＜正＞Alzheimer’s disease （AD） is a neurodegenerative disorder that currently affects nearly 2% of the population in industrialized countries;the risk of AD dramatically increases in individuals beyond the age of 70 and it is predicted that the incidence of AD will increase three-fold within the next 50 years. AD patients lose their memory and their cognitive abilities, and even their personalities may change dramatically. These changes are due to the progressive dysfunction and death of nerve cells that are responsible for the storage and processing of information. Although drugs can temporarily improve memory, at present there are no treatments that can stop or reverse the inexorable neurodegenerative process.

There is a common character for neurodegenerative diseases:all of them are connected with oxidative stressinduced neuronal *** free radical results in biological injure *** radicals peroxidize membrane lipids and oxidize proteins,resulting in damage of plasma membrane and cross-linking of cytoskeletal *** stress, an imbalance toward the prooxidant side of the prooxidant/antioxidant homeostasis,occurs in several brain neurodegenerative *** these neurodegenerative brain disorders are those in which protein aggregation is observed in hippocampus of AD brain and in substantia nigra of PD *** are usually expected as scavengers of free *** we demonstrated that antioxidants could protect cells and rat against neurotoxicities caused by 6-OHDA through ROS and NO free *** investigated the effects of exposure of cells and rat to 6-OHDA alone or associated with pre-treatment of Tea catechins(TC).Exposure of cells and rats to 6-OHDA induced a concentrationdependent apoptosis observed by flow cytometry,fluorescence microscopy and DNA fragmentation *** displayed significantly inhibitory effects against the cell death and protection the rats from Parkinson’s *** also showed good protective effect of TC on rat against Parkinson’s diseas model caused by *** neuroprotective effect of soy isoflavone against Aβ-induced apoptosis in cultured hippocampal neurons was *** was found that Aβ-induced apoptosis,indicated by Aβdecreased cell viability,neuronal DNA condensation and fragmentation,is associated with the increase of intracellular free Ca level,the accumulation of ROS,and the activation of *** these phenotypes induced by Aβare reverted by soy *** results further show that at nanomolar level, genistein protects neurons from Aβ-induced damages mainly via the estrogen receptor(ER)-mediated pathway and at micromolar level,the neuroprotective effect of soy is

＜正＞Objective In a subtype of retinal ganglion cells（RGCs）,different direction of image motion generates selective light *** the mechanisms are not fully understood,it is believed that starburst amacrine cell（SAC）,which is currently known as the only type of cholinergic neurons in the retina,is critically *** creating different degrees of SAC ablations,we further explore the interaction between SACs and DSGCs,both morphological and functional *** The ablation is performed by subcutaneous injection of L-Glutamate（monosodium salt）.The morphological and functional change of DSGCs is examined by DiI staining,fluorescent immunohistochemistry and patch clamp ***（1） The morphological features of DSGCs remain normal after SAC ablation.（2） The morphological DSGCs exhibited ON-OFF responses to light stimuli,but no longer display any direction selective responses to motion *** Current evidence suggests maturation of DSGC dendritic morphology is independent on interaction with SACs.
