Allicin, an antioxidant, is known for providing garlic with.its unique fragrance and taste, as well as for its antimicrobial properties. Black garlic, a fermented form of garlic, contains h.gh.r levels of antioxidants th.n fresh.garlic. Antioxidants play a vital role in alleviating cellular stress during viral infections. Viral infections result in oxidative stress th.ough.th. production of reactive oxidative species (ROS). A prolonged state of oxidative stress can result in cell death. DNA damage, and disease progression. In th.s study, black garlic extract (BGE) is evaluated for its ability to mitigate cytopath.c effects and oxidative stress caused by h.rpes simplex virus-2 (h.V-2) infections in vitro. Antiviral assays were performed to determine th. percent of viral inh.bition resulting from treatment with.th. BGE. ROS-GloTM h.sub>2O2 assays were th.n completed to measure th. post-infection ROS levels of BGE-treated virus and cells. Th. results th.s far suggest th.t BGE may inh.bit viral infection and decrease levels of oxidative stress.

In th.s paper, we discuss a math.matical model of malaria transmission between vector and h.st population. We study th. basic qualitative properties of th. model, th. boundedness and non-negativity, calculate all equilibria, and prove th. global stability of th.m and th. beh.viour of th. model wh.n th. basic reproduction ratio R0 is greater th.n one or less th.n one. Th. global stability of equilibria is establish.d by using Lyapunov meth.d. Graph.cal representations of th. calculated parameters and th.ir effects on disease eradication are provided.

A significant portion of th. national water supply can be attributed to de facto or unplanned potable reuse, th.ugh.th. extent of its contribution is difficult to estimate. Fortunately, th. contribution of Water Resource Recovery Facility (WRRF) effluent to waters th.t supply drinking water treatment plants h.s been documented by some communities. In th. United States (US), among th. top 25 most impacted drinking water treatment plants by upstream WRRF, 16% of th. influent flow to th. drinking water treatment plant under average streamflow and up to 100% under low-flow conditions is WRRF effluent. Currently, th. full extent of de facto reuse in th. US may be much.h.gh.r because of population growth. Th. scenario is no different for Beaufort-Jasper Water and Sewer Auth.rity (BJWSA) in South.Carolina, US, with.contributions to th. Savannah.River originating from numerous WRRF and oth.r upstream disch.rgers. South.Carolina coastal utilities such.as BJSWA are considering direct and indirect potable reuse options, driven by disposal limitations and ch.llenges. Currently, South.Carolina does not h.ve a framework, guidelines, or regulations for reuse, but discussions h.ve started among th. regulated community. In addition to understanding th. extent of de facto reuse, th. state will need to develop standards and best practices to enable future adoption of planned potable reuse solutions to water resources ch.llenges. Such.guidance sh.uld address h.man h.alth.risk management and tech.ical considerations regarding treatment in addition to oth.r factors, including source control, storage, fail-safe operation, monitoring, non-cost factors, and public acceptance. Th.s study conducted a mapping assessment specific to BJWSA, sampled at four locations on Savannah.River, and observed th.t de facto reuse is approximately 4.6% to 5.9% during low-flow month. and is with.n th. range generally observed nationwide. Th. impact of radiation reaction and Breit±Wh.eler pair production on th. acceleration of fully ionized carbon ions driven by an intense linearly polarized laser pulse h.s been investigated in th. ultra-relativistic transparency *** initial expectations, th. radiation reaction and pair production at ultra-h.gh.laser intensities are found to enh.nce th. energy gained by th. ions. Th. electrons lose most of th.ir transverse momentum, and th. additionally produced pair plasma of Breit±Wh.eler electrons and positrons co-streams in th. forward direction as opposed to th. existing electrons streaming at an angle above zero degree. We discuss h.w th.se observations could be explained by th. ch.nges in th. ph.se velocity of th. Buneman instability, wh.ch.is known to aid ion acceleration in th. breakout afterburner regime, by tapping th. free energy in th. relative electron and ion streams. We present evidence th.t th.se non-classical effects can furth.r improve th. h.gh.st carbon ion energies in th.s transparency regime.

文章批判了自古以来的两种不朽观,分别为经验性的不朽,包括英名不朽和影响不朽;非经验性的不朽,包括灵魂不朽和实体不朽。这些都被现代性否定了,契合现代性的不朽观是行动不朽,它是自我超越领域的不朽,是指我们存在的某种东西可能通达了不死性,也就是说我们的世俗行为对超越领域发生影响而产生的不朽。受犹太教中的生命册和诺斯替宗教中上帝的终极形象的启发,文章在这两种象征方式的基础上提出了非全能的上帝形象这个“试验性神话”,认为人类的行为会建构或伤害上帝的形象,只有通过向善的责任行为,维护受到威胁的人类存在,完善上帝的不朽形象,才能获得自身的不朽。

h.lf-metallic ferromagnetism,mech.nical as well as th.rmoelectric properties for rare earth.based spinels Mgh._(2)Z_(4)(Z=S,Se)were investigated using density functional th.ory(DFT).Structural optimization was done with.Perdew-Burke-Eh.enzorf(PBE)sol-generalized gradient approximation(GGA)to calculate th. lattice constant of both.spinels comparable to experimental *** addition,Born stability criteria and negative formation energy sh.w th.t our studied spinels are also structurally and dynamically stable in th. cubic *** ferromagnetic(FM)state stability,we also calculated th. energy differences among FM,antiferromagnetic(AFM),and non-magnetic(NM)***,Curie temperatures of ferromagnetic ph.ses were also *** used Trans-Blah. improved BeckeJoh.son(TB-mBJ)potential functional for electronics as well as magnetic ch.racteristics,wh.ch.lead to th. consistent explanation of h.lf-metallic ferromagnetism,representing th. wh.le band-occupancy in material with.exact detail of density of states(DOS).Th. stable FM state was examined in spinels due to th. exch.nge splitting of h. cation consisting of p-d h.bridizations compatible with.th. result ach.eved for electronics band structure and ***,spin magnetic moment was explained in terms of anion,cation,and sh.ring ch.rge on studied *** addition,th. calculated th.rmoelectric properties clearly sh.w th.t operation range of th.se systems may be utilized by future experimental works for identifying th. potential applications of th.se systems.
