Changes in insomnia severity with advanced PAP therapy in patients with posttraumatic stress symptoms and comorbid sleep apnea:A retrospective,nonrandomized controlled study

＜正＞Purpose: Radiation induced bystander effects may play an important role in cancer risks associated with environmental, occupational and medical exposures and they may also present a therapeutic opportunity to modulate the efficacy of radiotherapy. However the mechanisms underpinning these responses in tumor and normal cells are poorly understood. This study investigated the signalling factors involved in the bystander response of chromosome damage in the cell lines with different genotypes. Reconstructing the Holocene megaflood history is a key component of understanding the mechanism of past climate change and assessing the potential impact of future catastrophic *** Pearl River is the longest watercourse in southern China,and its lower reach has been identified as one of the world's most vulnerable regions for flood ***,there is a complete lack of millennial-scale geological records of paleomegafloods for the future prediction of once-in-a-hundred(even once-in-a-thousand)year floods in southern ***,we identified a series of paleomegaflood deposits interbedded with wood-rich peat layers in the lower West Pearl River *** paleoflood layers have been well dated using AMS~(14)C dating *** to the regional correlation of the flood sequence,sediment characteristics and provenance analysis,there have been at least 7 megafloods corresponding to once-in-a-thousand-year events in the lower reaches of the West Pearl River during the past 6000 years,with an average return period of approximately 855 *** identified paleomegafloods were coeval with periods of strong El Ni?o-Southern Oscillation(ENSO),indicating that weakening of the Asian summer monsoon,associated with enhanced ENSO variability,may have triggered abnormally high precipitation leading to flooding of exceptional magnitude in southern *** addition,the most prominent paleomegafloods identified in the lower Pearl River coincided with intervals of lower precipitation and fewer storms in central-eastern China,indicating the intensification of the meridional“tripole”pattern of precipitation across eastern China during the latter half of the *** land use and deforestation over the last 2000 years have resulted in soil loss and rapid degradation of local primeval forest ecosystems,leading to more catastrophic *** amounts of rice pollen in the uppermost flood layer during the Song dynasty indicate that this megaflood may have inu

目的:胸腹主动脉瘤(TAAA)的治疗依然是外科中最富挑战性的工作,特别是存在退行性变动脉瘤的老年患者同时患肺疾病更是如此。这篇更新后的单中心报道是关于我们对高危TAAA患者采用完全内脏动脉去分支化结合动脉瘤腔内隔绝的杂交修复术经验。方法:从2005年3月—2012年6月间58名患者在单中心接受解剖外内脏血管去分支化及随后的动脉瘤腔内隔绝术。内脏旁路的中位数为4支,最初的33例采用同期手术方式,而最近的25例采用分期手术。结果:患者中位年龄为69.0岁,50%为女性,所有患者存在严重合并症而不适合传统开放修复术。平均主动脉直径(6.7±1.2)cm,30 d/住院病死率、脑卒中率、永久性轻瘫/截瘫率分别为9%、0%以及4%。最近25例分期手术患者的这三种并发症率分别为4%、0%以及0%。平均随访时间(26±21)个月,内脏人工血管通畅率95.3%,所有闭塞的内脏人工血管均为肾动脉,无1例引起永久性截瘫,2例患者需再干预,1例出现Ib型内漏,1例出现III型内漏,5年免于再干预率为94%,Kaplan-Meier总体生存率为1年78%、5年62%,5年主动脉相关生存率为87%。结论:这些更新后的结果 ,继续支撑着这一观点:运用完全内脏动脉去分支联合动脉瘤腔内隔绝的杂交技术治疗高龄且不适合传统开放手术的高危TAAA患者是一种理想的选择,而采取分期手术的方式能取得更佳的结果。

Over 95% of plastid proteins are nuclear-encoded as their precursors containing an N-terminal extension known as the transit peptide （TP）. Although highly variable, TPs direct the precursors through a conserved, posttranslational mechanism involving translocons in the outer （TOC） and inner envelope （TOC）. The organelle import specificity is mediated by one or more components of the Toc complex. However, the high TP diversity creates a paradox on how the sequences can be specifically recognized. An emerging model of TP design is that they contain multiple loosely conserved motifs that are recognized at different steps in the targeting and transport process. Bioinformatics has demonstrated that many TPs contain semiconserved physicochemical motifs, termed FGLK. In order to characterize FGLK motifs in TP recognition and import, we have analyzed two well-studied TPs from the precursor of RuBisCO small subunit （SStp） and ferredoxin （Fdtp）. Both SStp and Fdtp contain two FGLK motifs. Analysis of large set mutations （-85） in these two motifs using in vitro, in organello, and in vivo approaches support a model in which the FGLK domains mediate interaction with TOC34 and possibly other TOC components. In vivo import analysis suggests that multiple FGLK motifs are functionally redundant. Furthermore, we discuss how FGLK motifs are required for efficient precursor protein import and how these elements may permit a convergent function of this highly variable class of targeting sequences.

Evaluation of fatty acid metabolism and innate immunity interactions between commercial broiler, F1 layer × broiler cross and commercial layer strains selected for different growth potentials

Background： The broiler industry has undergone intense genetic selection over the past 50 yr. resulting in improvements for growth and feed efficiency, however, significant variation remains for performance and growth traits. Production improvements have been coupled with unfavourable metabolic consequences, including immunological trade-offs for growth, and excess fat deposition. To determine whether interactions between fatty acid（FA） metabolism and innate immunity may be associated with performance variations commonly seen within commercial broiler flocks, total carcass lipid %, carcass and blood FA composition, as wel as genes involved with FA metabolism, immunity and cel ular stress were investigated in male birds of a broiler strain, layer strain and F1 layer × broiler cross at d 14 post hatch. Heterophil：lymphocyte ratios, relative organ weights and bodyweight data were also ***： Broiler bodyweight（n = 12） was four times that of layers（n = 12） by d 14 and had significantly higher carcass fat percentage compared to the cross（n = 6; P = 0.002） and layers（P = 0.017） which were not significantly different from each other（P = 0.523）. The carcass and whole blood FA analysis revealed differences in the FA composition between the three groups indicating altered FA metabolism, despite al being raised on the same diet. Genes associated with FA synthesis andβ-oxidation were upregulated in the broilers compared to the layers indicating a net overal increase in FA metabolism,which may be driven by the larger relative liver size as a percentage of bodyweight in the broilers.
