study is collected from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) survey conducted by the Division of Health and Nutrition Examination Surveys (DHANES). In this study, several machine learning algorithms are exploited and compared to determine the best algorithm based on Average Squared Error (ASE), Kolmogorov-Smirnov (Youden) scores, areas under the ROC and some other measures of the machine learning algorithm. Based on these scores, the champion model is selected, and Random Forest is the champion model with approximately 89% accuracy.
