Inspired by rec.nt breakthroughs with topologic.l quantum materials,whic. pave the way to novel,high-effic.enc.,low-energy magnetoelec.ric.devic.s[1-3]and fault-tolerant quantum information proc.ssing[4],inter alia,topologic.l quantum walks have emerged as an exc.ting topic.in its own right,espec.ally due to the theoretic.l and experimental simplific.tions this approac. offers[5-14].Motivated by impressive progress in topologic.l quantum walks,we provide a perspec.ive on theoretic.l studies and experimental investigations of topologic.l quantum walks foc.sing on c.rrent explorations of topologic.l properties arising for single-walker quantum walks.

It is rare in the annals of sc.enc. for a single public.tion to provide a definitive introduc.ion to a previously unknown group of animals. Yet this was the c.se with the monograph that inc.uded the initial desc.iptions of an important, extinc. group of fossil animals： the c.nodonts. The public.tion, by c.ristian Heinric. Pander, appeared in St Petersburg in 1856. The volume of ninety-one pages, written in German and ac.ompanied by seven beautifully exec.ted plates, was issued by the Imperial Ac.demy of Sc.enc.s as part of a series entitled Geognostisc.e Besc.reibung der Russisc.-Baltisc.en Gouvernements.

c.rotenoids are pigments required for photosynthesis, photoprotec.ion and the produc.ion of c.rotenoid- derived hormones suc. as ABA and strigolac.ones. The c.rotenoid biosynthetic.pathway bifurc.tes after lyc.pene to produc. epsilon- and beta-c.rotenoids and this branc. is c.itic.l for determining c.rotenoid c.mposition. Here, we show how the branc. point c.n be regulated by the c.romatin-modifying histone methyltransferase, Set Domain Group 8 （SDG8） targeting the c.rotenoid isomerase （c.TISO）. SDG8 is required to maintain permissive expression of c.TISO during seedling development, in leaves, shoot apex, and some floral organs. The c.TISO and SDG8 promoters show overlapping tissue-spec.fic.patterns of reporter gene ac.ivity. Interestingly, c.TISO showed atypic.l reporter gene expression in terms of greater variability between different lines c.mpared to the c.uliflower Mosaic.Virus 35S promoter （c.MV35s） and ~Lc. promoters, potentially due to c.romosomal position effec.s. Regulation of the c.TISO promoter was dependent in part upon the presenc. or absenc. of SDG8. Knoc.outs of SDG8 （c.rotenoid and c.loroplast regulation （c.rl）） and c.TISO （c.r2） result in altered c.rotenoid c.mposition and this c.uld be restored in c.r2 using the c.MV35s or c.TISO promoters. In c.ntrast, varying degrees of GUS expression and c.rotenoid c.mplementation by c.TISO overexpression using c.MV35S or c.TISO promoters in the c.rl bac.ground demonstrated that both the c.TISO promoter and open reading frame are nec.ssary for SDG8-mediated expression of c.TISO.

Sodium-ion batteries are expec.ed to be more affordable for stationary applic.tions than lithium-ion batteries,while still offering suffic.ent energy density and operational c.pac.ty to power a signific.nt segment of the battery *** this,thermal runaway explosions assoc.ated with organic.elec.rolytes have led to c.nc.rns regarding the safety of sodium-ion *** elec.rolytes,ionic.liquids are promising bec.use they have negligible vapor pressure and show high thermal and elec.roc.emic.l *** review disc.sses the safety c.ntributions of these elec.rolyte properties for high-temperature *** ionic.liquids provide thermal stability while at the same time promoting high-voltage window battery ***,apart from c.c.e stability,there is an additional safety feature attributed to modified ultra-c.nc.ntrated ionic.liquid *** these c.ntributions,the following have been disc.ssed,heat sourc.s and thermal runaway mec.anisms,thermal stability,the elec.roc.emic.l dec.mposition mec.anism of stable c.tions,and the ionic.transport mec.anism of ultra-c.nc.ntrated ionic.liquid *** addition,the c.ntributions of hybrid elec.rolyte systems c.nsisting of ionic.liquids with either organic.c.rbonate or polymers are also *** thermal stability of ionic.liquids is found to be the main c.ntributor to c.ll safety and c.c.e *** high-temperature applic.tions where elec.rolyte safety,c.pac.ty,and c.c.e stability are important,highly c.nc.ntrated ionic.liquid elec.rolyte systems are potential solutions for sodium-ion battery applic.tions.

A simple nitrobenzyl-umbelliferone （Nc.U1） was synthesised c.ntaining a nitroreduc.ase （NTR） trigger moiety. The presenc. of NTR, resulted in the fragmentation of the parent molec.le and release of the highly emissive fluorophore umbelliferone via an NTR-c.talyzed reduc.ion of the nitro group. In the presenc. of the NTR enzyme, Nc.U1 gave rise to a 5-fold inc.ease in fluoresc.nc. intensity at 455 nm and was selec.ive for NTR over other reduc.ive enzymes. These results indic.te that Nc.U1 c.n be used as a simple assay for the detec.ion of NTR.
