The goal of the work was to investigate the concentrations of the 16 US EPA priority polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons（PAH） bound to submicrometer particles（particulate matter, Pm1） suspended in the air of university teaching rooms and in the atmospheric air outside. Two teaching rooms were selected in two Polish cities, Gliwice, southern Poland,and Warsaw, central Poland, differing with regard to the ambient concentrations and major sources of Pm and PAH. The variabilities of indoor and outdoor 24-hr concentrations of Pm1-bound PAH, the ratio（I/O） of the indoor to outdoor 24-hr concentrations of Pm1-bound PAH, probable sources of PAH and the level of the hazard from the mixture of the 16 PAH（ΣPAH） to humans at both sites were analyzed. In both Warsaw and Gliwice, the mean concentrations of Pm1-bound ΣPAH were slightly higher in the atmospheric air than in the rooms. The indoor and outdoor concentrations of individual PAH in Gliwice were correlated,in Warsaw – they were not. most probably, the lack of the correlations in Warsaw was due to the existence of an unidentified indoor source of gaseous PAH enriching Pm1 in phenanthrene, fluorene, and pyrene. Although the ambient concentrations of Pm1-bound PAH were low compared to the ones observed earlier at both sites, they were much higher than in other urbanized European areas. However, because of low mass share of heavy PAH in ΣPAH, the various indicators of the health hazard from the 16 PAH mixture were low compared to other regions.

AImTo evaluate the long-term treatment outcomes of tenofovir therapy in patients in a real world Australian tertiary care setting. mETHODSWe performed a retrospective analysis of treatment outcomes among treatment-naïve and treatment-experienced patients receiving a minimum 3 mo tenofovir therapy through St Vincent’s Hospital melbourne, Australia. We included patients receiving tenofovir [tenofovir disoproxil fumarate (TDF)] monotherapy, as well as patients treated with TDF in combination with a second antiviral agent. Patients were excluded if they demonstrated human immune-deficiency virus/hepatitis C virus/hepatitis delta virus coinfection or were less than 18 years of age. We considered virological and biochemical response, as well as safety outcomes. Virological response was determined by measurement of hepatitis B virus (HBV) DNA using sensitive assays; biochemical response was determined via serum liver function tests; histological response was determined from liver biopsy and fibroscan; safety analysis focused on glomerular renal function and bone mineral density. The primary efficacy endpoint was complete virological suppression over time, defined by HBV DNA RESULTSNinety-two patients were identified who fulfilled the enrolment criteria. median follow-up was 26 mo (range 3-114). mean age was 46 (24-78) years, 64 (70%) were male and 77 (84%) were of Asian origin. 55 (60%) patients were treatment-naïve and 62 patients (67%) were HBeAg-negative. Complete virological suppression was achieved by 45/65 (71%) patients at 12 mo, 37/46 (80%) at 24 mo and 25/28 (89%) at 36 mo. Partial virological response (HBV DNA 20-2000 IU/mL) was achieved by 89/92 (96.7%) of patients. multivariate analysis showed a significant relationship between virological suppression at end of follow-up and baseline HBV DNA level (OR = 0.897, 95%CI: 0.833-0.967, P = 0.0046) and HBeAg positive status (OR = 0.373, 95%CI: 0.183-0.762, P = 0.0069). The perceptions of fishers towards the Arrábida marine Park,a marine protected area(mPA)in the west coast of Portugal,were studied through face-to-face interviews in two different moments of the mPA life ***'perceptions about the mPA and the impact it had on the fishing activity over time were identified just before the full implementation of the zoning and regulations of the management plan and 10 years *** study aimed to investigate fishers'knowledge,acceptance and perceptions about the mPA changed with time,if support for the mPA was linked to the impact of the mPA on the fishing activity,and if fishers'perceptions about the impact of the mPA on the fishing activity match with local landings *** show that although knowledge about the marine park significantly improved over time,fishers'acceptance did not.A decrease on fishers'support was not substantial but *** such as the disagreement with regulations reinforced concerns raised during the implementation of the marine park,particularly in relation to the top-down decision-making,which commonly confers minor participation,recognition and legitimacy to ***,fisheries benefits were still not perceived by local fishers,though they are central for fishers'***,the perceived negative impacts of the park seemed to be more related to social aspects and individual interests than to impacts on *** adequate management,enforcement and participation of local fishers is still possible and are advocated here as to contribute to the expected socioecological outcomes and respective support,leading to the future successful performance of the Arrábida marine *** fishers’perceptions towards an mPA over time is central and should be included on periodical socioecological monitoring and inform an effective adaptive management.

Experimental evidence indicates that chronic mechanical sub-occlusion of the intestine may damage the enteric nervous system （ENS）, although data in humans are lacking. We here describe the first case of enteric degenerative neuropathy related to a congenital obstruction of the gut. A 3-year and 9-mo old girl began to complain of vomiting, abdominal distension, constipation with air-fluid levels at plane abdominal radiology. Her subsequent medical history was characterized by 3 operations： the first showed dilated duodeno-jejunal loops in the absence of occlusive lesions; the second （2 years later） was performed to obtain full-thickness biopsies of the dilated intestinal loops and revealed hyperganglionosis at histopathology; the third （9 years after the hyperganglionosis was identified） disclosed a Ladd＇s band which was removed and the associated gut malrotation was corrected. Repeated intraoperative full-thickness biopsies showed enteric degenerative neuropathy along with reduced interstitial cells of Cajal network in dilated loops above the obstruction and a normal neuromuscular layer below the Ladd＇s band. One year after the latest surgery the patient tolerated oral feeding and did well, suggesting that congenital （partial） mechanical obstruction of the small bowel in humans can evoke progressive adaptive changes of the ENS which are similar to those found in animal models of intestinal mechanical occlusion. Such ENS changes mimic neuronal abnormalities observed in intestinal pseudoobstruction.

Present-day along-strike heterogeneities within the Himalayan orogen are seen at many scales, from variations within the deep architecture of the lithospheric mantle, to differences in geomorphologic surface processes. Here, we present an internally consistent petrochronologic dataset from the Himalayan metamorphic core(HmC), in order to document and investigate the causes of along-strike variations in its Oligocene-miocene tectonic history. Laser ablation split-stream analysis was used to date and characterise the geochemistry of titanite from 47 calc-silicate rocks across >2000 km along the *** combined U-Pb-REE-Zr single mineral dataset circumvents uncertainties associated with interpretations based on data compilations from different studies, mineral systems and laboratories, and allows for direct along-strike comparisons in the timing of metamorphic processes. Titanite dates range from ～30 ma to 12 ma, recording(re-)crystallization between 625 ℃ and 815 ℃. Titanite T-t data overlap with previously published P-T-t paths from interleaved peltic rocks, demonstrating the usefulness of titanite petrochronology for recording the metamorphic history in lithologies not traditionally used for thermobarometry. Overall, the data indicate a broad eastward-younging trend along the *** in the duration and timing of metamorphism within the HmC are best explained by alongstrike variations in the position of ramps on the basal detachment controlling a two-stage process of preferential ductile accretion at depth followed by the formation of later upper-crust brittle *** processes, coupled with variable erosion, resulted in the asymmetric exhumation of a younger,thicker crystalline core in the eastern Himalaya.

Gastric B-cell lymphoma of the mucosa associated lym-phoid tissue(mALT) lymphoma is one of the most com-mon forms of extranodal *** addition to in-fection with Helicobacter pylori(***),the presence of an underlying autoimmune disease has also been associated with mALT lymphoma *** date,no familial predisposition for mALT lymphomas has been reported as opposed to other types of lymphoma.A 65-year-old woman was admitted at our institution in 1998 with a diagnosis of *** positive gastric mALT lymphoma and the presence of chronic autoim-mune thyroiditis was established on further *** eradication did not result in regression of the lymphoma and RT-PCR showed the presence of the t(11;18)(q21;q21) *** 1.5 years after *** eradication,chemotherapy with cladribine resulted in complete *** to lymphoma re-currence 13 mo later,radiotherapy to the stomach(46 Gy) resulted in minimal residual disease without further *** patient developed a second malig-nancy(Epstein-Bar virus-associated anaplastic large cell lymphoma in the mediastinum) in 2004 which initially responded to two courses of chemotherapy,but she re-fused further therapy and died of progressive lympho-ma in *** 2008,her 55 years old daughter with a long standing Sj gren's syndrome was diagnosed with mALT lymphoma of the right parotid,but no evidence of gastric involvement or *** infection was ***,she is alive without therapy and undergoing regular *** our knowledge,this is the first report of mALT lymphoma in a f irst-degree relative of a patient with gastric mALT lymphoma in the context of two autoimmune diseases without a clearly established familial background.

Numerous transmethylation reactions are required for normal plant growth and development. S-adenosylhomocysteine hydrolase （SAHH） and adenosine kinase （ADK） act coordinately to recycle the by-product of these reactions, S-adenosylhomocysteine （SAH） that would otherwise competitively inhibit methyltransferase （mT） activities. Here, we report on investigations to understand how the SAH produced in the nucleus is metabolized by SAHH and ADK. Localization analyses using green fluorescent fusion proteins demonstrated that both enzymes are capable of localizing to the cytoplasm and the nucleus, although no obvious nuclear localization signal was found in their sequences. Deletion analysis revealed that a 41-amino-acid segment of SAHH （GlylS^-Lys19~） is required for nuclear targeting of this enzyme. This segment is surface exposed, shows unique sequence conservation patterns in plant SAHHs, and possesses additional features of protein-protein interaction motifs. ADK and SAHH interact in Arabidopsb via this segment and also interact with an mRNA cap mT. We propose that the targeting of this complex is directed by the nuclear localization signal of the mT; other mTs may similarly target SAHH/ADK to other subcellular compartments to ensure uninterrupted transmethylation.
