The high occurrence rate and difficulties in symptom control are listed as the major problems of oral mucosal disease by medical *** the development of oral mucosal lesions,the oral microenvironment changes,immunity declines,and continuous bacterial stimulation causes wound *** antibacterial dru.s.a.e ineffective for oral mucosal *** overcome this problem,a light-responsive antibacterial hydrogel containing sustained-release BMsCs was inspired by the trauma environment in the oral cavity,which is different from that on the body surface since it mostly remains under dark *** the absence of light,the hydrogel seals the wound to form a barrier,exerts a natural bacteriostatic effect,and prevents invasion by foreign ***,mesenchymal stem cells are presented,and the released growth factors and other su.s.a.ces have excellent anti-inflammatory and angiogenic effects,which result in rapid repair of the damaged *** light conditions,after photo-induced shedding of the hydrogel,RuB_(2)A exerts an antibacterial effect accompanied by degradation of the *** in a rat oral mucosal repair model demonstrate that DCs-RuB_(2)A_(2)-BMsCs could rapidly repair the oral mucosa within 4 *** data provide ideas for further analysis of the intrinsic molecular mechanisms and signaling *** together,our results suggest that this light-responsive antibacterial hydrogel loaded with BMsCs can be used for rapid wound repair and may advance the development of therapeutic strategies for the treatment of clinical oral mucosal defects.

Dear Editor,Esophageal squamous cell carcinoma(EsCC)is the major histologic subtype of esophageal cancer with high incidence and mortality.1 however,few achievements have been made in the development of targeted drugs.2 Neddylation,a reversible post-translational modification,attaches ubiquitin-like molecule NEDD8 to substrates in a three-step enzymatic reaction catalyzed by NEDD8-activating enzyme E1(NAE,NAE1 and uBA3 heterodimer),NEDD8-conjugating enzyme E2s(uBE2M/uBC12 or uBE2F)and substrate-specific NEDD8-E3 ligases.3 The best-characterized substrates of neddylation are cullin family proteins,the essential components of multiunit Cullin-RING ubiquitin ligases(CRLs).4 Currently,the inhibition of cullin neddylation by targeting overactivated neddylation pathway has emerged as an attractive approach for anticancer therapy.5,6 Our previous study reported that MLN4924,a specific inhibitor of NAE,significantly inhibited the tumor growth of EsCC by blocking cullin neddylation and inactivating CRLs activity.7 however,recent studies found that MLN4924 treatment-emergent NAE mutations would confer the drug resistance.8,9 Therefore,it is urgent to identify other neddylation enzymes(E2s or E3s)as alternative anticancer targets and develop novel anti-EsCC strategies.

Relationship of minimum winter temperature and temperature seasonality to the northern range limit and species richness of trees in North America

Biologists have considered both winter coldness and temperature seasonality as major determinants of the northern limits of plants and animals in the Northern hemisphere,which in turn drive the well-known latitudinal diversity ***,few studies have tested which of the two climate variables is the primary *** this study,we assess whether winter coldness or temperature seasonality is more strongly associated with the northern latitudinal limits of tree species and with tree species richness in North *** species were recorded in each of 1198 quadrats of 110 km×110 km in North *** used correlation and regression analyses to assess the relationship of the latitude of the northern boundary of each species,and of species richness per quadrat,with winter coldness and temperature *** richness was analyzed within 38 longitudinal,i.e.,north-south,bands(each being>1100 km long and 110 km wide).The latitudes of the northern range limits of tree species were three times better correlated with minimum temperatures at those latitudes than with temperature *** average,minimum temperature and temperature seasonality together explained 81.5%of the variation in the northern range limits of the tree species examined,and minimum temperature uniquely explained six-fold(33.7%versus 5.8%)more of this variation than did temperature *** of tree species richness with minimum temperatures were stronger than correlations with temperature seasonality for most of the longitudinal bands *** to temperature seasonality,winter coldness is more strongly associated with species distributions at high latitudes,and is likely a more important driver of the latitudinal diversity gradient.

Efficient,robust and cost-effective electrocatalysts that catalyze hydrogen evolution/oxidation reaction(hER/hOR)in alkaline media are highly ***,single-atom catalysts(sACs)have emerged as new promising candidates;however,the rational design of supports and the optimization of coordination environment between supports and metal atoms are *** this work,we successfully fabricate atomically dispersed ruthenium(Ru)species,which are strongly coordinated by N and s dual heteroatoms on holey graphene(RusA/NsG),as an excellent bifunctional catalyst for hER/*** alkaline media,the developed catalyst exhibits high catalytic performance with a low overpotential of 57.3 mV to drive a current density of 10 mA cm^(-1) for hER,and its mass activity is about 5.8 times higher than that of commercial Pt/C and Ru/C catalysts at an overpotential of 100 ***,considerable hOR performance of Ru sA/NsG is verified to be superior to Pt/C and Ru/***,X-ray-based spectroscopy measurements and density-functional theory calculations have confirmed that,compared with Ru–N_(4),the tailored Ru–N_(4)–s_(2) with nearby s dopants can act as more active centers to greatly accelerate the sluggish hER/hOR kinetics in alkaline *** present work provides a new atomic-level engineering strategy to modulate catalytic activities of sACs via the coordination design using dual heteroatoms on the carbon support.

We discuss the crystal,electronic,and magnetic structures of La_(2−x)sr_(x)CuO_(4)(LsCO)for x=0.0 and x=0.25 employing 13 density functional approximations,representing the local,semi-local,and hybrid exchange-correlation approximations within the Perdew–schmidt *** meta-generalized gradient approximation(meta-GGA)class of functionals is found to perform well in capturing the key properties of LsCO,a prototypical high-temperature cuprate *** contrast,the localspin-density approximation,GGA,and the hybrid density functional fail to capture the metal-insulator transition under doping.

Magnetocontrollable droplet mobility on surfaces of both solids and simple fluids have been widely used in a wide range of ***,little is understood about the effect of the magnetic field on the wettability and mobility of droplets on structured ***,we report the manipulation of the dynamic behaviors of water droplets on a film of thermotropic liquid crystals(LCs).We find that the static wetting behavior and static friction of water droplets on a 4’-octyl-4-biphenylcarbonitrile(8CB)film strongly depend on the LC mesophases,and that a magnetic field caused no measurable change to these ***,we find that the droplet dynamics can be affected by a magnetic field as it slides on a nematic 8CB film,but not on isotropic 8CB,and is dependent on both the direction and strength of the magnetic *** measuring the dynamic friction of a droplet sliding on a nematic 8CB film,we find that a magnetic field alters the internal orientational ordering of the 8CB which in turn affects its *** support this interpretation with a scaling argument using the LC magnetic coherence length that includes(i)the elastic energy from the long-range orientational ordering of 8CB and(ii)the free energy from the interaction between 8CB and a magnetic ***,these results advance our understanding of droplet mobility on LC films and enable new designs for responsive surfaces that can manipulate the mobility of water droplets.

heavy ion collisions near the Fermi energy produce a‘freezout’region where fragments appear and later decay,emitting mainly neutrons,protons,alpha particles,and gamma *** decay products carry information about the decaying *** events may result in high yields of boson particles,especially alpha particles,and may carry important information about the nuclear Bose Einstein condensate(BEC).We study‘in medium’fourαcorrelations and link them to the‘fission’of 16O in two 8Be in the ground state or 12C*(hoyle state)+α.using novel techniques for the correlation functions,we confirm the resonance of 16O at 15.2 MeV excitation energy,and the possibility of a lower resonance,close to 14.72 *** latter resonance is the result of allαparticles having 92 keV relative kinetic energies.
