Clinical observation of extraction-site incisional hernia after laparoscopic colorectal surgery

BACKGROUND Laparoscopic colorectal cancer surgery increases the risk of incisional hernia(IH)at the tumor extraction *** To investigate the incidence of IH at extraction sites following laparoscopic colo-rectal cancer surgery and identify the risk factors for IH *** This study retrospectively analyzed the data of 1614 patients who underwent la-paroscopic radical colorectal cancer surgery with tumor extraction through the abdominal wall at our center between January 2017 and December ***-rences in the incidence of postoperative IH at different extraction sites and the risk factors for IH incidence were *** Among the 1614 patients who underwent laparoscopic radical colorectal cancer surgery,303(18.8%),923(57.2%),171(10.6%),and 217(13.4%)tumors were ex-tracted through supraumbilical midline,infraumbilical midline,umbilical,and off-midline *** these,52 patients developed IH in the abdominal wall,with an incidence of 3.2%.The incidence of postoperative IH was significantly higher in the off-midline incision group(8.8%)than in the middle incision groups[the supraumbilical midline(2.6%),infraumbilical midline(2.2%),and umbilical incision(2.9%)groups](χ^(2)=24.985;P<0.05).Univariate analysis showed that IH occurrence was associated with age,obesity,sex,chronic cough,incision infection,and combined diabetes,anemia,and hypopro-teinemia(P<0.05).Similarly,multivariate analysis showed that off-midline incision,age,sex(female),obesity,incision infection,combined chronic cough,and hypoproteinemia were independent risk factors for IH at the site of laparoscopic colorectal cancer surgery(P<0.05).CONCLUSION The incidence of postoperative IH differs between extraction sites for laparoscopic colorectal cancer *** infraumbilical midline incision is associated with a lower hernia rate and is thus a suitable tumor extraction site.

Testing Linearity in Functional Partially Linear Models

For the functional partially linear models including flexible nonparametric part and functional linear part,the estimators of the nonlinear function and the slope function have been studied in existing *** to test the correlation between response and explanatory variables,however,still seems to be ***,a test procedure for testing the linearity in the functional partially linear models will be proposed in this paper.A test statistic is constructed based on the existing estimators of the nonlinear and the slope ***,we prove that the approximately asymptotic distribution of the proposed statistic is a chi-squared distribution under some regularity ***,some simulation studies and a real data application are presented to demonstrate the performance of the proposed test statistic.

Polymer density-functional theories(PDFTs)have distinct advantages in the study of polyelectrolyte(PE)systems over experiments and molecular *** we give an introductory review of some PDFTs recently developed for PE *** start with a general formalism of PDFTs and its relation to the widely used polymer self-consistent field theory(SCFT),then explain the various correlations that are neglected in SCFT but can be accounted for in PDFTs,including those due to the excluded-volume interaction and chain connectivity of uncharged polymers,the electrostatic correlations of small ions,and the chain correlations in *** also list some applications of PDFTs for PE systems,and finally give some perspectives on future *** hope that our review can attract more researchers to apply and further develop PDFTs as a promising class of theoretical and computational tools.

Numerical simulation of formaldehyde distribution characteristics in the high-speed train cabin

The global concern over indoor air pollution in public vehicles has grown *** a focus on enhancing passengers’comfort and health,this study endeavors to investigate the distribution characteristics of formaldehyde within a high-speed train cabin by employing a computational fluid dynamics(CFD)model which is experimentally validated in a real cabin *** research focuses on analyzing the impact of air supply modes,temperature,relative humidity,and fresh air change rate on the distribution and concentration of *** results demonstrate that the difference in average formaldehyde concentration between the two air supply modes is below 1.3%,but the top air supply mode leads to a higher accumulation of formaldehyde near the sidewalls,while the bottom air supply mode promotes a more uniform distribution of ***,the temperature,relative humidity,and fresh air change rate are the primary factors affecting formaldehyde concentration levels,but they have modest effects on formaldehyde’s distribution pattern within the *** the temperature and relative humidity increase,the changes in formaldehyde concentrations in response to variations in these factors become more ***,the formaldehyde concentration may surpass the standard limit of 0.10 mg/m^(3)if the fresh air change rate falls below 212 m^(3)/*** research provides a systematic approach and referenceable results for exploring formaldehyde pollution in high-speed train cabins.

Multi-scale data joint inversion of minerals and porosity in altered igneous reservoirs—A case study in the South China Sea

There are abundant igneous gas reservoirs in the South China Sea with significant value of research,and lithology classification,mineral analysis and porosity inversion are important links in reservoir ***,affected by the diverse lithology,complicated mineral and widespread alteration,conventional logging lithology classification and mineral inversion become considerably *** the same time,owing to the limitation of the wireline log response equation,the quantity and accuracy of minerals can hardly meet the exploration requirements of igneous *** overcome those issues,this study takes the South China Sea as an example,and combines multi-scale data such as micro rock slices,petrophysical experiments,wireline log and element cutting log to establish a set of joint inversion methods for minerals and porosity of altered igneous ***,we define the lithology and mineral characteristics through core slices and mineral data,and establish an igneous multi-mineral volumetric *** we determine element cutting log correction method based on core element data,and combine wireline log and corrected element cutting log to perform the lithology classification and joint inversion of minerals and ***,it is always difficult to determine the elemental eigenvalues of different minerals in *** paper uses multiple linear regression methods to solve this ***,an integrated inversion technique for altered igneous formations was *** results show that the corrected element cutting log are in good agreement with the core element data,and the mineral and porosity results obtained from the joint inversion based on the wireline log and corrected element cutting log are also in good agreement with the core data from X-ray *** results demonstrate that the inversion technique is applicable and this study provides a new direction for the mineral inversion research of altered igneous formation

Exploring precursor effect in in-situ reconstruction of Bi metal organic-frameworks during CO_(2)electroreduction reaction to tailor formate selectivity towards 100%

Bi-based metal-organic frameworks(Bi-MOFs)as efficient catalysts for the CO_(2)electroreduction reaction(CRR)have been extensively *** has been established that Bi-MOFs usually undergo in-situ transformation during the CRR,ultimately converting into Bi ***,the effect of the MOF precursors on the structure of the derived Bi catalysts and consequently on their electrocatalytic properties has not been clearly *** this work,we prepared four variants of a novel Bi-MOF with different morphologies and dimensions,and explored the effects of the precursors on the resulting Bi catalysts and their CRR performance.A precursor-dependent in-situ transformation and its profound impact on tuning the CO_(2)-formate FE towards~100%have been *** the four examined variants,Bi-MOF with nanocube-like morphology(BiMOF-NC)is transformed into thin and flat Bi nanosheets capable of successfully enveloping the fibers of carbon paper(working electrode),while the other three variants with increased size and dodecahedral/octahedral geometry have been transformed into Bi nanoflowers,exposing a fair portion of the carbon fibers in the working ***,the transformation rate was found to be dependent on the precursors and BiMOF-NC exhibited the highest rate of reconstruction compared with other ***,the Bi catalyst derived from BiMOF-NC delivered a selectivity for the formate product of nearly 100%at-1.2 V(*** hydrogen electrode(RHE))and of over 95%in a wide potential range due to efficient suppression of the competing hydrogen evolution reaction(HER)over carbon *** in-situ transformed BiMOFNC also demonstrated equivalently high formate selectivity at large current densities(≥100 mA cm^(-2))in flow cell reactors as that in H-type reactors,underscoring its potential for industrial *** work highlights the necessity of finely tuning the structural features of MOF precursors to achieve optim

Phase Patterning of Poly(oxime-ester) for Information Encryption by Photo-induced Isomerization

Crystal polymers or liquid crystal elastomers undergo a phase transition that results in a change in the corresponding optical properties, which has the potential to be applied in areas such as information encryption and anti-counterfeiting. The utilization of these materials for patterning purposes requires different phase transition temperatures. However, once prepared, altering the phase transition temperature of them presents significant challenges. Herein, a poly(oxime-ester)(POE) network is developed to achieve high-resolution and multilevel patterning by photo-induced isomerization. The as-prepared POE exhibits the ability to transition from an opaque state to a transparent state under temperature stimuli, with the transition temperature and kinetics dependent on UV light exposure time. Thus, complex patterns and information can be encrypted through different selective regional exposure time and decrypted under specific temperature or cooling time. Furthermore, we illustrate an example of temporal communication, where cooling time or temperature serves as the encoded information. This research expands the application scope of advanced encryption materials, showcasing the potential of POE in dynamic information encryption and decryption processes.

A survey on model-based reinforcement learning

Reinforcement learning(RL) interacts with the environment to solve sequential decision-making problems via a trial-and-error approach. Errors are always undesirable in real-world applications, even though RL excels at playing complex video games that permit several trial-and-error attempts. To improve sample efficiency and thus reduce errors, model-based reinforcement learning(MBRL) is believed to be a promising direction, as it constructs environment models in which trial-and-errors can occur without incurring actual costs. In this survey, we investigate MBRL with a particular focus on the recent advancements in deep RL. There is a generalization error between the learned model of a non-tabular environment and the actual environment. Consequently, it is crucial to analyze the disparity between policy training in the environment model and that in the actual environment, guiding algorithm design for improved model learning, model utilization, and policy training. In addition, we discuss the recent developments of model-based techniques in other forms of RL, such as offline RL, goal-conditioned RL, multi-agent RL, and meta-RL. Furthermore,we discuss the applicability and benefits of MBRL for real-world tasks. Finally, this survey concludes with a discussion of the promising future development prospects for MBRL. We believe that MBRL has great unrealized potential and benefits in real-world applications, and we hope this survey will encourage additional research on MBRL.

Elimination of cracks in stainless steel casings via 3D printed sand molds with an internal topology structure

The important supporting component in a gas turbine is the casing,which has the characteristics of large size,complex structure,and thin *** the context of existing 3DP sand casting processes,casting crack defects are prone to *** leads to an increase in the scrap rate of casings,causing significant resource ***,the presence of cracks poses a significant safety hazard after the casings are put into *** generation of different types of crack defects in stainless steel casings is closely related to casting stress and the high-temperature concession of the sand ***,the types and causes of cracks in stainless steel casing products,based on their structural characteristics,were systematically *** sand molds with different internal topology designs were printed using the 3DP technology to investigate the impact of sand mold structures on high-temperature *** optimal sand mold structure was used to cast casings,and the crack suppression effect was verified by analyzing its eddy current testing *** experimental results indicate that the skeleton structure has an excellent effect on suppressing cracks in the *** research holds important theoretical and engineering significance in improving the quality of casing castings and reducing production costs.
