Nearly a century ago,the 1918 influenza pandemic was regarded as the most severe pandemic in recent history.1 The virus,known as H1N1,infected 500 million persons worldwide and claimed an estimated 50 million *** pandemic lasted nearly 2 years with sporadic activity characterized by 3 waves of *** 100 years later,in January 2020,we found ourselves in the midst of another global pandemic,the novel coronavirus(coronavirus disease-2019,COVID-19).2 Within 5 months of outbreak,COVID-19 has infected over 6 million persons worldwide with over 380,000 confirmed deaths.3 While nearly every region of the world has experienced the virus,european and North and South American countries are among the most impacted countries with the greatest burden of COVID-19 in terms of the incidence and mortality.4 Among the most vulnerable populations,older adults and persons with serious underlying medical conditions or compromised immune systems are at greatest risk of contracting COVID-19.5 In addition,people living in densely populated areas or rural areas with poor access to health care,living in congregate housing and multi-generational households,and those who work in the service industry also have a high risk for contracting COVID-19.6 This includes many racial and ethnic minorities,immigrants,and refugees.

In the September 2022 issue of the Journal of Sport and Health Science,Ayala et al.1 published results from a cross-sectional study where they tested the hypothesis that light intensity physical activity(LIPA,1.6-2.9 metabolic equivalents(MeTs))moderates the relationship between sitting time and adiposity in 219 Australian adolescents aged 14±1.6 years(mean±SD).

Carbon materials were used as supports for Ag catalysts that are prepared using the conventional wet impregnation method, and their catalytic properties for CO selective oxidation in excess hydrogen at temperatures below 483 K were tested. A variety of techniques, e.g. N2 adsorption, XPS, TPD, UV-Vis DRS, TeM and SeM, were used to determine the influence of physical and chemical properties of the carbon on the properties of Ag catalyst. It was found that defects on the carbon surface served as nucleation sites for silver ions, while functional groups on carbon surface induced their reduction to the metallic form. The formation of silver particles on carbon was governed by homogeneous and/or heterogeneous nucleation during the impregnation and subsequent activation processes. The best catalytic performance was obtained with a Ag/carbon black catalyst with a uniform size distribution of silver nanoparticles （about 12 nm）, moderate BeT surface area （with a mesoporous structure）, and a limited amount of carbon-oxygen groups. The research indicates that carbon materials are potentially good supports for silver catalysts for preferential oxidation of CO in excess hydrogen.
