Effect of Artificial Electric Field Surface by Wave-Driven Triboelectricity on Anti-Bioadhesion for Riser Protection

Feeding a cold steel strip into continuous casting（CC）mold is an effective method to improve the center quality of large round bloom. A liquid-columnar-equiaxed solidification three-phase volume averaged solidification model was developed to explore the effect of feeding strip carbon content on solidification structure and macrosegregation distribution of large CC round bloom in this paper. The results show that the carbon content of feeding steel strip has a significant effect on the growth of equiaxed crystals and columnar crystals. Under the condition of both low and high strip carbon contents，the effect of feeding steel strip on increasing equiaxed grain volume fraction will be reduced. The solute concentration and distribution in the casting bloom can be directly affected by regulating the solute concentration of steel strip. The steel strip with 1. 0 times the carbon content of casting steel（rC=1. 0）has the best improvement effect on the large CC round bloom， with the radial extreme difference of carbon content and macrosegregation index of the bloom being 0. 165 7% and 38. 36%，respectively. © 2024 Northeast University. Biofouling has been a persistent problem in marine riser system, resulting in energy waste and equipment damage. Inthis study, a kind of water wave-driven contact-mode flexible triboelectric nanogeneration has been prepared byusing graphene-doped PDMS as dielectric friction material. When the graphene content is 2%, the average outputvoltage can reach 46 V under the contact frequency 10 Hz. The flexible triboelectric nanogeneration encapsulationmodule is impinged by water waves to generate alternating microelectric field on the riser surface and destroy theadhesion conditions of microorganisms during the biofilm stage. In the biofouling experiments at different stages, thebiofouling area of the platymonas subcordiformis has been reduced by 53%, 62% and 61%. It provides a new ideafor effective treatment of biofouling of mussels, oysters and barnacles attached to risers.

CPT: a pre-trained unbalanced transformer for both Chinese language understanding and generation

In this paper, we take the advantage of previous pre-trained models(PTMs) and propose a novel Chinese pre-trained unbalanced transformer(CPT). Different from previous Chinese PTMs, CPT is designed to utilize the shared knowledge between natural language understanding(NLU) and natural language generation(NLG) to boost the performance. CPT consists of three parts: a shared encoder, an understanding decoder, and a generation decoder. Two specific decoders with a shared encoder are pretrained with masked language modeling(MLM) and denoising auto-encoding(DAE) tasks, respectively.With the partially shared architecture and multi-task pre-training, CPT can(1) learn specific knowledge of both NLU or NLG tasks with two decoders and(2) be fine-tuned flexibly that fully exploits the potential of the model. Moreover, the unbalanced transformer saves the computational and storage cost, which makes CPT competitive and greatly accelerates the inference of text generation. Experimental results on a wide range of Chinese NLU and NLG tasks show the effectiveness of CPT.

Objective This study explored the potentially modifiable factors for depression and major depressive disorder(MDD)from the MR-Base database and further evaluated the associations between drug targets with MDD.Methods We analyzed two-sample of Mendelian randomization(2SMR)using genetic variant depression(n=113,154)and MDD(n=208,811)from Genome-Wide Association Studies(GWAS).Separate calculations were performed with modifiable risk factors from MR-Base for 1,001 genomes.The MR analysis was performed by screening drug targets with MDD in the DrugBank database to explore the therapeutic targets for MDD.Inverse variance weighted(IVW),fixed-effect inverse variance weighted(FE-IVW),MR-Egger,weighted median,and weighted mode were used for complementary calculation.Results The potential causal relationship between modifiable risk factors and depression contained 459 results for depression and 424 for MDD.Also,the associations between drug targets and MDD showed that SLC6A4,GRIN2A,GRIN2C,SCN10A,and IL1B expression are associated with an increased risk of depression.In contrast,ADRB1,CHRNA3,HTR3A,GSTP1,and GABRG2 genes are candidate protective factors against depression.Conclusion This study identified the risk factors causally associated with depression and MDD,and estimated 10 drug targets with significant impact on MDD,providing essential information for formulating strategies to prevent and treat depression.

Gas-produced water is an accompanying wastewater in the natural gas extraction process,and it is a potential liquid lithium resource that contains a considerable amount of lithium.This study investigated the feasibility of using manganese-based ion sieves to adsorb and extract lithium from gas-produced water.And we focused on the applicability of two different granulation methods,extrusion and droplet,in gas-produced water systems.Two types of H_(1.33)Mn_(1.67)O_(4) particles were prepared by the extrusion method(EHMO)and the droplet method(DHMO).The porosity of DHMO was much higher than that of EHMO,and the adsorption performance of DHMO increased with the decrease of binder concentration.DHMO prepared with a binder concentration of 0.14 g·ml^(-1)exhibited the best adsorption performance in gas-produced water,and the li^(+)adsorption capacity could reach 25.14 mg·g^(-1).In gas-produced water,the adsorption equilibrium of DHMO only took 9 h,and the adsorption process conformed to the Langmuir model and pseudo-second-order kinetic model.The pore diffusion model(PDM)could well describe its adsorption process.Besides,DHMO showed a great selectivity to li^(+),and the selectivity order of DHMO in gas-produced water was li^(+)>Ba^(2+)>>Mg^(2+),Ca^(2+),Sr^(2+)>>Na^(+)>>K^(+).After 20 cycles,the li^(+)adsorption capacity was still higher than 17.30 mg·g^(-1),and the rate of manganese dissolution was less than 1%.

The water pollution derived from the discharge of heavy metals,antibiotics,dyes and surfactants wastewater,etc.has seriously affected human survival and ecological security.As an efficient and low-cost physical wastewater treatment process,the adsorption is a continuous hot spot in related scientific research and applications.Geopolymers are non-crystal or semi-crystalline materials with high-efficiency adsorption performance due to the alkali metal ions that balance the electronegative aluminosilicate skeleton can be efficiently replaced by other cations in the aqueous environment.The related studies of different application conditions,service objects and morphological differences of geopolymer adsorbents based on structure-function design have been in-depth exploration and investigation.This review aims to summarize the research progres s of the structure-function design based on the geopolymerization mechanism and kinetics and service requirements.An overview of service characteristics and progress of geopolymers in the wastewater treatment field(e.g.,dyes,heavy metals,radionuclides,surfactants,antibiotics,ammonium,phosphorus,nitrogen and CO_(2),etc.)are systematically discussed.And the evolution and development of morphological differences and the relationship of structure-function design of geopolymer adsorbents were compared and reviewed.Finally,the challenge worth overcoming,the trends worth considering and perspectives worth developing are highlighted.

Controlling solid form and crystal habit of triphenylmethanol by antisolvent crystallization in a microfluidic device

Crystal habit and crystal form are critical elements in determining product properties and functions. In this work, we developed a microfluidic antisolvent crystallization technique to rapidly screen and accurately control the solid form and crystal habit of triphenylmethanol(Ph_(3)COH). This advanced technique separates the primary mixing of solutions from crystal formation(nucleation and growth) by introducing the microfluidic device, avoiding clogging in microchannels to obtain high-quality crystals. The results show that we can achieve controllable preparation of pure 2Ph_(3)COH·DMSO(DMSO solvate), pure Ph_(3)COH(form β), and mixed crystals with different mass ratios. Moreover, the microscale can prompt the DMSO solvate to grow into hexagonal sheet-like and bulk crystals. We can regulate the aspect ratio of hexagonal sheet-like crystals in binary solvents and control the crystal habit of the form β to transition between long needle-like shapes and short hexagonal prisms in DMF-H_(2)O. Meanwhile, we revealed that the solvent ratio, the antisolvent flow rate, and the initial concentration of Ph_(3)COH are the main factors affecting the solid form selectivity and morphology transition. Such a novel method would be considered as a promising technique to be extended to screen and control key crystallization parameters of other substances.

Thiamine deficiency is characterized by a deficiency of thiamine(vitamin B1),lactic acidosis,pulmonary arterial hypertension(PAH),right-sided heart failure,and peripheral nerve damage.Thiamine deficiency is easily misdiagnosed and missed during clinical practice and is associated with death in severe cases.[1,2]Here we reported a patient who was admitted to the hospital with severe metabolic acidosis and pulmonary hypertension and finally diagnosed with thiamine deficiency by detecting plasma vitamin B1 levels.Since clinically obvious thiamine deficiency is rare,and cases of thiamine deficiency requiring extracorporeal membrane oxygenation(ECMO)treatment are rarer,we believe that our case will be helpful for emergency clinicians.

Posttranslational modifications increase the complexity and functional diversity of proteins in response to complex external stimuli and internal changes.Among these,protein lipidations which refer to lipid attachment to proteins are prominent,which primarily encompassing five types including S-palmitoylation,N-myristoylation,S-prenylation,glycosylphosphatidylinositol(GPl)anchor and cholesterylation.lipid attachment to proteins plays an essential role in the regulation of protein trafficking,localisation,stability,conformation,interactions and signal transduction by enhancing hydrophobicity.Accumulating evidence from genetic,structural,and biomedical studies has consistently shown that protein lipidation is pivotal in the regulation of broad physiological functions and is inextricably linked to a variety of diseases.Decades of dedicated research have driven the development of a wide range of drugs targeting protein lipidation,and several agents have been developed and tested in preclinical and clinical studies,some of which,such as asciminib and lonafarnib are FDA-approved for therapeutic use,indicating that targeting protein lipidations represents a promising therapeutic strategy.Here,we comprehensively review the known regulatory enzymes and catalytic mechanisms of various protein lipidation types,outline the impact of protein lipidations on physiology and disease,and highlight potential therapeutic targets and clinical research progress,aiming to provide a comprehensive reference for future protein lipidation research.

Anti-OX40 Antibody Combined with HBc VLPs Delays Tumor Growth in a Mouse Colon Cancer Model

Objective Combination immunotherapy strategies targeting OX40,a co-stimulatory molecule that can enhance antitumor immunity by modulating the proliferation,differentiation,and effector function of tumor-infiltrating T cells,have attracted much attention for their excellent therapeutic effects.In this study,we aimed to evaluate the antitumor efficacy of combined anti-OX40 and hepatitis B core viruslike particles(HBc VLPs)therapy using a mouse colon cancer model.Methods Humanized B-h OX40 mice were injected subcutaneously with MC38 colon tumor cells and treated with HBc VLPs+anti-h OX40 antibody.Tumor growth was monitored.Flow cytometric analysis was performed to evaluate the populations of T cell subsets in the tumors.Results The combination of anti-OX40 with HBc VLPs resulted in a significant delay in tumor growth,suggesting that a potent antitumor immunity was induced by the combination therapy.Further studies revealed that HBc VLPs+anti-OX40 treatment induced a significant increase in effector T cells(Teffs)and a significant decrease in regulatory T cells(Tregs)in the tumor microenvironment(TME),which accounted for the synergistic antitumor effect of anti-OX40 in combination with HBc VLPs.Conclusion Combination therapy of anti-h OX40 and HBc VLPs provides synergistic antitumor activity in colon cancer-bearing mice,which may represent a potential design strategy for cancer immunotherapy.
