Synthetic molecules that form functional noncovalent assemblies in water have received much attention for their potential applications as *** this work,we introduce a novel water-compatible monomer based on the phthalhydrazide moiety that assembles into hydrogen-bonded trimeric *** bulk,the material exhibits a cylindrical nanostructure in the liquid-crystalline phase at elevated temperatures,morphologically distinct from the crystalline lamellar *** water,these molecules effectively form cylinders in a one-dimensional fashion,yielding fibrous *** formation of these supramolecular polymers follows a cooperative mechanism,as evidenced by denaturation *** trimerized pattern represents a new category of aqueous su pramolecular polymers with future prospects for functional complex molecular systems.

The joint European Space Agency and Chinese Academy of Sciences Solar wind Magnetosphere Ionosphere Link Explorer(SMILE)mission will explore global dynamics of the magnetosphere under varying solar wind and interplanetary magnetic field conditions,and simultaneously monitor the auroral response of the Northern Hemisphere *** these large-scale responses with medium and fine-scale measurements at a variety of cadences by additional ground-based and space-based instruments will enable a much greater scientific impact beyond the original goals of the SMILE ***,we describe current community efforts to prepare for SMILE,and the benefits and context various experiments that have explicitly expressed support for SMILE can offer.A dedicated group of international scientists representing many different experiment types and geographical locations,the ground-based and Additional Science Working group,is facilitating these *** include constructing an online SMILE Data Fusion Facility,the discussion of particular or special modes for experiments such as coherent and incoherent scatter radar,and the consideration of particular observing strategies and spacecraft *** anticipate growing interest and community engagement with the SMILE mission,and we welcome novel ideas and insights from the solar-terrestrial community.

Background There is increasing epidemiological evidence supporting the association between onchocerciasis and seizures, reinforcing the concept of onchocerciasis-associated epilepsy (OAE). The aim of this paper is to provide an update on the new knowledge about OAE and to propose recommendations to the World Health Organization how to address this public health *** text During the 2nd International Workshop on OAE held on 19-21 September, 2023, in Antwerp, Belgium, participants recognised OAE as a substantial yet neglected public health problem, particularly in areas of sub-Saharan Africa where onchocerciasis remains hyperendemic. Evidence from prospective population-based studies suggest that strengthening onchocerciasis elimination efforts leads to a significant reduction of OAE incidence. There is a need to validate an OAE case definition to estimate the burden of disease and identify onchocerciasis-endemic areas requiring intensification of onchocerciasis elimination programmes and integration of epilepsy care. It is expected that raising awareness about OAE will boost the population uptake of ivermectin. The implementation of a community-based epilepsy treatment programme offering free anti-seizure medications (ASMs) has shown high effectiveness in reducing the frequency of seizures and improving the overall quality of life of people with *** To reduce OAE burden, enhanced collaboration between onchocerciasis and mental health programmes at community, national, and international levels is required. Urgent efforts are needed to ensure the uninterrupted provision of free ASMs in onchocerciasis-endemic areas. Furthermore, OAE should be included in the quantification of the onchocerciasis disease burden.

BACKgROUND Splanchnic vein thrombosis(SVT)is a major complication of moderate and severe acute *** is no consensus on whether therapeutic anticoagulation should be started in patients with acute pancreatitis and *** To gain insight into current opinions and clinical decision making of pancreatologists regarding SVT in acute *** A total of 139 pancreatologists of the Dutch Pancreatitis Study group and Dutch Pancreatic Cancer group were approached to complete an online survey and case vignette *** threshold to assume group agreement was set at 75%.RESULTS The response rate was 67%(n=93).Seventy-one pancreatologists(77%)regularly prescribed therapeutic anticoagulation in case of SVT,and 12 pancreatologists(13%)for narrowing of splanchnic vein *** most common reason to treat SVT was to avoid complications(87%).Acute thrombosis was the most important factor to prescribe therapeutic anticoagulation(90%).Portal vein thrombosis was chosen as the most preferred location to initiate therapeutic anticoagulation(76%)and splenic vein thrombosis as the least preferred location(86%).The preferred initial agent was low molecular weight heparin(LMWH;87%).In the case vignettes,therapeutic anticoagulation was prescribed for acute portal vein thrombosis,with or without suspected infected necrosis(82%and 90%),and thrombus progression(88%).Agreement was lacking regarding the selection and duration of long-term anticoagulation,the indication for thrombophilia testing and upper endoscopy,and about whether risk of bleeding is a major barrier for therapeutic *** In this national survey,the pancreatologists seemed to agree on the use of therapeutic anticoagulation,using LMWH in the acute phase,for acute portal thrombosis and in the case of thrombus progression,irrespective of the presence of infected necrosis.

Nature-based coastal protection is increasingly recognised as a potentially sustainable and cost-effective solution to reduce coastal flood *** uses coastal ecosystems such as mangrove forests to create resilient designs for coastal flood ***,to use mangroves effectively as a nature-based measure for flood risk reduction,we must understand the biophysical processes that govern risk reduction capacity through mangrove ecosystem size and *** this perspective,we evaluate the current state of knowledge on local physical drivers and ecological processes that determine mangrove functioning as part of a nature-based flood *** show that the forest properties that comprise coastal flood protection are well-known,but models cannot yet pinpoint how spatial heterogeneity of the forest structure affects the capacity for wave or surge ***,there is relatively good understanding of the ecological processes that drive forest structure and size,but there is a lack of knowledge on how daily bed-level dynamics link to long-term biogeomorphic forest dynamics,and on the role of combined stressors influencing forest *** simulation models of forest structure under changing physical(*** to sea-level change)and ecological drivers with hydrodynamic attenuation models will allow for better projections of long-term natural coastal protection.

In this paper,we provide two new Triassic palaeomagnetic poles from Winterswijk,the Netherlands,in the stable interior of the Eurasian *** were respectively collected from the Anisian(~247–242 Ma)red marly limestones of the sedimentary transition of the Buntsandstein Formation to the dark grey limestones of the basal Muschelkalk Formation,and from the Rhaetian(~208–201 Ma)shallow marine claystones that unconformably overlie the Muschelkalk *** magnetization is carried by hematite or magnetite in the Anisian limestones,and iron sulfides and magnetite in the Rhaetian sedimentary rocks,revealing for both a large normal polarity overprint with a recent(geocentric axial dipole field)direction at the present latitude of the *** field and thermal demagnetization occasionally reveal a stable magnetization decaying towards the origin,interpreted as the Characteristic Remanent *** we find a pervasive(normal polarity)overprint,we can often still determine well-defined great-circle *** interpreted palaeomagnetic poles include the great-circle *** Anisian magnetic pole has declination D±ΔDx=210.8±3.0°,inclination I±ΔIx=-26.7±4.9°,with a latitude,longitude of 45.0°,142.0°respectively,K=43.9,A95=2.9°,N=*** Rhaetian magnetic pole has declination D±ΔDx=32.0±8.7°,inclination I±ΔIx=50.9±8.1°,with a latitude,longitude of 60.6°,123.9°respectively,K=19.3,A95=7.4°,N=*** poles plot close to the predicted location of global apparent polar wander paths(gAPWa Ps)in Eurasian coordinates and are feasible for future apparent polar wander path *** confirm that the intracontinental,shallow-marine germanic basin,in which the Muschelkalk Formation was deposited,existed at a palaeolatitude of 14.1°[11.3,17.1]N,in a palaeo-environment reminding of the Persian gulf *** Rhaetian times,palaeolatitudes of 31.6°[24.8,39.8]N were reached,on its way to the modern latitude of 52°N.

THE origin of the giant Bayan Obo REE-Nb-Fe ore deposit has been under much debate since its discoveryas an iron deposit by Prof. Ding Daoheng in 1927. The main dispute is concentrated on the genesis of theore-hosted dolomite marbles of the deposit, Some authors considered them to be sedimentary in origin,while others pointed out that they could be carbonatite. However, there are very few researches concerning the compositions of carbonate minerals which may provide a direct clue to their petrogenesis. Herewe show the variations of compositions in carbonate minerals from Bayan Obo. Carbonate rocks from Bayan Obo, Inner Mongolia, could be divided into sedimentary limestone anddolostone (H8_s), coarse-grained dolomite marble (H8_c), fine-grained dolomite marble (H8_f) and carbonatite dykes (D) based on their texture, structure, mineral progenesis and occurrences. The aim of our work is to improve the existing user-exoskeleton models by introducing a simulation architecture that can simulate its dynamic interaction, thereby altering the initial motion of the user. A simulation architecture is developed that uses the musculoskeletal models from OpenSim, and that implements an exoskeleton control algorithm and human response model in Matlab. The musculoskeletal models need to be extended with the response of a user to external forces to simulate the dy- namic interaction. A set of experiments was performed to fit this response model. A validation test showed that more than 80% of the variance of the motion could be explained. With the human response model in the combined simulation architecture, a simulation in which an object connects with the exoskeleton or with the human is performed. The effect of the exoskeleton on, among others, muscle excitation and altered motion can be assessed with this architecture. Our work can be used to better predict the effect an exoskeleton has on the user.

A geochemical Study of an REE-rich Carbonatite Dyke at Bayan Obo,Inner Mongolia,Northern China

An REE-rich carbonatite dyke was found in Dulahala, close to the Bayan Obo superlarge REE-Nb-Fe mineral deposit in Inner Mongolia, northern China. The REE content in the dyke varies greatly, from 1% up to 20% (wt), which might constitute rich REE ores. Light REEs in the carbonatite are enriched and highly fractionated relative to heavy REEs and there is no Eu anomaly. The REE and trace element distribution patterns of the carbonatite are identical to those of fine-grained dolomite marble which is the host rock of the Bayan Obo REE-Nb-Fe superlarge mineral deposit. This indicates a petrogenetic linkage between the REE-rich carbonatite and the mineralizations in this region.
