Introduction:Repeat positive severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2)following COVID-19 initial viral clearance(repositivity)poses a public health management *** objective was to determine factors associated with neutralizing antibody(Nab)level and re-positivity among patients infected with a single strain ***:During a single strain SARS-CoV-2 cluster in Beijing,China,longitudinal individual clinical,virological,and immunological data were collected from 368 infections from June 13 to September 22,*** associated with Nab level and re-positivity were analyzed using generalized estimating ***:A total of 353(96%)SARS-CoV-2 infections had demographic,clinical,and laboratory data *** the 353 infections,55(15.5%)were re-positive,and blood draws were taken from 346 individuals(98.0%)during hospitalization and/or during the follow-up *** were milder for the second-time admission for the re-positives,although 36.4%of re-positives presented with radiographic appearance of pneumonia *** to non-re-positive patients,NAb titers were lower among re-positives;NAb was positively associated with clinical *** from the lower respiratory tract manifested higher viral load than that from the upper respiratory *** analysis showed re-positivity was positively associated with being female[odd ratio(OR)=1.7,95%confidence interval(CI)1.1–2.8]and being aged<18 years(OR=5.2,95%CI 1.5–18.1);having initially asymptomatic infection(OR=13.7,95%CI 1.6–116.3);and negatively associated with a higher NAb level(OR=0.9,95%CI 0.5–1.7).Conclusions:NAb may be important for sustained viral *** respiratory tract infection was associated with higher viral load among all infections when compared to upper respiratory tract *** lower respiratory and intermittent upper respiratory viral shedding among COVID-19 infections may occur.

A ciliated hepatic foregut cyst (CHFC) is a rare foregut developmental malformation usually diagnosed in adulthood. Five percent of reported cases of CHFC transform into squamous cell carcinoma. We report the presentation, evaluation, and surgical management of a symptomatic 45-year-old male found to have a 6.2 cm CHFC. Contrast tomography-guided fine-needle aspiration demonstrated columnar, ciliated epithelium consistent with the histologic diagnosis of CHFC. The intracystic levels of carbohydrate antigen (CA) 19-9 and carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) were extremely high (978118 U/mL and 973 μg/L, respectively). Histologically, the wall of the cyst showed characteristic pseudopapillae lined with a ciliated stratified columnar epithelium, underlying smooth muscle, an outer fibrous layer and no atypia. Immunohistochemistry for CA19-9 and CEA was positive. This is the first case report of a CHFC in which levels of CA 19-9 and CEA were measured. Our findings suggest that a large sized multilocular cyst and elevated cyst CA19-9 and CEA levels do not exclude a CHFC from consideration in the diagnosis. CHFCs should be included in the differential diagnosis of hepatic lesions. Accurate diagnosis of a CHFC is necessary given its potential for malignant transformation, and surgical excision is recommended.

Loss of engine power constitutes a major emergency situation in General Aviation （GA） aircraft, requiring the location of a safe-to-land strip within reach, and thereupon planning and executing an effective gliding path towards it. These critical tasks are currently entrusted with the pilot. In recent years, technological advances in avionics （GPS, GIS and computing capabilities） have reached the GA cockpit - clearing the way for safety enhancements that utilize these resources. In this paper we consider the problem of 3D trajectory planning for an engine-cut GA aircraft towards a specified airstrip, while avoiding natural or man-made obstacles. We emphasize energy efficiency, which allows the aircraft to maximally extend its reach. To that end we employ a dynamic model of the aircraft, which leads to a six- dimensional optimal control problem. We propose a computation approach that is aimed at approximating the globally optimal solution in real-time. Our approach is based on motion primitives, or basic maneuvers, which are parameterized flight segments of specified shapes which are locally optimized for energy efficiency. These basic maneuvers enable a coarse discretization of the search space, and the planning problem is reduced to a graph-search problem of tractable size which may be efficiently solved using an optimal graph search algorithm. Important computational enhancements include the use of pre-compiled basic maneuver dictionaries. The effectiveness of the proposed solution is demonstrated via simulation results.

The Role of C-Reactive Protein, Granulocyte Colony Stimulating Factor and Total Antioxidant Capacity in Diagnosis of Acute Appendicitis

Background and Aim: Despite the fact that acute appendicitis is the most common surgical emergency all around the world, its diagnosis is still based on clinical evaluation and accuracy of the diagnosis depending on experience. The aim of this study is to evaluate the role of inflammatory markers in diagnosis of acute appendicitis. Material and Method: The study includes 77 cases with histopathologically proven acute appendicitis and 17 control cases. Blood samples were obtained from all cases and C-reactive protein (CRP), Granulocyte Colony Stimulating Factor (G-CSF) and Total Antioxidant Capacity (TAC) were measured. Findings: In cases with acute appendicitis, CRP and G-CSF levels were found to be related to acute appendicitis;however, TAC was not affected by the disease process. Moreover, CRP and G-CSF levels were correlated with the disease severity. Conclusion: Both CRP and G-CSF can be used in diagnosis of acute appendicitis. Furthermore, increased CRP level can be a marker to show advanced cases. However, G-CSF is not an effective marker to show disease severity.

<i>In Vitro</i>Propagation and Recovery of Eight Apple and Two Pear Cultivars Held in a Germplasm Bank

Eight apple (Malus x domestica) and two pear (Pyrus communis) traditional cultivars of commercial interest were selected from the germplasm bank CIAM (Centro de Investigaciones Agrarias de Mabegondo, NW of Spain) one of the most important collections of The Iberian Peninsula. In order to define the establishment protocol, apical buds 1.0 - 1.5 millimetre length of the selected cultivars were established in solid mineral medium Murashige and Skoog (MS) with modified vitamins (thiamine 10X) and supplemented with 1 mg·L-1 6-benzyladenine (BA), 0.2 mg·L-1 gibberellic acid (GA3) and 0.3 mg·L-1 of indole-3-butyric acid (IBA). The highest shoot initiation rates were achieved with apple cultivar “Principe Grande” (55%) and “barburiña” pear cultivar (50%);the lowest rate was obtained with apple cultivar “Camoesa” (11%). Initiation rates for shoots culture varied between 22% and 37% for the other cultivars. The cytokinins BA, zeatin, 2-isopentyladenine (2iP) and thidiazuron (TDZ) were tested at concentrations of 0, 0.25, 0.5 and 1 mg·L-1 in the absence or presence of IBA (0.1 mg·L-1) for the multiplication step. For all cultivars, the highest multiplication rates were obtained with medium supplemented with TDZ and also in media containing BA. The in vitro rooting success of shoots in medium with 0.1 mg·L-1 IBA without cytokinins, and the survival rate of plantlets acclimatized under greenhouse conditions depended on the genotype of the different cultivars. In vitro propagation of these ten traditional apple and pear cultivars in NW Spain has not previously been reported.

E-Cadherin Dysfunction and Cancer

E-cadherin molecules are cell-cell molecular connectors, but also act attaching cell surface to the cytoskeleton through catenin’s and additional partner proteins. Its main function is to regulate cellular adhesion and motility, and therefore acts as an invasion suppressor system. Its role is crucial in the induction and maintenance of cell polarity and differentiation, and in the organization and maintenance of tissue architecture. Downregulation or loss of its function is associated with an invasive and aggressive phenotype in many types of human cancers. In alterations of animal development, E-cadherin dysfunction influence in premature lethality or epidermal barrier and immunity defects. However, new hypothesis over its promoter role in tissue invasion is on focus. In addition to its tumor suppressor role, E-cadherin is a guiding molecule in collective cell migration increasing the metastasis risk during in vivo tumorigenesis. This E-cadherin function explains the retention of the functional E-cadherin expression, and that the epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) is not required for the metastasis occurrence. However, like a switch, in some tumoral environments E-cadherin post-translational modifications may cause cell cluster migration. Like in development, in certain in vivo tumoral contexts, E-cadherin apparently involves signaling rather than cell contact formation. In this report, we explore the possibility of a novel role of thyroid hormones (THs) in the signal via E-cadherin-catenins, this not only should be involved in development and homeostasis, but also in cancer susceptibility of gastrointestinal tract.

Developing an Evolutionary Algorithm to Search for an Optimal Multi-Mother Wavelet Packets Combination

The wavelet transform is a popular analysis tool for non-stationary data, but in many cases, the choice of the mother wavelet and basis set remains uncertain, particularly when dealing with physiological data. Furthermore, the possibility exists for combining information from numerous mother wavelets so as to exploit different features from the data. However, the combinatorics become daunting given the large number of basis sets that can be utilized. Recent work in evolutionary computation has produced a subset selection genetic algorithm specifically aimed at the discovery of small, high-performance, subsets from among a large pool of candidates. Our aim was to apply this algorithm to the task of locating subsets of packets from multiple mother wavelet decompositions to estimate cardiac output from chest wall motions while avoiding the computational cost of full signal reconstruction. We present experiments which show how a continuous assessment metric can be extracted from the wavelets coefficients, but the dual-objective nature of the algorithm (high accuracy with small feature sets) imposes a need to restrict the sensitivity of the continuous accuracy metric in order to achieve the small subset size desired. A possibly subtle tradeoff seems to be needed to meet the dual objectives.

Dynamics of Cylindrospermopsin Production and Toxin Gene Expression in Aphanizomenon ovalisporum

Aphanizomenon ovalisporum is a cylindrospermopsin (CYN)-producing cyanobacteria species that due to its increasing worldwide distribution has become an important health alarm in the last few years. Several clusters of genes involved in CYN production have been described in different CYN+ cyanobacteria genera, named aoa for Aphanizomenon and cyr for Cylindrospermopsis and others strains. The sequences of those genes are highly similar, but a rearrangement in gene order is also observed. The information on the control of CYN production by gene expression is still scarce, especially in Aphanizomenon. To obtain further information about the control of CYN production in A. ovalisporum, we have quantified the intra and extracellular CYN content, during nine days in BG11 batch cultures under optimal conditions. In parallel, the expression of four genes related to CYN synthesis, aoaA-C and cyrJ, has been analyzed by real time q-PCR. The results show a similar pattern of total CYN accumulation and gene expression. Most of the CYN is found intracellularly. Considering the high nitrogen content in the CYN molecule, we have explored if nitrogen assimilation could be related to CYN synthesis. We found inside the aoaA and aoaC sequences several putative binding domains for the global nitrogen regulator NtcA. The pattern of the ntcA expression along the culture is similar to that of CYN accumulation. Our data suggest that CYN production in A. ovalisporum seems to be controlled both by the expression of genesaoa and ntcA, this last one suggesting the influence of available nitrogen;however, other regulation mechanisms of CYN synthesis cannot be discarded.
