The cheap manganese sand was first modified by H2O2 and was further creatively utilized as Ni-based catalyst *** order to enhance the catalytic performance,Re was added into the Ni-based catalyst and the promotion effect of Re on the methanation coupling with water gas shift of biogas was investigated from the perspective of activation *** was found that CH4 and CO2 formation rates,which separately represented the reaction rate of methanation and water gas shift,were both enhanced after Re addition compared to non-added *** kinetics models including empirical model and K-model were employed and from the results of calculation,it showed that Re selectively decreased the activation energy of methanation reaction and had little impact on the activation energy of water gas *** increased CO2 formation rate was owing to the assistance of accelerated H2O production from methanation rather than the activation energy change in water gas shift.

Coal-direct chemical-looping combustion(CDCLC)is a promising coal combustion technique that provides CO2 capture with a low energy *** this study,we developed a three-dimensional Eulerian-Eulerian multiphase full-loop model for simulating the circulation and separation of binary particle mixtures in a novel high-flux CDCLC *** model comprised a high-flux circulating fluidized bed as the fuel reactor(FR),a counter-flow moving bed as the air reactor(AR),a high-flux carbon stripper,two downcomers,and two *** model predicted the main features of complex gas-solid flow behaviors in the *** simulation results showed that quasi-stable solid circulation in the whole system could be achieved,and the FR,AR,and J-valves operated in a dense suspension upflow regime,a near-plug-flow regime,and a bubbling fluidization regime,*** multiphase flow model of binary particle mixtures was used to predict the mechanisms of directional separation of binary particle mixtures of an oxygen carrier(OC)and coal throughout the system.A decrease in the baffle aspect ratio of the inertial separator improved the coal selective separation efficiency but resulted in a slight decline in the OC selective separation;this is believed to be the result of weakening of particle collisions with the baffle.A higher FR gas velocity had a slightly negative effect on the OC selective separation efficiency,but improved the coal selective separation efficiency;this can be attributed to an increase in the particle-carrying capacity of the gas stream.A decrease in the coal particle size led to better entrainment of the coal particles by the gas stream and this increased the coal selective separation *** real CDCLC applications,the operating variables for separation of binary particle mixtures should be comprehensively assessed to determine their positive and negative effects on the carbon capture efficiency,OC regeneration efficiency,gas leakage restraint,energ

This study presents a three-dimensional numerical study of the mixing and segregation of binary particle mixtures in a two-jet spout fluidized bed based on an Eulerian-Eulerian three-fluid model. Initially, the particle mixtures were premixed and packed in a rectangular fluidized bed. As the calculation began, the gas stream was injected into the bed from the distributor and jet nozzles. The model was validated by comparing the simulated jet penetration depths with corresponding experimental data. The main features of the complex gas-solid flow behaviors and the mechanism of mixing and segregation of the binary mixtures were analyzed, Moreover, further simulations were carried out to evaluate the effects of operating conditions on the mixing and segregation of binary particle mixtures. The results illustrate that mixing can be enhanced by increasing the jet velocity or enlarging the difference of initial proportions of binary particle mixtures.

The optimization of the drum structure is beneficial to improve the particle motion and mixing in rotary *** this work,two kinds of drum structures,Lacy cylinder drum(LC)and Lacy-lifters cylinder drum(LLC),are developed on the basic of cylinder drum to enhance the heat transfer *** particle motion and mixing process are simulated by DEM *** on the grid independence and model validation,the contact number between particles and wall,particle velocity profile,thickness of active layer,particle exchange coefficient,particle concentration profile and mixing index are *** influences of the drum structure and the operation parameters are further *** results show that the contact number between particles and wall is improved in LC and LLC compared to cylinder *** particle velocity in LC is higher than that in cylinder drum at high rotating speed,and the particle velocity of the particle falling region is significantly improved in *** to cylinder drum and LC,the thickness of active layer in LLC is smaller,while the local particle mixing quality is proved to be the best in the active *** addition,the particle exchange coefficients between static region and active region in the three drums are compared and LLC is found tending to weaken the particle ***,the fluctuations of particle concentration in the active region,static region,and boundary region are weakened in LLC,and the equilibrium state is reached *** addition,the overall particle mixing performance in cylinder drum,LC and LLC is *** particle mixing performance in cylinder drum is the worst,while the difference in mixing quality of LC and LLC depends on the operation conditions.

Preparation of activated carbon from chicken waste is a promising way to produce a useful adsorbent for Hg removal. A three-stage activation process （drying at 200℃, pyrolysis in N2 atmosphere, followed by CO2 activation） was used for the production of activated samples. The effects of carbonization temperature （409-4500℃）, activation temperature （700-900℃）, and activation time （1-2.5 h） on the physicochemical properties （weight-loss and BET surface） of the prepared carbon wereinvestigated. Adsorptive removal of mercury from real flue gas onto activated carbon has been studied. The activated carbon from chicken waste has the same mercury capacity as commercial activated carbon （Darco LH）（Hg^v： 38.7% vs. 53.5%, Hg^0： 50.5% vs. 68.8%）, although its surface area is around 10 times smaller, 89.5 m^2/g vs. 862 m^2/g. The low cost activated carbon can be produced from chicken waste, and the procedure is suitable.

Experiments on particle cluster behaviors in a fast fluidized bed

A three-dimensional(3D) fast fluidized bed with the riser of 3.0 m in height and 0.1 m in inner diameter was established to experimentally study the cluster behaviors of Geldart B particles. Five kinds of quartz sand particles(dp= 0.100, 0.139, 0.177, 0.250 and 0.375 mm and ρp= 2480 kg·m^(-3)) were respectively investigated, with the total mass of the bed material kept as 10 kg. The superficial gas velocity in the riser ranges from 2.486 to 5.594 m·s^(-1) and the solid mass flux alters from 30 to 70 kg·((m^(-2)·s))^(-1). Cluster characteristics and evolutionary processes in the different positions of the riser were captured by the cluster visualization systems and analyzed by the self-developed binary image processing. The results found four typical cluster structures in the riser,i.e., the macro stripe-shaped cluster, saddle-shaped cluster, U-shaped cluster and the micro cluster. The increasing superficial gas velocity and particle sizes result in the increasing average cluster size and the decreasing cluster time fraction, while the solid mass flux in the riser have the reverse influences on the cluster size and time fraction. Additionally, clusters in the upper region of the riser often have the larger size and time fraction than that in the lower region. All these effects of operating conditions on clusters become less obvious when particle size is less than 0.100 mm.

Sewage sludge with the additive corn cob was used as prescusor to prepare sludge-based carbon adsorbents by pyrolysis method. And then, the carbonizated products were activated with potassium hydroxide. The mixing ratio of the corn cob to sewage sludge was investigated. The surface area and pore size distribution, elemental composition, surface chemistry structure and the surface physical morphology were determined and compared. The results demonstrated that the addition of corn cob into the sewage sludge sample could effectively improve the surface area （from 287 to 591 m 2 /g） and the microporosity （from 5% to 48%） of the carbon based adsorbent, thus enhancing the adsorption behavior. The sulfur dioxide adsorption capacity was measured according to breakthrough test. It was found that the sulfur dioxide adsorption capacity of the adsorbents was obviously enhanced after the addition of the corn cob. It is presumed that not only highly porous adsorbents, but also a high metallic content of these materials are required to achieve good performances.

Pyrolysis is a promising technique used for treating of sewage ***,the application of pyrolysis products is limited due to the presence of heavy *** this study,sewage sludge mixed with kaolin/zeolite was pyrolyzed in a rotary kiln,aiming to improve the immobilization of heavy metals in pyrolytic *** total concentrations,speciation distributions,leaching toxicities,and potential ecological risk indices of heavy metals in pyrolysis biochar were explored to examine the effects of kaolin/zeolite and pyrolytic temperature on immobilizing heavy ***,mineral composition and surface morphology of biochar were characterized by X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy to reveal the potential mechanism of immobilizing heavy *** pyrolysis temperature facilitated the stabilization of heavy metals in pyrolysis *** proportions of stable heavy metals in biochar obtained at 650℃ were 54.50%(Cu),29.73%(Zn),79.29%(Cd),68.17%(Pb)and 86.70%(Cr).Compared to sewage sludge,the potential contamination risk index of pyrolysis biochar obtained at 650℃ was reduced to 17.01,indicating a low ecological *** addition of 7%kaolin/zeolite further reduced the risk index of co-pyrolysis biochar prepared at 650℃ to 10.86/*** characterization of biochar revealed that increase in the pyrolysis temperature and incorporation of additives are conducive to the formation of stable heavy *** study demonstrates that the formation of stable mineral compounds containing heavy metals is the key to stabilizing heavy metals in pyrolysis biochar.

Ellipsoidal particles flowing in the hopper were simulated by using the discrete element method （DEM）, and described by the multi-element method. The contact detection algorithm and equations for ellipsoidal particle motion in hopper were developed. And the simulation results were confirmed by experiment. Additionally, the mass flow rate, pressure distribution and velocity distribu- tion of two kinds of particles were examined. The results show that the mass flow rate of ellipsoidal particles is smaller than that of spherical particles. There is a maximum value of pressure drop at the top of the junction. Besides, the pressure drop decreases with the discharging time increasing. The velocity of spherical particle is larger than that of ellipsoidal.

Considering high-moisture municipal solid waste(MSW)of China,a steam dried MSW gasification and melting process was proposed,the feasibility was tested,and the mass and energy balance was *** experiments were conducted using a fixed-bed drying apparatus,a 200 kg per day fluidized-bed gasifier,and a swirl melting *** percentage was reduced from 50%to 20%roughly when MSW was dried by slightly superheated steam of 150℃-350℃ within 40 *** the temperature was less than 250℃,no incondensable gas was produced during the drying *** gasifier ran at 550℃-700℃with an air equivalence ratio(ER)of *** temperature of the swirl melting furnace reached about 1240℃ when the gasification ER was 0.3 and the total ER was *** these conditions,the fly ash concentration in the flue gas was 1.7 g·(Nm^(3))^(-1),which meant over 95%fly ash was trapped in the furnace and discharged as slag.85%of Ni and Cr were bound in the slag,as well as 60%of *** mass and energy balance analysis indicates that the boiler heat efficiency of an industrial MSW incineration plant reaches 86.97%when MSWis dried by steam of 200℃.The boiler heat efficiency is sensitive to three important parameters,including the temperature of preheated MSW,the moisture percentage of dried MSWand the fly ash percentage in the total ash.
