Integral to the urban ecosystem,greening trees provide many ecological benefits,but the active biogenic volatile organic compounds(BVOcs)they release contribute to the production of ozone and secondary organic aerosols,which harm ambient air *** is,therefore,necessary to understand the BVOc emission characteristics of dominant greening tree species and their relative contribution to secondary pollutants in various urban ***,this study utilized a dynamic enclosure system to collect BVOc samples of seven dominant greening tree species in urban chengdu,Southwest *** chromatography/mass spectrometry was used to analyze the BVOc components and standardized BVOc emission rates of each tree species were then calculated to assess their relative potential to form secondary *** found obvious differences in the composition of BVOcs emitted by each *** virens displayed a high isoprene emission rate at31.472μgc/(gdw(g dry weight)·hr),while cinnamomum camphora emitted high volumes of D-Limonene at 93.574μgc/(gdw·hr).In terms of the BVOc emission rates by leaf area,*** had the highest emission rate of total BVOcs at 13,782.59μgc/(m^(2)·hr),followed by cedrus deodara with 5466.86μgc/(m^(2)·hr).Ginkgo biloba and Osmanthus fragrans mainly emitted oxygenated VOcs with lower overall emission *** high BVOc emitters like ***,***,and Magnolia grandiflora have high potential for significantly contributing to environmental secondary pollutants,so should be cautiously considered for future *** study provides important implications for improving urban greening efforts for subtropical chinese urban contexts,like chengdu.

cashew tree has gradually moved from a purely ecological aspect to a socio-economic one, due to the marketing of its nuts. But production per area, estimated at between 424 and 547 kg/ha, remains low, in contrast to India (2nd largest producer) and Vietnam (3rd largest producer), whose yields range from 1000 to 1500 and 2000 to 2500 kg/ha respectively. This low yield is due to a number of factors, among which insect pests are the most damaging. Among these insects, termites are considered to be one of the main pests of cashew trees. The general objective of this study is to contribute to termite management through the use of bioinsecticides, an alternative to the use of chemicals in cashew orchards. Five (5) biological products were tested: Limocide, carapa oil, Neem oil, Kitana and Kaskara. Among them, two products proved effective, with a mortality rate of over 50%. These were Limocide, whose Lc50 was obtained in 24 h at a dose of 3.6 g/ml and 3.1 g/ml , giving a mortality rate of 57.66% ± 4.04% and 51.33 ± 2.08 respectively , and carapa, at a dose of 4.5 g/ml, with an estimated mortality rate of 52.33% ± 1.52%. Such results have demonstrated the potential application of Limocide and carapa biopesticides to sustainably control termites in cashew orchards of côte d’Ivoire.

Numan is an urban center in Adamawa State North-Eastern Nigeria. Its waste characteristics are similar to other places in sub-Saharan Africa. In this paper, the physico-chemical characterization of municipal solid waste generated in Numan Town was carried out to estimate the electrical power to be generated from it. The solid waste types were observed to comprise of polythene (27%), organic waste (24.1%), plastic (10.2%), textile (13.2%), paper (9.8%), glass (9.3%) and metals (6.4%). The moisture content as discarded and daily average solid waste generation rate are 16.49% and 0.583 kg/sec respectively. The chemical formula with and without water was determined as c923.28H1632.60O258.28N12.89S and c923.28H2099.70O494.16N12.89S respectively. The suitability of the municipal solid waste as a possible source of electrical power was also considered. The energy content of the solid waste on ash free dry-basis was determined as 20861.48 kJ/kg. The estimated power generation per day using incinerating plant at an assumed efficiency of 25% was 3031.5 kW.

Application of Machine Learning Techniques for Okra Shelf Life Prediction

The ability of machine learning techniques to make accurate predications is increasing. The aim of this work is to apply machine learning techniques such as Support Vector Machine, Naïve Bayes, Decision Tree, Logistic Regression, and K-Nearest Neighbour algorithms to predict the shelf life of Okra. Predicting the shelf life of Okra is important because Okra becomes harmful for human consumption if consumed after its shelf life. Okra parameters such as weight loss, firmness, Titrable Acid, Total Soluble Solids, Vitamin c/Ascorbic acid content, and PH were used as inputs into these machine learning techniques. Support Vector Machine, Naïve Bayes and Decision Tree each accurately predicted the shelf life of Okra with accuracies of 100%. However, the Logistic Regression and K-Nearest Neighbour achieved 88.89% and 88.33% accuracies, respectively. These results showed that machine learning techniques especially Support Vector Machine, Naïve Bayes and Decision Tree can be effectively applied for the prediction of Okra shelf life.

This study aims to develop infant flours fortified with iron and vitamin A, taken from local products such as powder from dried Moringa oleifera leaves and pulps of Parkia biglobosa to improve the nutritional status of children aged 6 to 24 months. chemical analyses show that, for 100 g of local flours destined for children, there are adequate protein levels (between 7.00 ± 0.44 and 12.69 ± 0.44 g) and fat content (between 7.52 ± 0.35 and 16.26 ± 0.84 g), but that there are low levels of b-carotene and certain micronutrients Zn (0.67 ± 0.01 to 2.51 ± 0.19 mg), Fe (7.11 ± 0.90 to 12.70 ± 0.56 mg), ca (0.67 ± 0.01 to 2.51 ± 0.19 mg), Mg (6.79 ± 0.19 to 24.99 ± 1.75 mg). Analyses of minerals and vitamins showed that Moringa oleifera leaf-powder (per 100 g) is rich in calcium (1443.90 ± 11.03 mg), magnesium (176.72 ± 0.73 mg), iron (53.75 ± 5.07 mg), zinc (17.58 ± 0.89 mg) and b-carotene (624.40 ± 0.41 μg ER). 100 g of Parkia biglobosa’s pulps is rich in magnesium (73.00 ± 1.14 mg), iron (14.82 ± 2.49 mg), zinc (7.79 ± 0.44 mg) and vitamin c (75.29 ± 0.00 mg). In conclusion, we believe that these two ingredients can be effectively used to fortify local infant flours in vitamin A and iron and contribute to eradicating malnutrition due to micronutrients deficiencies.

AIM: To determine the prevalence of hepatitis B virus (HBV) in adult human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) patients with cD4+ T-cell count less than 500/mm 3 and without antiretroviral therapy; to describe different HBV-HIV coinfection virological profiles; and to search for factors associated with HBs antigen (HBsAg) presence in these HIV positive ***: During four months (June through September 2006), 491 patients were received in four HIV positive monitoring clinical centers in Abidjan. Inclusion criteria: HIV-1 or HIV-1 and 2 positive patients, age ≥ 18 years, cD4+ T-cell count consent of the patient. Realized blood tests included HIV serology, cD4+ T-cell count, quantitative HIV RNA load and HBV serological markers, such as HBsAg and HBc antibody (anti-HBcAb). We performed HBeAg, anti-HBe antibody (anti-HBeAb), anti-HBc IgM and quantitative HBV DNA load in HBsAg positive patients. Anti-HBsAb had been tested in HIV patients with HBsAg negative and anti-HBcAb-positive. HBV DNA was also tested in 188 anti-HBcAb positive patients with HBsAg negative status and without anti-HBsAb. Univariate analysis (Pearsonχ 2 test or Fischer exact test) and multivariate analysis (backward step-wise selection logistic regression) were performed as statistical analysis. RESULTS: Mean age of 491 patients was 36 ± 8.68 years and 73.3% were female. Type-1 HIV was found in 97% and dual-type HIV (type 1 plus type 2) in 3%. World Health Organization (WHO) clinical stage was 1, 2, 3 and 4 respectively in 61 (12.4%), 233 (47.5%), 172 (35%) and 25 patients (5.1%). Median cD4+ T-cell count was 341/mm 3 (interquartile range: 221-470). One hundred and twelve patients had less than 200 cD4+ T-cell/mm 3 . Plasma HIV-1 RNA load was elevated (≥ 5 log 10 copies/mL) in 221 patients (45%). HBsAg and anti-HBcAb prevalence was respectively 13.4% and 72.9%.
