Background:Although a variety of risk factors of pneumonia after clipping or coiling of the aneurysm(post-operative pneumonia[POP])in patients with aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage(aSAH)have been studied,the predictive model of POP after aSAH has still not been well ***,the aim of this study was to assess the feasibility of using admission neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio(NLR)to predict the occurrence of POP in aSAH ***:We evaluated 711 aSAH patients who were enrolled in a prospective observational study and collected admission blood cell counts *** analyzed available demographics and baseline variables for these patients and analyzed the correlation of these factors with POP using Cox *** screening out the prognosis-related factors,the predictive value of these factors for POP was further ***:POP occurred in 219 patients(30.4%)in this *** with POP had significantly higher NLR than those without(14.11±8.90vs.8.80±5.82,P10 had significantly worse POP survival rate than patients having NLR≤*** at admission might be helpful as a predictor of POP in aSAH patients.

Herein, the de novo synthesis of atropisomeric benzofurans through the Cu/spirocyclic-pyrrolidine-oxazoline(SPDO) complex catalyze asymmetric formal [3 + 2] cycloaddition between quinones and ynamides is explored, producing a range of structurally diverse axially chiral benzofurans in satisfactory yields with good to excellent enantioselectivities. Furthermore, density functional theory calculations were applied to explain the possible reaction mechanism.

Dear Editor, Liver transplantation(LT) is the only curative therapy for patients with endstage liver disease(He et al., 2023; Ling et al., 2022). Post-transplant hypertriglyceridemia(PTHT), which has an incidence of up to 32.8% in 6 months after LT, is one of the major post-transplant complications(Toshima et al., 2020).

Ensuring the safety and performance of lithium-ion batteries(LIBs) is a significant challenge for electric *** tackle this issue, an innovative liquid-immersed battery thermal management system(LIBTMS) using bionic baffles with fish-like perforations is developed. The thermal-flow-electric coupling characteristics of LIBTMSs with different baffle structures(no baffle, conventional baffle, baffle with circular perforations and baffle with fish-like perforations) are systematically investigated using experimental and numerical methods. The results indicate that the forced flow scheme exhibits better thermal management performance and voltage equalization than static flow. Moreover, the LIB temperatures and voltage deviations of different LIBTMSs increase quickly with increasing discharge rates. More importantly, the innovative LIBTMS exhibits the best thermoelectric performance due to its excellent thermoelectric equilibrium behavior caused by high electrical and temperature consistency, as well as the best overall performance involving the balance between the pressure loss and heat transfer capacity of the system. Compared with other structures, the innovative LIBTMS using baffles with fish-like perforations exhibits a maximum reduction of 10.1%, 15.2%, 25.8% and 9.0% in LIB maximum temperature, maximum temperature difference, system pressure drop and voltage deviation, respectively, under the same operating ***, for the LIBTMS using baffles with fish-like perforations, the bottom inlet and top outlet configuration and coolant precooling are suggested to enhance cooling performance.

An indium-rich InGaN p-n junction is grown on a strain-relaxed InGaN buffer *** results show that the n-InGaN is grown coherently on the buffer layer but the p-InGaN layer exhibits a partial strain *** fabricated InGaN p-n junction has a low reverse leakage current density on the order of 10^(-8)A/cm^(2)within the measured voltage range,and exhibits a wide spectral response due to the presence of band tail states or deep level states which origin from indium composition fluctuation or various *** measured peak responsivity at 438 nm is 31 mA/W at zero bias and reaches 118 mA/W at 3 V reverse *** addition,the Raman spectra of the p-and n-type InGaN alloys are also analyzed.

Generalized reciprocal theorems of non-coupled and coupled systems, which are valid for two deformed bodies with different constitutive relations are established by generalizing the idea of Betti's reciprocal theorem. When the constitutive relations of the two deformed bodies are all alike and linear elastic the generalized reciprocal theorem of non-coupled systems just becomes Betti's. Meanwhile the generalized reciprocal theorems are applied to simulate calculations in elasticity.

Expression of iNOS in early injury in a rat model of small-for-size liver transplantation

BACKGROUND: Living donor liver transplantation has been widely accepted as the treatment of choice for end-stage liver disease. Large amounts of nitric oxide generated by inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) have been shown to play an important role in many inflammatory and immune reactions, but expression of iNOS in small-for-size liver transplantation is unknown. The aims of this study were to determine the time course of iNOS mRNA and protein as well as the redox state of liver biopsies in a rat model of small-for-size liver transplantation. METHODS: Male Sprague-Dawley rats were divided into a control group, a warm ischemia-reperfusion (IR) group, and a small-for-size liver graft group. Real-time RT-PCR and Western blotting were used to characterize the time course of the expression of iNOS mRNA and protein, respectively. Malondialdehyde (MDA) and superoxide dismutase (SOD) were used as markers to characterize the redox state of liver tissues, and the time courses of MDA and SOD levels were also measured. RESULTS: The expression of iNOS mRNA and protein levels in the warm IR and small-for-size graft groups both significantly increased after reperfusion, and peaked at 3 hours. Moreover, the increase in MDA was accompanied by increased iNOS in the period of 1-24 hours after reperfusion. The MDA levels in the warm IR and small-for-size graft groups significantly increased after reperfusion, peaked at 3 hours, and decreased thereafter. The direction of change in SOD was opposite that of the change in MDA. CONCLUSIONS: The expression of iNOS mRNA and protein is activated after reperfusion both in hepatic warm IR injury and small-for-size liver graft. Furthermore, the results of this study suggest that iNOS contributes to the damage in warm IR injury and small-for-size grafts via free oxygen radicals.

The Compressibility of Checkerboard Surfaces of Link Diagrams

Consider the checkerboard surfaces defined by some link diagrams. When they are not orientable, one considers the boundary surfaces of small regular neighborhoods of them. This article studies the compressibility problem of these kinds of surfaces in the link complements. The problem is solved by devising a normalization theory for the compressing discs, which brings up an algorithm to read out compressibility directly from the link diagrams. As an application of the algorithm, the compressibility changes under Reidermeister moves are studied. Diagrams from the knot tables are also studied, and surprisingly, some of them are shown to define completely compressible surfaces of this kind. Infinitely many examples of non-alternating knot diagrams with incompressible surfaces of this kind are also constructed.
