THE origin of the giant Bayan Obo REE-Nb-Fe ore deposit has been under much debate since its discoveryas an iron deposit by Prof. Ding Daoheng in 1927. The main dispute is concentrated on the genesis of theore-hosted dolomite marbles of the deposit, Some authors considered them to be sedimentary in origin,while others pointed out that they could be carbonatite. However, there are very few researches concerning the compositions of carbonate minerals which may provide a direct clue to their petrogenesis. Herewe show the variations of compositions in carbonate minerals from Bayan Obo. Carbonate rocks from Bayan Obo, Inner Mongolia, could be divided into sedimentary limestone anddolostone (H8_s), coarse-grained dolomite marble (H8_c), fine-grained dolomite marble (H8_f) and carbonatite dykes (D) based on their texture, structure, mineral progenesis and occurrences. We assessed the effects of furan and lycopene on the histopathological and biochemical changes on lungs, body and lung weights, and food consumption of rats. Furan and diabetes caused histopathological changes, increment in malondialdehyde levels, and decrease in antioxidant enzyme activities. Lycopene showed a protective effect against these damages, except for glutathione-S-transferase and glutathione peroxidase activities. Consequently, furan and diabetes resulted in lung toxicity. Our findings demonstrate that furan treatment resulted in more alterations in histology and biochemical parameters in diabetic rats and lycopene showed protective effects against these alterations.

The aim of our work is to improve the existing user-exoskeleton models by introducing a simulation architecture that can simulate its dynamic interaction, thereby altering the initial motion of the user. A simulation architecture is developed that uses the musculoskeletal models from OpenSim, and that implements an exoskeleton control algorithm and human response model in Matlab. The musculoskeletal models need to be extended with the response of a user to external forces to simulate the dy- namic interaction. A set of experiments was performed to fit this response model. A validation test showed that more than 80% of the variance of the motion could be explained. With the human response model in the combined simulation architecture, a simulation in which an object connects with the exoskeleton or with the human is performed. The effect of the exoskeleton on, among others, muscle excitation and altered motion can be assessed with this architecture. Our work can be used to better predict the effect an exoskeleton has on the user.

A Geochemical Study of an REE-rich Carbonatite Dyke at Bayan Obo,Inner Mongolia,Northern China

An REE-rich carbonatite dyke was found in Dulahala, close to the Bayan Obo superlarge REE-Nb-Fe mineral deposit in Inner Mongolia, northern China. The REE content in the dyke varies greatly, from 1% up to 20% (wt), which might constitute rich REE ores. Light REEs in the carbonatite are enriched and highly fractionated relative to heavy REEs and there is no Eu anomaly. The REE and trace element distribution patterns of the carbonatite are identical to those of fine-grained dolomite marble which is the host rock of the Bayan Obo REE-Nb-Fe superlarge mineral deposit. This indicates a petrogenetic linkage between the REE-rich carbonatite and the mineralizations in this region.

AIM: To study the effect of infliximab on fatigue in relation to cytokine levels in Crohn's disease (CD) patients. METHODS: Fourteen CD patients were blinded for treatment and received placebo at baseline, and infliximab 2 wk later, with a follow-up of 4 wk. Blood samples were drawn on a regular basis, and questionnaires on fatigue, depression, quality of life, and clinical disease activity were completed at regular intervals. RESULTS: After placebo infusion, fatigue scores decreased within 3 d (3.5 points±1.1, P≤0.01), but returned to baseline values 14 d after this infusion. The drop of fatigue scores following infliximab infusion sustained until the end of the study (3.8 points±1.4, P≤0.05). Quality of life was increased at the end of the study compared to baseline values (138.6±9.4 vs 179.4±6.7; P≤0.005), whereas depression scores were decreased (20.4±9.4 vs 11.3±2.2; P≤0.01). No correlation between the severity of fatigue and the level of cytokines was observed. CONCLUSION: The reduction of fatigue after infliximab infusion is subjective to a placebo effect. The effect of infliximab on fatigue, however, persists while the placebo effect disappears after a short period of time. A clear role of cytokines could not be substantiated.

Active and passive behaviors of pure gold（Au） and roasted gold ore（RGO） electrodes were investigated at 25 °C in de-aerated agitated cyanide *** voltammetry and potentiodynamic polarization with agitation at 100 r/min in 0.04 mol/L NaCN solution showed different peak positions and current *** tests illustrate that the peak current densities increase greatly with increasing the cyanide *** the pH value from 10 to 11 resultes in a great decrease of current density,while it increases noticeably by decreasing the agitation from 100 to 60 r/*** the presence of oxygen,Au and RGO electrodes show different characteristics of peak positions and corrosion *** potentiostatic studies show that increasing the potential from 1 to 1.4 V at pH value of 11 results in an 80% decrease of current density while decreasing the pH value from 11 to 10 at 1 V gives a 1.7 fold increase of current density,possibly due to more effective passive *** polarization,electrochemical noise measurements（ENM） during decay periods show that Au results in more passive states at high potentials,showing pitting *** ENM results show that this technique can be a promising tool for a better understanding of gold *** XPS studies prove the presence of passive oxides.

The joint European Space Agency and Chinese Academy of Sciences Solar wind Magnetosphere Ionosphere Link Explorer(SMILE)mission will explore global dynamics of the magnetosphere under varying solar wind and interplanetary magnetic field conditions,and simultaneously monitor the auroral response of the Northern Hemisphere *** these large-scale responses with medium and fine-scale measurements at a variety of cadences by additional ground-based and space-based instruments will enable a much greater scientific impact beyond the original goals of the SMILE ***,we describe current community efforts to prepare for SMILE,and the benefits and context various experiments that have explicitly expressed support for SMILE can offer.A dedicated group of international scientists representing many different experiment types and geographical locations,the Ground-based and Additional Science Working Group,is facilitating these *** include constructing an online SMILE Data Fusion Facility,the discussion of particular or special modes for experiments such as coherent and incoherent scatter radar,and the consideration of particular observing strategies and spacecraft *** anticipate growing interest and community engagement with the SMILE mission,and we welcome novel ideas and insights from the solar-terrestrial community.
