The eye,a complex organ isolated from the systemic circulation,presents significant drug delivery challenges owing to its protective mechanisms,such as the blood-retinal barrier and corneal *** drug administration methods often fail to sustain therapeutic levels and may compromise patient safety and *** microneedles(PSMNs)have emerged as a transformative solution for ophthalmic drug ***,a comprehensive review of PSMNs in ophthalmology has not been published to *** this review,we critically examine the synergy between polysaccharide chemistry and microneedle technology for enhancing ocular drug *** provide a thorough analysis of PSMNs,summarizing the design principles,fabrication processes,and challenges addressed during fabrication,including improving patient comfort and *** also describe recent advances and the performance of various PSMNs in both research and clinical ***,we review the current regulatory frameworks and market barriers that are relevant to the clinical and commercial advancement of PSMNs and provide a final perspective on this research area.

The BEL1-like transcription factor GhBLH5-A05 participates in cotton response to drought stress

Drought stress impairs crop growth and ***1-like family transcription factors may be involved in plant response to drought stress,but little is known of the molecular mechanism by which these proteins regulate plant response and defense to drought *** we show that the BEL1-like transcription factor GhBLH5-A05 functions in cotton(Gossypium hirsutum)response and defense to drought *** of GhBLH5-A05 in cotton was induced by drought *** of GhBLH5-A05 in both Arabidopsis and cotton increased drought tolerance,whereas silencing GhBLH5-A05 in cotton resulted in elevated sensitivity to drought ***5-A05 binds to cis elements in the promoters of GhRD20-A09 and GhDREB2C-D05 to activate the expression of these ***5-A05 interacted with the KNOX transcription factor ***-expression of GhBLH5-A05 and GhKNAT6-A03 increased the transcription of GhRD20-A09 and *** conclude that GhBLH5-A05 acts as a regulatory factor with GhKNAT6-A03 functioning in cotton response to drought stress by activating the expression of the drought-responsive genes GhRD20-A09 and GhDREB2C-D05.

Effect of gas saturation on P-wave velocity in tight sandstone

By measuring the variation of the P-and S-wave velocities of tight sandstone samples under water saturation,it was confirmed that with the decrease in water saturation,the P-wave velocity first decreased and then *** variation in velocity was influenced by the sandstone’s *** commonly used Gassmann equation based on fluid substitution theory was *** the calculated results with the measured data,it was found that the Gassmann equation agreed well with the measured data at high water saturation,but it could not explain the bending phenomenon of P-wave velocity at low *** indicated that these equations could not accurately describe the relationship between fluid content and rock acoustic *** reasons for this phenomenon were discussed through Taylor’s *** coefficients of the fitting formula were calculated and verified by fitting the measured acoustic velocity changes of the *** relationship between P-wave velocity and saturation was discussed,which provides experimental support for calculating saturation using seismic and acoustic logging data.

Numerical investigation on thermomechanical behavior of alumina–calcium hexaluminate refractories for purging plug

Alumina–spinel refractories used in slit-type purging plugs are susceptible to cross-sectional damage,resulting in a serious mismatch between their service life and that of ***–calcium hexaluminate refractories have gradually become the new trend in purging plug materials with the development of refining *** thermomechanical damage of slit-type purging plugs with alumina–calcium hexaluminate refractory was investigated by the thermo-solid coupling *** with the polynomial fitting and design of experiments methods,the influence of thermophysical parameters on temperature and thermal stress of alumina–calcium hexaluminate refractories for purging plugs was systematically *** results show that the maximum thermal stress of the purging plugs appears during the stages of steel transporting and stirring,and the vulnerable parts are located above Y=0.323 *** thermal conductivity and the coefficient of thermal expansion of the material are the most sensitive parameters to the temperature and thermal stress inside the structure,*** addition of more calcium hexaluminate can relieve the stress concentration and large deformation around the ***,when the content of calcium hexaluminate is 47 wt.%and in the form of aggregate-binder,the temperature and thermal stress distribution inside the refractory are optimal,which can effectively improve the service life of the slit-type purging plug.

Comparison of thermal shock resistance capabilities of the rotary swaged pure tungsten,potassium-doped tungsten,and W-La2O3 alloys

Tungsten-based materials are one of the most important candidates for the plasma facing materials（PFMs） of future fusion reactors,and it is necessary to study the properties of tungsten-based materials under the service conditions of fusion devices to ensure the long-term steady-state operation of future fusion *** this paper,different tungsten-based materials made by the same rotary swaging process are selected to simulate the transient thermal loads on the PFMs of a fusion reactor using an electron beam,and thermal load experiments are carried out by changing the power density of a loading pulse and the pulse *** is found that different tungsten-based materials made by the same process have large differences in thermal shock resistance,and the doped tungsten materials（W-K and W-La2O3） are significantly better than the pure tungsten materials with the increase in thermal shock power density and the number of cycles,especially the W-K materials,which have excellent performance.

In recent years,many cities have taken measures to reduce volatile organic compounds(VOCs),an important precursor of ozone(O_(3)),to alleviate O_(3) pollution in China.116 VOC species were measured by online and offline methods in the urban area of Jiaozuo from May to October in 2021 to analyze the compositional *** sources were analyzed by a positive matrix factorization(PMF)model,and the sensitivity of ozone generation was determined by ozone isopleth plotting research(OZIPR)*** results showed that the average volume concentration of total VOCs was 30.54 ppbv and showed a bimodal feature due to the rush-hour traffic in the morning and at *** most dominant VOC groups were oxygenated VOCs(OVOCs,29.3%)and alkanes(26.7%),and the most abundant VOC species were acetone and ***,based on the maximum incremental reactivity(MIR)method,the major VOC groups in terms of ozone formation potential(OFP)contribution were OVOCs(68.09μg/m^(3),31.5%),aromatics(62.90μg/m^(3),29.1%)and alkene/alkynes(54.90μg/m^(3),25.4%).This indicates that the control of OVOCs,aromatics and alkene/alkynes should take *** sources of VOCs were quantified by PMF,including fixed sources of fossil fuel combustion(27.8%),industrial processes(25.9%),vehicle exhaust(19.7%),natural and secondary formation(13.9%)and solvent usage(12.7%).The empirical kinetic modeling approach(EKMA)curve obtained by OZIPR on O_(3) exceedance days indicated that the O_(3) sensitivity varied in different *** results provide theoretical support for O_(3) pollution prevention and control in Jiaozuo.

Optical responses of metallic plasmonic arrays under the localized excitation

The metallic plasmonic array that can support both propagating surface plasmon polaritons(PSPPs)and localized surface plasmon resonance(LSPR)possesses rich optical properties and remarkable optical performance,making it a powerful platform for applications in photonics,chemistry,and *** practical applications,the excitation spot is usually smaller than the area of metal *** is thus imperative to address“how many array units are enough?”towards a rational design of plasmonic ***,we employed focused ion beam(FIB)to precisely fabricate a series of plasmonic array structures with increased unit *** utilizing photoluminescence(PL)and surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy(SERS),we found that the array units outside the excitation spot still have a significant impact on the optical response within the *** with the numerical simulation,we found that the boundary of the finite array leads to the loss of PSPP outside the excitation point,which subsequently affects the coupling of PSPP and LSPR in the excitation spot,leading to variations in PL and SERS *** on the findings,we further tuned the LSPR mode of the metal arrays by electrodeposition to obtain strong near-field enhancement without any influence on the PSPP *** work advances the understanding of near-field and far-field optical behavior in finite-size array structures and provides guidance for designing highly-efficient photonic devices.

Currently,human health due to corona virus disease 2019(COVID-19)pandemic has been seriously *** coronavirus severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2)spike(S)protein plays a crucial role in virus transmission and several S-based therapeutic approaches have been approved for the treatment of ***,the efficacy is compromised by the SARS-CoV-2 evolvement and *** we report the SARS-CoV-2 S protein receptor-binding domain(RBD)inhibitor licorice-saponin A3(A3)could widely inhibit RBD of SARS-CoV-2 variants,including Beta,Delta,and Omicron BA.1,XBB and ***,A3 could potently inhibit SARS-CoV-2 Omicron virus in Vero E6 cells,with EC50 of 1.016μ*** mechanism was related to binding with Y453 of RBD determined by hydrogen-deuterium exchange mass spectrometry(HDX-MS)analysis combined with quantum mechanics/molecular mechanics(QM/MM)***,phosphoproteomics analysis and multi fluorescent immunohistochemistry(mIHC)respectively indicated that A3 also inhibits host inflammation by directly modulating the JNK and p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase(MAPK)pathways and rebalancing the corresponding immune *** work supports A3 as a promising broad-spectrum small molecule drug candidate for COVID-19.
