The tribology behaviors of Ti6Al7Nb,its alloy with N-ion implantation,and its alloy with diamond-like carbon(DLC)coating were investigated in artificial *** wear tests of untreated,N-ion implanted and DLC coated Ti6Al7Nb alloys plate against a Si3N4ball were carried out on a reciprocating sliding fretting wear test *** on the analysis of X-ray diffraction,Raman spectroscopy,3-D profiler,SEM morphologies and frictional kinetics behavior analysis,the damage behavior of surface modification layer was discussed in *** results indicated that the fretting wear behavior of Ti6Al7Nb alloy with N-ion implantation was increased with the dose increase of the implanted nitrogen ***,the DLC-coated Ti6Al7Nb alloy with low ion implantation could improve the fretting wear behavior *** addition,the Ti6Al7Nb with DLC coating had better ncorrosion resistance due to the special compact *** results suggested that the Ti6Al7Nb with DLC coating had better wear resistance than that with N-ion implantation in artificial saliva.

Dear editor,Andersen-Tawil syndrome(ATS)is a rare cause of periodic *** inheritance pattern of ATS is autosomal *** is characterized by periodic paralysis,arrhythmias,and distinctive appearances.[1]ATS has been linked to mutations in the KCNJ2 gene that causes defective inward-rectifi er potassium channel Kir2.1,[2]which plays an important role in stabilizing resting membrane potential in both skeletal and cardiac muscles.[3]There are few reports[4,5]concerning ATS in the Chinese *** potentially reversible muscular weakness and potentially life-threatening ventricular arrhythmia require early *** this report,we presented one case of ATS who had the symptoms of persistent bilateral proximal limb weakness and mildly elevated creatinine *** patient was initially diagnosed with *** paralysis,dysmorphic feature,and heterozygous mutation of R218Q in KCNJ2 led us to the diagnosis of ATS.

BACKGROUND There is no standard endovascular treatment for extracranial internal carotid artery dissecting *** the past,stent-graft isolation and stent-assisted coil embolization were commonly used for wide-necked and fusiform ***,we present two cases of extracranial internal carotid artery dissecting aneurysms treated successfully using the SUPERA *** SUMMARY Case 1 was a 57-year-old male patient with sudden right limb weakness and vague speech and diagnosed with cerebral infarction in February *** computed tomographic angiography(CTA)revealed left internal carotid artery dissection with *** at 2 mo showed an eccentric wide-necked dissecting aneurysm(5 mm×5 mm×12 mm,10-mm neck)that was enlarged at 4 mo(7 mm×6 mm×12 mm,11-mm neck).The patient underwent SUPERA stent *** condition was stable in July *** 2 was a 57-year-old man who suddenly felt dizzy and developed unsteady walking in November *** CTA suggested right internal carotid artery dissecting aneurysm(11 mm×9 mm×31 mm)complicated with severe lumen stenosis(95%).The patient underwent SUPERA stent *** patient had no residual symptoms and was stable in December *** SUPERA stent implantation might achieve good results in treating wide-necked or long fusiform internal carotid artery dissecting aneurysms.

Huntington＇s disease （HD） is an autosomal dominant, progressive, neurodegenerative disorder caused by an unstable expansion of CAG repeats （〉35 repeats） within exon 1 of the interesting transcript 15 （IT15） gene. This gene encodes a protein called Huntingtin （Htt）, and mutation of the gene results in a polyglutamine （polyQ） near the N-terminus of Htt. The N-terminal fragments of mutant Htt （mHtt）, which tend to aggregate, are sufficient to cause HD. Whether these aggregates are causal or protective for HD remains hotly debated. Dysfunctional mitochondrial axonal transport is associated with HD. It remains unknown whether the soluble or aggregated form of mHtt is the primary cause of the impaired mitochondrial axonal transport in HD pathology. Here, we investigated the impact of soluble and aggregated N-terminal fragments of mHtt on mitochondrial axonal transport in cultured hippocampal neurons. We found that the N-terminal fragment of mHtt formed aggregates in almost half of the transfected neurons. Overexpression of the N-terminal fragment of mHtt decreased the velocity of mitochondrial axonal transport and mitochondrial mobility in neurons regardless of whether aggregates were formed. However, the impairment of mitochondrial axonal transport in neurons expressing the soluble and aggregated N-terminal fragments of mHtt did not differ. Our findings indicate that both the soluble and aggregated N-terminal fragments of mHtt impair mitochondrial axonal transport in cultured hippocampal neurons. We predict that dysfunction of mitochondrial axonal transport is an early-stage event in the progression of HD, even before mHtt aggregates are formed.

For the functional partially linear models including flexible nonparametric part and functional linear part,the estimators of the nonlinear function and the slope function have been studied in existing *** to test the correlation between response and explanatory variables,however,still seems to be ***,a test procedure for testing the linearity in the functional partially linear models will be proposed in this paper.A test statistic is constructed based on the existing estimators of the nonlinear and the slope ***,we prove that the approximately asymptotic distribution of the proposed statistic is a chi-squared distribution under some regularity ***,some simulation studies and a real data application are presented to demonstrate the performance of the proposed test statistic.

The 39-item Parkinson's Disease Questionnaire (PDQ-39) has been tested in many languages, but not in Chinese mainland. We aimed to assess the Chinese (mainland) version of the PDQ-39. Seventy-one subjects with Parkinson's disease (PD) completed the PDQ-39 and the Medical Outcomes Study 36-item Short Form Health Survey (SF-36). All subjects were retested with the PDQ-39 a week later. The united Parkinson's disease rating scale (UPDRS) and the Hoehn and Yahr (H & Y) scale were also used to evaluate the subjects. Reliability was assessed by Cron- bach's α and intra-class correlation coefficient (ICC). Validity was examined in terms of agreement with SF-36, UPDRS, and H & Y scales. The Chinese (mainland) version of the PDQ-39 demonstrated acceptable reliability (Cronbach's α: 0.84-0.88; ICC: 0.56-0.82). The item-total correlations (0.33-0.88) and scaling success rates (77.56%) indicated satisfactory convergent and discriminant validity of the PDQ-39 items. The correlations between related constructs of the PDQ-39 and UPDRS (r=0.44-0.68) and between those of the PDQ-39 and SF-36 (r=(-0.46)-(-0.69)) were all statistically significant (P<0.01). Except for stigma, cognitions, and bodily discomfort, all other dimensions of the PDQ-39 significantly discriminated patients at different H & Y stages indicated by the H & Y scale. Although our observations indicate that some problematic subscales of this version of the PDQ-39 could be improved upon, this study suggests acceptable reliability and validity of the Chinese (mainland) version of the PDQ-39.

We described a female patient with insulinoma who experienced recurrent episodes of automatism, confusion and convulsion. Furthermore, her electroencephalography （EEG） findings resembled the pattern in complex partial seizures with secondary generalization. The interictal EEG showed spikes and sharp waves, as well as focal slowing over the left temporal lobe, and the ictal EEG revealed generalized spikes and sharp waves associated with diffused slowing. She was initially misdiagnosed as pharmacoresistant epilepsy. After the insulinoma was found and surgically removed, her EEG turned normal and she was seizure-free during the 4-year follow-up. This report highlights the need for careful reassessment of all seizures refractory to medication, even for the oatients associated with eoileotiform discharges on EEG.

Objective: To investigate the presence of previously undiagnosed radiographic bronchiectasis in stable chronic obstructive pul-monary disease (COPD) patients using high resolution computed tomography (HRCT) and to evaluate the effect of radiographic bronchiectasis on the symptoms and risks in stable COPD ***: From May 2012 to April 2014, there were 347 patients enrolled in COPD database. Data describing the general con-ditions, the frequency of acute exacerbations the year before, COPD assessment test, modified medical research council (mMRC) score, spirometric classification, and HRCT were collected. COPD patients were classified into two groups:COPD with bron-chiectasis and COPD without bronchiectasis. The clinical characteristics of both groups were ***: Bronchiectasis was presented in 18.4% (n = 64). The proportion of smokers, smoking index, and forced expiratory volume in 1 second predicted value were 62.5%, 27.3 ± 13.2, 48.2 ± 26.4, respectively, in the bronchiectasis group, which were lower than those of the group without bronchiectasis (82.0%, 32.6 ± 17.6, and 57.9 ± 18.8) (P<0.05). Complications, COPD assessment test (CAT) and the rate of CAT≥10 in the bronchiectasis group were 2.8 ± 1.7,13.6 ± 7.4 and 26.6%, respectively, which were higher than those of the group without bronchiectasis (2.3 ± 1.5,11.3 ± 6.0, and 11.7%) (P<0.05). The proportion of type D (high-risk more-symptoms) in the bronchiectasis group was 50.0%;it was significantly higher than that of 35.7%in the group without bronchiectasis (P<0.05).Conclusions: COPD with bronchiectasis is associated with more complications, symptoms, and risks. More attention should be paid to the treatment of COPD with bronchiectasis to reduce the frequency of exacerbation and improve the health status.
